Get a £35 one from works components and support a small british company rather than give crc more money for a taiwanese one!

Good advice, buy a quality British product for less £ = no brainer.

My Works Components N/W arrived this morning (within 48 hours of placing the order).

Hope to escape for a couple of hours in the morning, borrowing my Dad’s road bike as Christmas is ‘away’ this year.

Loving mine too. I wanted a disk-braked road bike that was both comfortable and able to withstand being ridden hard on poor / broken road surfaces and it does the job brilliantly. Had 28mm Conti GP4S for the summer, just put a pair of GatorSkins on for winter duties. I’ve made a few changes including swapping the brakes for TRP Hy/Rd’s which work really well. Interesting that you’ve had a couple of heel strikes now they’ve moved the rear brake inboard. The only change I’d make is to route the rear brake cable down the centre of the top tube for a neater line!

Sounds brutal! How are you getting on with the bike?

Aye, it’s big for the Isle of Man, not many flat roads here!

Apologies for any offence caused to Mrs y0eddy!

The chainset’s Ultegra 6700 38/52, a recent addition to see if my legs would handle it!

Shimano offer a wide-fit across most of their shoe range. They have the same part number (which is different to the model number) as the standard shoe but with a ‘E’ on the end. Your LBS should be able to order them for you.

I’ve owned this bike since the 80’s when it was my sole transport. It started life as a Raleigh Record Sprint (with 501 ‘aerospace contour’ tubing) and is now my single-speed roadie.

I can sympathise, tried to get some tyres on Crest 29er rims, couldn’t get X-Kings or Rapid Robs on, finally got some WTB’s to fit. My thumbs are still hurting…

Funnily enough, it used to be a vicarage!

Marin make some gorgeous bikes, most of which aren’t (currently) brought to the UK market…

Paligap are taking over as UK distributor apparently.

Currently running BB7’s and they do a great job.

I’ve got a pair of TRP HY/RD’s on order so I’ll let you know if they do an even better job!

I can recommend Shimano ‘Blaze’ overshoes for dry, toasty feet on winter road rides!

I knocked an hour off my time in this years Isle of Man end 2 end on a 29er. I know I’m a bit fitter, the course was slightly shorter, and it was not as windy, but still went from 5 hr 15 on a zesty, to 4 15 on a hardtail stumpy 29er.

I knocked an hour off my time in this years Isle of Man E2E too – on the same bike I rode last year!

Well done on the 4 hr 15 @thomasgeorge, credit where it’s due!

Last November I was in Las Vegas and had a great day riding with a guide in Red Rock Canyon.

I hired a bike through McGhies[/url] and they were brilliant – highly recommended 😀

I was hoping to finish in under 5 hours and crossed the line in 4:55 so happy with that!

Enjoyed the new trial through Arrasey, I know a lot of work went into that so thanks to all involved.

28mm Conti 4 Season on CX rims here.

Run at 95psi. Kept up okay with roadie mates on 23s and my arse thanked me for it.

I’ve got a 2012 Reaction GTC SL 29er and like fizzicist and markrh say, it’s a very fast XC weapon.

I’ve ridden it in events including a 24 hour enduro (in awful conditions) and the Manx End2End and it’s been reliable, comfortable and taken everything that’s been thrown at it. Can’t ask for more really!

I bought a Croix de Fer a couple of months ago and I’m very happy with it.

Was after a tough road bike that would stand up to potholes / rubbish road surface so the bomb-proof wheels were a plus for me!

Weight-wise, it’s no lightweight but (according to my scales) it’s less than a kilo heavier than my Specialized Allez (with the pedals on and Conti GP4S tyres fitted).

What Roter Stern said plus I’ve always found it much easier to un-clip when the pedal is at the bottom / when you’re leg’s fully extended.

I always go a (European) size up in Shimano shoes.

A lot of their shoes come in a standard or wide fit, the wide fit has an ‘E’ at the end of the product code.

Got myself a Croix De Fer, put a pair of 28x700c Conti GP 4 Seasons on and haven’t ridden my ‘proper’ road bike since!
