    Grand Raid Cristalp – Switzerland. 125km, 5000m climbing :)

    http://www.grand-raid-bcvs.ch/index-en.html

Beats riding round in a circle in the UK.

Joking aside, 24:12 always used to be fun

I’d second what a couple of people have said about using a HRM first. In fact, understanding of how to build a structured training programme before that (or getting someone to do it for you)

If you don’t ride for them, don’t wear the kit.

If that makes me an ‘internet bell end”, fair enough. Rather be a bell end on the intranet than look a bell end chopper in real life with someone else’s kit on.

Be better if any of them were proper races. I know that’s not the organisers’ fault, it’s the law etc.

Compared to Marathon racing around the world the UK’s offer is pathetic in that respect.

Your warm up should take you up to threshold for it to be worthwhile. Turbo or rollers in the carpark to ensure you steadily ramp it up. Presume you’re using a HRM and knowledge of your threshold HR to do this?

Other than that (and some of the worthwhile things posted above), are you hitting the TTs ‘fresh’, or with loads of miles in your legs from commuting? Do you shuffle your week’s training around the TT night?

Good luck with your efforts…(and the socks) :)

I notice someone asked about pressure. This would be my first question too. I found Ralphs sketchy if you run them with too high a pressure. I used to run them tubed years ago at 30psi and hated them. 23 psi tubeless they’re lovely.

If the OP hasn’t already played around with pressures, I’d go for that first

    :)

Peguera appears to be a long way from where you’re staying, but there’s both a hire place, and a trail centre there. Not ridden it, but looks fun!

    German info here…

This repeated thread is one of the reasons I hate this forum so much.

OP – better idea to do a google search than ask people on here surely?

Try “protein supplementation in endurance sports” or something.

Training Peaks article worth a read here: https://www.trainingpeaks.com/blog/the-endurance-athlete-s-guide-to-protein/

Beware that the advice on consumption during exercise comes from Hammer Nutrition, e.g. someone trying to sell a product…

I’m sure further internet searching will reveal more than STW nonsense…

What makes you think it’s not a real club?

Because it exhibits very few of the characteristics of a real cycling club.

Real cycling clubs tend to be composed of people that know each other, ride together and have something that brings them together, usually location. They also work as a support network, a training group, and most importantly they often bring new people into the sport, including kids, and educate them in the world of cycling.

Rapha RCC is just another way for Rapha to fleece people of their excessive salaries.

I own some Rapha stuff, mainly accessories- I’m not just a Rapha hater.

You want to wear the jersey of a made-up cycling club that you’re not really a member of?

Just renewed mine – lots more questions than a couple of years back. I ignored the social media bit.

    Got the ESTA fine.

If you delete all your social media apps off your phone and say ‘I don’t use social media’ how could they enforce any mandatory stuff?

So it’s a ‘Euro Champs’, but “don’t you dare warm up on rollers”? It’s either a bike race or it’s not.

Racing your bike but pretending you’re not is just dumb.

Yes, I know, if I don’t like it, don’t spoil it for others :)

As per above, the Torcello, Murano, Burano type trips are worth doing. From memory it’s ‘abandoned island’, ‘glass-making island’ and ‘fishing village with painted houses island’ in that order :)

You should make sure you watch ‘Don’t Look Now’ before you go as well :)

As ever on a sportive thread. You get loads of people recommending audaxes. This is despite the tiny number of people who actually do audaxes. Less than 10,000 starts a year I believe.

Well, the OP asked about them, and people responded. That’s sort of how ‘conversation’ works?

Are you saying that because ‘not many people’ do them, the people on this thread are therefore lying?

I don’t ride audaxes or sportives for the record, I’m just a snob. :)

    vdubber67

I’m fairly sure the different between an audax and a sportive is that it’s ok to tell people you did an audax?

    *turns petty sportive snobbery off*

You can get adjustable resistance ones to make higher intensity efforts easier to dial in.

They’re not hard to ride after about the first 10 seconds. If you can ride a bike you can ride rollers.

I know 15 year olds who do knitting on the rollers (no, really)

Wouldn’t spend more than a couple of days in Havana. As others have said, Trinidad is interesting – some great photography inspiration. Santa Clara good too.

We did a cycling trip with Explore holiday company. Cycling was pretty slow and sedate, but a nice way to get around…

I think judging Cant’s persona on last year’s World’s podium is a little unfair (in terms of the smiling thing)

Have a look at this if you’ve not seen it. https://vimeo.com/119442357

Bit of a different insight into her etc….

I’d love to see her win Worlds just to see how massive the smile would be! :D
