Was reading this morning that cramp is not related to electrolytes or drinks etc, but related to fitness or a lack of it. No empirical evidence to connect drinks/cramps. I offer that not as a slur on any cramp sufferers, just an interesting observation
Tails. Certainly recommend the GP visit for a start. Suspect they will recommend SSRIs. I’ve been on them for about 12 years now. No side effects at all, just a more ‘balanced’ view of life, and far fewer periods of being down.
Above all don’t be scared to ask for help and support. Even if things seem really grim, you CAN get better. :)
I’m not really a trail centre sort of person actually. I’ve ridden Doethie a number of times on Trans Wales, and always found it didn’t live up to the ‘best natural singletrack in the UK’ tag that the mags seemed to want to throw at it. Yes, it’s long, but that’s about it.
I think it’s pretty irresponsible actually suggesting (by keeping the event open) that numerous people should still try and drive into Cumbria for this from outside. I’m sat in Notts still considering it, even though I know it’s totally mental as a plan!
If you’re going to race cross, get a cross bike. Once the courses get really muddy you’ll be better of than on a mtb. Proper dismounts, remounts and caries easier on a cross bike too.
It’s supposed to be about pain, mud and general agony. It can also be about adding a different flavour to your normal routes. I’d recommend the former though, cross racing is addictive.
I love how some people have no concept of how gear ratios work. 36:19 isn’t really a tough gear is it? Bigger numbers not always harder! Ratio innit?
100mm carbon hard tail last time. Not very techie riding tbh. Last year it was a bit wet! Go with whichever bike you enjoy most really, although I’d got for the spark.
It’s not an enduro really btw
