Tapered headtube on that Pinnacle limits your fork choice, but looks good for the money.

Gates at the entrance, but there’s a pub about half a mile down the road on the left. Big car park ;)

Lovely looking lady. We have four… :)

As everyone has said, be careful about letting her off lead, or walking her unmuzzled until you’re very sure of her temperament or motivations. None of our dogs go off lead, and the boy always walks muzzled.

Also be careful of people letting their small fluffy dogs run up to yours with a cheerful “oh it’s ok she won’t bite!” People don’t realise how strong the ‘prey’ instinct can be in hounds. When you remind people how much their dog looks like a rabbit, they usually get the message :)

This is often due to clothing interference, especially when windy or going downhill. Usually better when you’ve sweated a bit I find. Happens with most hrm. I’ve had it with polar, timex, suunto and garmin!

Try some ky jelly on the sensors. No really!!

My forks judder on my spare / training bike, but never seem to brake enough in a race to find it a problem! :)

It’s certainly not technical for most of the race, but the climbs are amazing (you really need to like climbs though!)

I was gutted that they shut the last section this year. Back next year for sure.

Not ridden Transvesubienne, but that might be worth a look for you?

Couldn’t this forum just auto-generate this tedious thread and identical responses every week to save everyone the bother?

For 10 quid I just buy a pair of the PX ones every year. Great on the road, and ok on the MTB unless you start walking…

Avoid the £50 ebay ones if you’re bothered about noise. They’re ok for a gentle workout, but you need earplugs. It’s like riding a moped! :)

Check the gap between the top of your stem (or spacers above the stem if any) and the top of your steerer. If the gap is small, and the steerer at all uneven, you can sometimes tighten up onto a high spot, but then play is introduced as you ride.

Solution is to make sure there’s enough of a gap, possibly by adding another very thin spacer

But be aware that even cat friendly greyhounds may well still struggle to control the urge to chase small fluffy creatures, if they start running!

This +1. Some hounds are a LOT worse than others. :) You learn to try and spot running fluffies before they do :)

I raced for 30 seconds in Notts/Derby yesterday. Then something slashed my front tub open and game over. I spent longer warming up on the turbo than I did racing! :)

Greyhounds make great pets. We have four!

They make great pets. Loving, friendly and calm. They sleep most of the time and don’t require as much exercise as people think.

They’re OK to be left for a few hours (we leave ours in the morning and afternoon)Separation anxiety is the same as for any dog, and they do get over it…

Don’t expect them to ‘play’ with you though. They won’t fetch or do ‘normal’ dog stuff…

Feel free to drop me a mail at rtedgeAThotmail.com if you want any specific advice etc. We’ve had ours for about 6 years now, and although we’re not ‘experts’ I can offer as much advice as you need.

They seem to be designed for overly defensive people… ;)

Not sure why you ‘have’ to have ridden one to think they’re stupid or pointless or whatever. I think ballroom dancing looks rubbish, but I haven’t tried it.

Not a fatty hater btw. Sure they’re fun etc. :)

I have a model Karmann Ghia stripped and ready to rebuild for the right money

    (Scale 1:1)

What year is your Ghia, and are you serious about selling?

I’ve just put together an old alu Kinesis Crosslight, which has 135 spacing. Managed to simply use the QR to pull the frame in onto a 130 rear wheel – works fine.

I’d imagine a steel frame is even less of an issue…

I’ve got 2. Neither ss,but both have been ridden and raced quite hard. No BB issues whatsoever. Excellent bikes for the money.

I’ve got one of the SRAM equipped ones, but not raced it yet so can’t really comment. Crossjunkie review here…http://crossjunkie.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/planet-x-pro-carbon-xls-cyclo-cross-new.html

Wheels are different with the 105 version to the SRAM one, but look equally heavy and crap. I’ve gone straight to tubs.

You’re supposed to remove your bar end, yes..

On a dry course your mtb will be fine, but bear in mind if the course involves much carrying / running you’ll be at a disadvantage.

Once the courses get really muddy later in the season you tend to see people really struggling on mtbs…

Built one of the £199 frame sets up last year. Great value. Did half a dozen cx races and 3peaks on it with no probs. cheap tiagra groupset, fulcrum wheelset.

Looks nice, but heavy and expensive.

not everybody wants a cheap plastic bike though – thank god

Anyone who has to put the bike on their shoulder and run up something probably does though. :)

If you’re not racing cx then Kaffenback with some cx tyres is a very versatile bike.

    Good value too:

    http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CBPXKAFF2RIV/planet_x_kaffenback_2_sram_rival_road_bike

This build spec has road tyres on, but it’s got massive clearance for knobblies! Guard and rack mounts too.
