These are really nice. Really lightweight as well.

I really like the stuff that Albion are putting out, especially the stuff that’s a bit different (lightweight packable jackets for ultras etc)

As others have said, it will depend on specific chemical, exposure time, quantities etc. That’s why having a decent Risk Assessment is required – it should take everything into account. To be honest given there’s not exactly much cost difference between googles, glass and shields, the risk assessment should probably recommend the one that most reduces the risk identified?

I think regarding Union/staff involvement, it’s good practice to involve them, but not mandatory. I’ve seen examples of where the risk assessments have been ‘handed over’ to operators alone, and they don’t quite have the full knowledge – needs to be a partnership approach really.

    “Bike packing bags.
    Positives
    Aero- a huge huge benefit”

I really doubt most people bikepack at the speeds required for aerodynamic benefits to kick in. Maybe if you’re TT-ing the Tour Divide with clip on aero bars maybe, but not pootling around the UK surely?

I’ve had my phone do this in my jersey pocket during a bike ride. Did your daughter have the phone stuck to her in the night?

After a work trip to LA (Anaheim), my colleague and I did a drive around that included:

Compton (including Kelly Park where Eazy E hung out)
    Watts – home of riots!
The intersection of Florence and Normandy (where the LA Riots essentially began)

Much more fun than the beach ;)

I wouldn’t make a big day out of Nant Yr Arian. With the continued closure of part of it, it only takes about half an hour to ride around! (It’s an excellent half hour mind you!)

I was hoping that I could use this thread to show my wife that 15 bikes was in some way normal.

Camped near Ely over the Aug Bank Holiday. Lovely place, but the couple of training rides I did out from there on the road were a little less exciting than riding on the turbo ;)

I got the update via email, and after reading it three times, I couldn’t work out what the update actually was. Eventually realised that the update is that BC have creating a ‘working group’ or something.

Irrespective of your thoughts on transgender participation in sport, you can always rely on BC to be a bit ineffective at everything – lol

    Sad news.

A recommendation to cheer you up. Nik Turner and Youth.

Very mellow sounds. Essentially Nik free-forming over stuff that sounds like the Blade Runner soundtrack.

    Lovely

If it’s the same course as the Marathon Champs then that’ll be ‘fun’.

I used to get numb fingers after 24hr races. Give it a few days, the feeling will come back.

If you can’t open or close a finger without locking/pain that’s another matter. Welcome to the fun world of ‘trigger finger’, which seems to be chronic ;)

The NDCXL rule is that for your club to get reduced entry to the league, you have to put a race on or actively support someone else’s if you’re a small team/club. The onus is then on the club organising to encourage their riders to marshal rather than race at their club round.

Someone’s already mentioned the ‘weight on your hands’ question. Have you looked at stem length and saddle to bar height in terms of your weight distribution? ie are you forcing your weight onto your hands? Worth a thought.

If it’s surface rust, sand it off (wet n dry or some sort of powered sander), treat it with some sort of rust remedy solution, and then prime and paint it.

Really pleased with my Dial, but even with XT groupset and some decent wheels it’s still rather heavy…

First time posting on this thread…

I’ve played bass on and off for 30 years now, been in bands etc, and then once the last band finished I stashed everything away about 10 years ago…

Decided that going to work, training and racing wasn’t enough of a life so I’ve started ‘ProjectFunk’

Having essentially played ‘rock’ bass for 30 years I’m dedicating myself to learning a completely new style.

Currently learning the first two Jamiroquai albums as I love the work of Mr Zender, and exploring Funkadelic etc..

Read a few people on here talking about getting things tabbed etc. My advice would be to persevere with tuning your own ear and trying to figure out what’s being played yourself. It may take you 469,000 listens to a track and screams of ‘what the funk is he playing there!?’, but when you figure it out it’s much better than just reading a tab.

I did Dubrovnik – Mostar – Kotor – Dubrovnik as a hotel based bike tour in May. Montenegro was my favourite out of the three countries I visited.

The Kotor Bay was a little bit busy to cycle round (scenery obviously amazing)

If you can get to the top of the Bay, the mountain road north of Risan was literally jaw dropping (that’s the way I came in)

    Didn’t see may bike shops…

Stayed in Alpbach, Tirol a couple of years back. There was no MTB infrastructure or trails etc. Road biking good, and opportunities for gravel too…

Do a google search for ‘solar calculator’ or similar. As per the response above, LED lights – yes. Panel heaters, fridge freezers and dryers – massive consumption levels.

As above – Apex mechs seem to lose spring tension easily and stop downshifting.

Don’t even think about taking them near a muddy cross race either – they’ll be straight in your spokes, taking your mech hanger with them.

This is from 10 years racing CX on Rival mechs, with occasional sad and disappointing forays into Apex

    ;)

Thanks folks. I personally think a simple facetime call is enough, but that people are getting overexcited and thinking they ‘need’ special tech.

I’ve got one of the 19.99 eBay ones. I use the ball end that’s a bit softer and foamy. Works really well, and helps after big rides. Surprisingly well made and pretty robust.

Super-Budget option is a secondhand powertap rear wheel with a secondhand Garmin. You’ve not said whether it’s to ride outside with or on a turbo etc. What’s your frame/wheel combo?

Out of interest, why do you think you need a power meter? ;)

I can remember racing CX at Allestree Park. Wasn’t a very good course from memory!

Some bike trails would be good though- it’s amazing what you can do in a relatively small space – take Hicks Lodge and the Snibston trails for example…

They’re awesome things, but I never seem to use mine. No good for bike packing, and just end up being a faff for camping.

As per above – Grand Raid Christalp (or whatever it’s now called) is amazing (as long as you like climbing!)

What about a multi dayer? Sudety and Beskidy in Poland are cheap and very well organised. Only ridden the latter, but the riding was amazing.

The IoM race might be tough to get to but it’s also really good. Tougher than you might imagine too…

Not all split charge systems are the same. Sure, you can pay £20 for one of those matchbox things, or you can get decent kit that you can control from your phone via Bluetooth….

How about doing some structured training on the turbo? Give me an interval session where I’ve got to ride hard AND mentally work out how many repetitions of 15/15 on/off I’ve done and an hour goes quickly.
