If it is a AV amp you have does it not support HDMI switching? That way you can feed the image, via the amp, to the TV.

I just like the hypocrisy of the thread when the most read news item, on the front page, is the one with pictures of sports bras

Might want to give an idea of budget? Plus are there many sites open in winter? Found this site but not sure how good it is

Can you not attach something like this to the racking

I use a raspberry pi does all that you need and no moving parts. Mine is running as a Plex server for DVD playing to a Chromecast.

They are all about the same when it comes to careful handling or losing it with or without insurance. Make sure it is very well packed and tape a couple of extra boxes to the outside makes it less likely to be put at the bottom.

    How far is it going?

@ Littlesthobo I was generalising as the phrase “Mercedes by default” irked me. Mercedes build the chassis/panels and ship it all out in kit form to VW so I have been informed. The two Crafter’s I had (admittedly in Australia) had Merc VIN plates.

The Crafter is made by Mercedes it is a rebadged Sprinter.

Get a Sprinter sized vehicle if carrying 8×4 in big quantities. Vito SWB Dualiner with seats out took 8×4 but the SWB van with bulkhead wouldn’t. Not sure if that helps much with a T5 :D but I would get a tape measure out before buying if that is the main criteria.

Very lucky. Guess bike was on drivers side of the roof? Sign probably relates to the height at the edges not centre.

What did you install on Friday? Security software like webroot can cause this.

Piece of dowel with wet and dry wrapped around it? Hate Dremmels as I can’t seem to control them always seem to wander offline. Strange as I can route freehand with a 3kw router!

Was it just the lighting circuit that tripped? If so I would not put a socket on and either, blank it off completely, or trace the wires and create a spur to the nearest ring socket (as long as there are no other spurs already).

Doesn’t the new system mean that when the MOT expires the tax disc does as well. Think this happens with the direct debit version anyway.

Used mine for a month, it basically told me what I already knew if I’m not on the bike I don’t move enough, it now lives in a drawer. It also became a pain remembering to stop it recording whilst driving to save false readings. Better getting an app for the phone, or maybe the ant+ footpod for my Garmin, or a life.

Better than my experience with Merc. Vito came minus radio from factory, dealer tried to retrofit, three months of trying later (and after fitting missing wiring, computer, phone mic, and various connectors) found the speakers weren’t there either :D Gave up at that point and bought me another one!

No worries. If laying laminate you would be removing skirting anyway, or finishing with quadrant (which could be trunking). If going behind skirting add a couple of wall boxes to bring the cables out makes it neater than a hole and pipe cover  bit like this from Wickes

Also just thought can you remove skirting, and stick the cable in the gap at base of plasterboard, then glue skirting back on? Did this in the last lounge.

It isn’t as visible as you think. Get a small bit and try it out don’t do what I did though and get the smallest diameter possible as it makes getting the cables in a real struggle :-) D shape, in white, on top of skirting looks ok. Are the floors wood? If so lifting a floorboard isn’t too difficult.

Can you not just run the cable in trunking around the wall?
like this stuff from screwfix? Stick it to the skirting.

As mentioned above the hp gen 8 microserver is worth a look especially at £167 from Misco. Needs disks added.

I use a Cablesson cat 5 HDMI extender. Works well, sends full HD, just need to find a decent 1 input to many HDMI splitter so I don’t have to keep swapping the lead at the sky box end!

After speaking to a workmate, who used to work there, it seems the staff are on a weird commission scheme that rewards shifting quantities of warranties/cables/bags etc not the actual value of them! They will give the warranty free just so they can claim an add-on sale.

As above. Got the MiL’s one working, for a couple of days, by shoogling the lever. Same symptoms as yours. BG took two months to diagnose the fault even though I told them what I’d done as a workaround

    I’d go

    1) Wilkinson
    2) Alum block
    3) Treet
    4) Alum block
    5) Gillette
    6) Alum block
    7) Buy Feathers and some plasters :D

Not difficult, just fiddly, try not to break any cables and all should be fine.
Have done hundreds, used to fix the things, never managed to destroy one through hamfistedness which amazed me :P
