    @matthewjb: fair point.

@tails: surely if you saw the sea go out very quickly, you would assume that it would come back in equally as quickly? Or would you think it'd just stay out?

I can't be bothered to read this thread but you're all idiots*.

You know who RATM are signed to? And you know who owns Epic?

Has it even crossed your mind that this is a very very good marketing ploy to make more people buy even more cds at xmas? No?

*the ones buying it that is and those ones who are members of the facebook group (especially Gary)

    Brilliant thanks.

So, I just need to get confirmation (verbal/written?) that the administrator has approved the hiring and that would (hopefully) give me a bit more leverage if they suddenly turned round and said they couldnt pay me?

@ the hustler: that was my understanding as well. However, I've been offered the position after they've gone into administration. So does this change anything? Are they legally allowed to take people on if they know they can't pay them?

    You ignorant saps

This woman is an absolute gift to the Army's PR department, and you've all fallen for it

Young, blonde, slim, fit and absolutely well-prepped by Army PR with the medals, and the wedding ring, and the poppy, and the brave grin.

She's no more "incredible" than any other Army widow.

Where are the Army wives who are short, fat, ugly slappers? There must be loads of them. Do you think they are less dignified, less devastated, less representative of our collective loss than this woman?

I say again – you ignorant saps

Show some respect for the dead, idiot. Regardless of what you think of her, show respect for her dead husband.

I very much hope you are drunk and will regret this post in the morning.

at Bush. Yep I run a web design agency.

What's that got to with it though? I offered free advice on his very first thread and this kind of project is massively too small for us to touch (the website that is, not the business: not trying to belittle the business in anyway). So I'm not saying this to try and get business.

Anyhoo, like the other guys, I'm not going to bump this anymore for Jedi. I wish him all the luck with the actual business.

I think you're missing the point.

It doesn't matter if you're a top poster etc. I've been on here since pretty much year dot (under different names: but can give all of them to you if you want to check) and I've never dropped links of any sites that I've worked on.

I'm pretty sure if I looked hard enough as well, that I'd find instances of you complaining (in some way) about SC not so sly advertising and/or the number of times our dear Brant would post up new products looking for "advice". Isnt that what you're doing now? Under the guise of wanting feedback…

sorry but I'm with snaps and skills on this. You keep posting links to your site each week when a little change has been made. Its obvious advertising and it makes it even worse (imho) that it seems to be your mates that are the people mainly replying.

If you're not sure about your website, go to a professional and get them to sort it. It is a business that you're running right?

Have you given any money to STW for the advertising, ie like people do on the classifieds?

Friend of ours has a very 'French' attitude to this, she being French. If folk are coming to her house to eat her food then they can bloody well eat what she cooks them or go hungry. If 8 people are coming to dinner then, she reasons, why should 7 suffer or one have to have a special meal cooked? I like her attitude.

What utter bullsh*t. Thats not a french attitude, that's her being a selfish host. I lived in france for a number of years and ALL of the people who cooked for me (or others) would go out of their way to cater for different people.

    ^ totally agree.

With a few exception, most of the ones "bought" on here are appalling.

Oliver Coats has some pretty impressive photos on his site too, but again the ones bought are terrible. Take for example the original photo posted by the OP: what's in focus/sharp in that?! His elbow?!

Why on earth you people are buying some of these photos is completely beyond me: surely the memories are better than some half hearted photo, prob taken using a remote on a set position.

JD's photos are however, all, fantastic.

Thanks. The last payment was made by cheque which obviously has been cashed so there's no way of cancelling that.

Is there any legal protection? (CAB?) that can be used if he does become a c***?

They are out of stock at Madison. Normally £2.99 each (spoke and washer). Part number is 4BR 9804

    Can't help more than that

Invites sent to all. Be patient if it doesn't work straight away. Hit refresh or something as because its still in beta, occasionally it falls over.

I'm as cynical as the next guy; I've never done any of those "invite 10 friends and complete 10 task" sites, but this does seem to be the real forshizzle.

It goes live in Oct anyways. Though some of the STW massive would like to get in before that.

    Then I'd go somewhere else.

The companies I've written for are all online. To be fair though, they did approach me, rather than the other way round, but I'd still say that as the travel industry is much bigger than the cycle industry, that the cash is still there.

    Name drop; you're Mr Chipps!

As an illustration, I'm just talking to the online Travel Guardian about writing a feature about my Pyrenean trip. They're not going to pay me a penny, but I still reckon it's worth doing.

Sorry but I think thats ball. Either you have another motive for getting it on there, ie linking back to here and/or an advert for the mag, or your strangely very bad at business skills. I've written stuff for travel magazines before (and one of them is huge) and the pay was pretty good; so I can't believe someone of your fame, can't get paid for writing (what should be) a pretty decent write up.

I'll await the flaming from your fans…

I dont need £50 and/or are too lazy to phone, but why not phone Gary Fisher and ask them which shops more recently took delivery of said bike. They'll know whose likely to have it in stock.

If that works, give the £50 to a cancer charity please.

    The modern bikes are terrible

Yawn. Have you ridden a recent one? Ie from the last 2 years? They constantly get good reviews.

ridden by a very thin slice of the demographic

Yawn again. And utter rubbish. Marin riders go from beardy sandal wearing old guys (no offence intended) to young up and coming professional freestyle riders who go to slopestyle and Mega Avalanche style events.

Why do they continue with that awful design

Because it works?! Pray show me another full sus design that gives that much mud clearance, climbs that well and descends that well…

Not entirely sure what your point is here.

Firstly, it wasn't a brand new bike design; '10 would have been its second season. So new yes, but not brand new. It was the new frame iteration that was scraped not the suspension linkage set up.

Have you tried the new generation Wolf Ridge? The thing flies up hills and equally as fast downhill.

Would you prefer Marin kept selling them and waited quietly until they started breaking in a few years, or started again and bring something out next year that is even better?

Based on the seeming logic in your post, Scott should be out of business, Canondale should have folded years ago and Orange wouldnt have got any further than selling bikes in Sheffield!
