I’ve joined the COVID club today; tested yesterday, rung by HR and given the news today. Started with feeling a little ‘off’ on Sunday, popped a temp of 38.5 that evening. Shocking nights sleep, cough started on Monday. I’ve had no fevers in the day time, but have copped one each evening, of slightly lessening severity each time. I’ve had enough energy to do some gentle garden chores today, but now I’m wiped out on the sofa with a temp again. No shortness of breath as such, just greatly reduced exercise tolerance. No feels like a grotty head cold, and the cough is not persistent, but it is slightly productive. So all in all not a completely textbook experience so far. It’s not a lot of fun, but I’ve had worse illnesses so far. Hopefully I continue on this improving trajectory. 🤞🏼

Undoubtedly caught it at work, over half of our staff going off sick now are testing positive which makes our premises a Petri dish I’m sure.

You are avoiding the ‘resource extraction site’ nav points aren’t you? It’s lots quieter if you aim for the hotspot convergence manually. I usually get a single pirate, and sometimes a solitary miner. If it’s not that, then yes, Fdev just have it in for you…

I’ve only mined with the AspX, and it does seem good at the role. Never had any piratey dramas either; a couple of attempted interdictions that were easy to dodge. I don’t even take weaponry with me, for what it’s worth. I’m still at the stage that a 50mil pay day is amazeballs, 😎 so haven’t considered the need for a bigger hold yet.

Or 1.1m about 6-7 jumps away, worth doing the price research I think.

Ah, the downside of a Vulture is only two hard points. Both large, though.

The problem with the Vulture, is that it gives my ideas above my station, bigger ships, with higher rated pilots, until someone absolutely slaughters you! Fun though.

That’s the truth! My first evening with it was very expensive. Having gotten more selective in who I pick a fight with I’ve become more successful.

What I’ve been doing on the few hours that I’ve been able to get on is a bit of Bounty Huntering; I’ve bought a Vulture and upgraded it, with a pair of wopping great beam lasers and the associated power supply. Can now strip most shields in a single burst; makes the ‘eliminate/assassinate known pirate/terrorist’ missions enjoyable and lucrative. I’m currently at engineer Todd ‘Blasty McBlastyface’s base about to get some gun upgrades.

Agreed; so long as he can get a couple of shots in. Ditto the hauling missions, which may be safer. I think there’s reasonably lucrative wing passenger missions too. He really needs a slightly more versatile ship though. Heartily recommend the Cobra 👍🏼

I spent the last hour of my session last night repositioning to a new sector. I’m now in the Pleiades area, and have seen (and been shot at by, and run away from) my first Thargoid contact… Running a few missions and keeping my eye out for alien materials. A financially better session too, Passenger trips repaired the damage that my foray into combat caused to my finances.

Matt; just reread your post; the bounty will be claimable in a system controlled (or at least with a presence of) the faction that issued it. It should show in your ‘transactions’ tab on the left nav box.

Matt, sounds like your mark had a bounty on his head from a different system, but was not wanted in the system that you were in currently. That means that when you killed him, you committed a crime in the current system. A jurisdiction thing.

Saccades; really enjoyed that session, despite the comms and (my) noob combat issues 😂 getting a little bit more effective in combat now, with a more effective load out. Will be on for a couple of hours tonight and tomorrow night too if anybody is about.

Re the overheating; it’s also possible that you accidentally toggled ‘silent running’ on, which closes all of your exhausts to reduce your visibility to scans, but quickly becomes unsustainable at high power usage states.

That super long supercruise thing is a bit frustrating; I feel like they should just have put another nav beacon by the B star rather than have you traverse the black slooowly.

What’s everyone flying at the moment? I’m enjoying a Cobra Mk3 at the moment. Got a few kills under my belt now. Really looking forward to getting on my next session in a few days time; quite fancy a bit of deep core mining I think.

Right. I’m up and running! Wow. This game is a serious time sink 😂. I still have no idea what half the buttons do, but I’ve just completed my first four baby missions (as well as the training missions, obvs); couriering and a scan/scoop the data type mission. Got interdicted and then left alone by a pirate because I was worthless, lol; small mercy of being a noob I guess.

I’m going to step out from solo into open play tomorrow evening I think.

Pardon my french but it’s bloody obvious. I haven’t heard of a single death in the uk that hadn’t had ‘underlying health issues’. COVID-19 Is particularly deadly for this patient group; it’s more likely to kill them than any current endemic disease, I expect. But for fit, healthy adults, the risk is negligible at an individual level, and our collective societal efforts are better spent protecting the vulnerable and keeping the economy going than hysterically running around in circles shouting ‘show me the evidence or I’m gonna die!’ And generally fretting.
