All sorted! Strava customer support came through, in the end. Turns out the original account was created and I’d managed to put a typo in it (.con). There’s no ‘click to activate’ email with Strava so I never realised. Also, pretty impressive that the app stayed logged in for about 36 months… (See STW, it’s possible 😉 )

Thanks all for your help and suggestions.

Really feel for you. As the dad of a pair of young’uns, this is probably one of my biggest paranoid parent fears. I don’t know what to suggest, but whatever you do, good luck. (I suspect chinning her wouldn’t end well though, however deserved 😉 )

This thread is making me grumpy. These 6% feckers are *probably/maybe* the same feckers who whinge about public sector ‘gold plated’ pensions. In fact, here’s an idea; tell them they’ll get 6%, but you’re going to take 12% off them to fund a pension, which will pay less than was anticipated before the ‘pay rise’.

    Bitter? Moi? 👿

Ho! For Junkie’s word is the TRUTH! And we will know when Junkie spaketh the truth for the fire and damnation from THM and Jambalaya will fall with great ferocity.

(So now we need to write books about him and then reinterpret what he said so that it bears absolutely no resemblance to his original teachings, okay?)

I was going to explain why, but cougar has done so far more eloquently than I could… Ta for that!

Aye, whatever, I dont really think about it, I just try to be good.

Absolutely. And the golden rule, do unto others as you would have done to yourself is about as Christian a rule as it gets, I suppose.

Oh, wait… It’s pretty much universal throughout humanity.

The way that the curser vanishes half way through typing each of the six or seven usernames and passwords that I need to input to start work in the morning, without any obvious reason. As if the six or seven usernames and passwords aren’t annoying enough 👿

meh, depends what you define as Christian values

lol, an atheist defending, and pick and choosing which ‘Christian’ values he ascribes to has genuinely tickled me 😆

Seriously though, surely as an atheist you can claim postChristian values, and would rather distance yourself from the somewhat antiquated, mysoginistic and discriminatory values associated with Abrahamic religion?

I think (and I could be wrong) that this is the sort of thing that is dealt with on its individual circumstances; ie. One seven year old is very different from another.

In other words, you’re fine so long as nothing goes wrong, but if it does, they’ll chuck the book at you.

Attach jump leads, close window. Then either start the car and allow to charge itself, or attach a slow charger and charge it properly, either/or. Car doesn’t need to be started to shut the window though

Oh, and it is perfectly possible to ‘bump’ start a conventional auto; you just need to be going fast enough when you drop it into D… 😈 I suspect that it’s not reccomended though…

I think the objections on this thread are limited to the odd idiot who vapes with something that could double for the dry ice generator at a west end production of starlight express whilst driving, rather than broader objections to gaping generally. That’s my grumble anyway. Vaping is, generally, much less antisocial than fagging, it has to be said.

I’m pretty sure the density of the vapour produced by some of these super vapers is somewhat higher than even the thickest natural fog, so that’s a daft thing to say. I’ve seen some cars in the city driving down the road doing very realistic Thonas the Tank engine impressions out of a cracked open drivers window, so I dread to think what the visibility is like inside the vehicle. It’s a handheld distraction anyway, so there’s existing legislation that the police could use if they wanted to.

Funny no one seems to be getting the abuse I got when Prince died. Bad taste is obviously context specific, 1 pop star vs 66 ordinary people

That’s because no one has said “meh, Egyptair are overrated. Never really liked their aircrew or clientele anyway; don’t know what all the fuss is about. I much prefer the clientele and aircrew of Airitalia” or some such nonsense.

I guess; don’t know how that works. Sounds sort of right though… Can a premium user download my ride without me logging in then?

My ride on inaccessible account Yes, scaredypants, that’s basically it, I’ve created an account without any means of logging into it. I just opened the app and cracked on, unaware that it wasn’t the account that I opened a year or so ago. I USED to be able to access it from my phone, but unfortunately I logged out and then couldn’t log in again. I emailed Strava and got a generic ‘how to reset my password’ type email. I’ve replied to it as per the ‘if this didn’t answer your question’ instructions, but now when I open the link for the support ticket I get a 414 message. I’m going to lose my two little rides, aren’t I? 🙁

I’m not on Facebook, so I hadn’t; but you know what, I probably WAS on it when I first downloaded Strava. So I reactivated my FB account, allowed Strava to access it on the phone settings, and…

…Yet another ghost account. Nope, didn’t work. AND now I feel grubbied by FB, too… 😉

I’ll try a support ticket. I tried one before, but inadvertently I deleted the ghost account that (I didn’t realise) it was associated with. Anyone had much sense from Strava support?

Tillydog, nope, no email notifications to any email account.

One email I use. I have checked the inactive one as well. I’ve also got a work email if you want to get technical; but I only use that for work (I’ve still checked it though)

Tried that; I’ve got two Google IDs; I’ve tried logging on with both, and both result in a new shadow account, not the original one. This is really frustrating… Thanks for everyone’s input though

    v8ninety

Okay, done that. Problem is, there doesn’t appear to be an email account associated with the unloginable account…

    v8ninety

Yes, I figured that I’d created two accounts, but I haven’t got a different email address to log on with, so I don’t know how that happened. I’ve got a link to the active account as I shared the ride with a mate fortunately, but I have no idea how to convert this info into a login 😐

Give it half an hour in a shoebox away from cats. It’ll not last much longer I’d wager. Sad little things, injured birds.

Last thing I used mine for was adjusting the door closer on the office door. Went from a teeth jarring, door frame threatening slam to a satisfying shoosh-clunk. Leatherman wave.

To be honest, there’s a million (well maybe not quite a million) little jobs that I use it for that I wouldn’t have considered attempting without a leatherman on my work belt; I’d just have to book estates to come and sort it. So my leatherman is used for saving the NHS literally thousands hundreds some quid.

Edit; cme to think of it, our building is maintained by a PFI type of thing, so probably MEEEELLIONS!

[TJ]YOU CAN’T POSSIBLY KNOW THAT! could be that if you’d have had a helmet on, the impact would have redirected its energy through your entire body, throwing you bodily into the cut, where you’d have DROWNED! Maybe [/TJ]

In seriousness; shit thing to happen OP, glad you’re not more seriously hurt. Any chance the scrotes got caught?

Accidentally took a leatherman wave into a high security* prison the other day. Glad no one noticed; could have been awkward, I’m fairly sure there’s rules against that sort of thing. In my defence, they invited me, I’d rather not have been there…

*apparently not that high security; who knew?

Im struggling with how the cage makes any odds if your using a shoe with a stiff enough sole positioned right.

Yep, this. I’ve got a pair of time pedals with a cavelike design, and a pair without. The cage design to me just makes the bike more useful; ie, if you take it on holiday, you can hop on with trainers and ride it to the shop/pub/beach and it’s reasonably comfy, but you still have the option to put your bike shoes on for a ‘proper’ ride. Having ridden both a similar amount, the clipped in experience is identical. I have stiff soled Shimano shoes.

I bought a cordless one from Lidl a week or so ago that I’m VERY happy with. It is £50 over budget, but I reckon it represents pretty good value for money. No idea if they are still in stock though.

Make him build one if he wants one.

EXACTLY what I was about to say. If he’s got time and knowledge invested in it, he’s going to really value it. Plus there’s definitely some educational value in building a flying machine from components. That, and encourage, nay, INSIST on responsible use, away from people, animals and buildings.

I really fancy a Fitbit blaze. Any major reason that I should avoid? Also, using Google shopping, there’s a couple of shops that are flogging then for c£130 rather than the usual £155ish; are these things that may be counterfeited, or am I just being paranoid?

    Couple of people at work discussing swimming in the sea on holiday;

“ooh I’m not sure I fancy that; you e got to watch out for those Pekinese men of war…”

I had visions of swimmers being chased by small yappy pirates on Spanish galleons.

You know, as much as it pains me to say it, this ‘gaffe’ actually makes me warm to him a tiny bit. You know, like from Norway in the depths of winter, to maybe, northern Greenland in March.

He is kind of right, after all.

Is this one of those cold calling accident management companies that seem to know you’ve had a prang, 15 minutes after you drop the car off at the repairers?

Not in this case. Claim management company nominated by the lease car/insurance company (can’t remember quite which; it was a bit of a telephonic merrygoround initially).
