Spent plenty of time on both bikes and they both have there own merits, fives are great confidence inspiring bikes, very easy to ride fast and generally are great all round bikes. The ST4 is a little bit more of a tricky machine that really responds well to good riding, takes a little bit of taming but once you do its no better or faster than a five, but its a much more fun and involving ride. Weve still got some offer frames left in 16" (08 Frames with 2010 BoostValve shocks) drop me an email if you want some further details.

Go for a medium unless your wildly out of proportion! We sell loads of SJ FSRs every year, I tend to find them to be a little bit smaller than most for a given size but at 5'10 i find myself inbetween M&L (ive ridden both sizes from our demo fleet comfortably) but would probably opt for a medium if it was my own money.

However there is still no better sizing tool than getting your arse on a saddle and having a go 😉

Ive sold a couple of Anthem X3's to people who have split them for just the frame. Only difference is the Float R shock which for a short travel application and alongside the maestro linkage works just as well imo.

One of them was too a regular customer who transfered all the kit onto a HT frame he had and sold it for £500 so the frame ended up costing him £500… not bad!

Just got my DW spot in raw & absolutely love it. Pretty much like V10's piccy but medium(thanks Luke -it's fantastic). Have ridden hl spot & owned non hl spot – DW far outperforms them both imo

No problem, glad your enjoying it, cheers for the help with the tyres by the way, i was dying on my feet the day you came to collect it! 😳

One from a few years back – met up with Lazy to test his/the new E120 and a couple of guys he knew were there with a camera so we spent a few mins with them. Me in the red t shirt and full face with the crud catcher flapping about!

Nothing something we deal with but if your B2W is through evans then surely a Pace 405 has to be worth a look, ive had a quick blast on a customers and it was a very impressive piece of kit, good value too.

ST4 mentioned above does take more stick than most 4inch bikes and are a hoot to ride but its certainly not a bike for 'ploughing through stuff' – just bought a load of frames to do on offer so might treat myself to one with a revo maxlelite… yummy 😀

As mentioned above Hotlines have absolutly nothing in stock in 314 or 514 so you will need to find somewhere with one in stock (ive got 1x M left in a 514 ). As for the bike ive been mucking around on a demo 514 in the last few weeks, see here:
    Clicky

Been out a couple more times on it since including a good thrash around Chicksands and its an epic little machine, took everything in its stride all day – even trippled up on the 4x track on it which i wouldn’t usually attempt on a bike of this type so its obviously pretty confidence inspiring!

Spares availability is pretty good, Hotlines website shows all parts and also a fairly up to date availability too.

Mama your gonna smash through the +35lb barrier if you go for either of those two i weighed for you!

Just finished my ‘temp’ dh bike for France this year as im still sat waiting (and will be for sometime!) for my new DHR. Will be forsale as of 13/7 when i get back so if anyone likes it…!

38.6lb as pictured.. do i score extra points for white wheels and forks? 😀

Aside from the Merlins/Boardmans which are obviously limiting on where you can purchase from, the Rockhoppers this year have been offering best value from the major brands in the £600-£1000 category.

Everyone has similar costs to deal with so inevitably if you buy the bike with the best components you will end up with the cheapest frame, doesn’t always follow that cheap = bad – but at that price point the frame makes the biggest difference, not what rear mech its got on it.

Offer wise not a huge amount floating about at that price point but we (mentioned above) have just taken a load of 09 Kona HT on which will be on clearance soon. Rockhoppers wont be as they are just about sold out, Marin have nothing left at all, Scott may be getting some slight tweaks on Scale/Aspects and if you stretch your budget a tiny bit more you might get onto a RM Vertex 10. Giant are pretty low on XTC too but Pauls tend to get first bite of the cherry on those.

Its gonna be a tricky year for clearance stuff, lots and lots of stuff is sold out due to fairly (understandably) cautious sales projections from the distributors and therefore stock orders. Coupled with the fact 2010 stuff is going to see another slight rise lfl in price there is no reason to give the better value 09 stuff away… Interesting times 😕

Weighed a 09 Enduro FSR Comp today for a customer, not really paid much attention to them this year but it came in at 29.2lb (on Ultimate Support Scales) with pedals(albeit naff plastic ones). Pretty good for 6 inch at £1600! Only 0.6lb heavier than the Stumpy FSR Elite.

My little Meta666 play bike fluctuates between bang on 30 and 32lb. picture below is certainly at the fat end of that but its running big Minions and flats ready for the Missus to use it in France – not really much i could do to get it lighter without spending silly money!

Dont brake in corners or off camber, let it roll and it WILL grip.

Look well ahead and also where you want to go, if you look at that big evil tree stump you will naturally ride into it 😆

Relax, let your arms and legs work with the suspension not against it.

Also a fine line knowing when to let the bike have its own way and when to reign it in and correct it but you cant really teach that.

They are decent little starter bikes, just posted them up as they usually get shown first and often give a good indication of how the rest of the lineup is going to look.

Too many price points now ive had a look at them properly.

    Boggo model is £299.99
Hardrock Disc is £349.99 – 21spd and hiten bars 😕
Hardrock Sport Disc is £399.99 – bottom two pictures above, red one will sell lots 24spd bb5s l/o fork alu bars
Hardrock Comp Disc £449.99 – top pic only upgrade is the fork which is hydro damped
    Hardrock Pro Disc £549.99 – Darts/Hydros
