Best: Tough call between TRc and XX1

    Worst: Five frame.

As above heat is your friend. Get the tin and fat in for at least 15 mins so it’s smoking. I put the tin over a low hob while I’m pouring the batter to maintain the heat. I also prefer to use a muffin tray rather than a shallower one as you get much more manly sized versions this way! Recipe I use is:

175g decent plain flower – mcdougalls stuff is fine, Safeway savers less so.
    2 eggs
    175ml milk
    100ml water
    Salt+pepper

Sieve the flour from a good height (without making too much of a mess!). Don’t open the oven! Usually takes around 15 mins and that above will make 9 in a muffin tray and id estimate about 12-15 in a normal one.

Were you on a fully rigid 29er at llandegla Chris?

No worries, i was just confused as to why you couldn’t get it to work as it is pretty simple! 😆

Deadkenny, why cant you run mmx (reverb brake no shifter) with the reverb remote upside down on the left? I run this setup fully mmx’d with no issues?

Does your friend realise that when n you stick a pump on a reverb with 250 psi in it the gauge will register sub200 because of expansion into the hose, not because it’s leaking?

Picked up a Galaxy Tab2 10.1 from carphonewarehouse yesterday for £195. £50 cashback from Samsung direct so sub £150 seemed a pretty good deal. Screen isnt as good as a Nexus 10 or Ipad but then its less than half the price.. Seemed a little s;uggish at first but with the jellybean update its pretty slick.

Just something to check. The wall thickness on those frames is pretty thin so if the seat clamp has quite a thick ridge the clamp may be coming into contact with the reverb before its fully clamped the frame against it.

Borrowed a 2.5Kw oil filled radiator today – its been on for well over an hour and done next to bugger all. Will pick up a cheap fan heater and see how that goes.

PP im sorry for offending you for considering the Dyson 😉

footflaps thats what im asking – is it really worth 10x as much as a fan heater?

Link is interesting reading – looking for something to stick 3-4 degrees into one room quickly and it does seem to be good at this.

We don’t have (need) the heating on so having it on for a few hours just to heat one room for effectively 15 mins whilst she sorts herself out doesn’t seem efficient. A half hour blast with the dyson is roughly 1Kwh (12p). I dont know how to work out the gas equivalent but i cant see it being much cheaper and anyway I can live with less than £1 a week to keep her happy!

Its more the ambient temperature in the room when shes getting ready for bed / up in the morning thats the problem – its lovely and warm under the duvet – hence blankets/hot bottles wont make a difference.

I can use it as a ‘cold’ fan for when im on the turbo too.

Oops forgot about this ive been a rather busy bee!

Will drop some proper feedback down when ive got a little more time but first impressions are good.

Dirtyrider – running a Ceramic GXP with no problems?

Frogstomp – the matching left grips comes with the xx1 gripshift (no fisher spare part code for this on its own as yet)

If its an X0 DH then any standard 4 bolt 104 chainring will fit on it. The renthal ones are nice.

Drop me an email to remind me but im happy to sell mine. Its a black one with a black wii-fit board (came as a retail set like that). With 2 black controllers (with the upgraded motion thing) and 2 nunchucks. Games wise its got the sports ones 1 other which i cant remember, and madworld which is incredibly violent and probably not one for the kids! All boxed and in as new condition.

I had a Matt Invisiframe kit fitted to my bike after I saw one on a v10 carbon in a local shop. Clicky really pleased with the result.

I’ve got red2012 and it’s a huge improvement over red/red black. Yaw mech works a treat – much better shifting than previous one. System is much quieter too.

Mind you same can be said for DA. The 10spd mechanical shifter feels horrible in use (IMO) but the new 11spd mechanical feels fantastic in use.

You will always get massively polarising opinions asking this, best is to try both and see which you prefer… I really like campag too 🙂

Ive owned and ridden more than my fair share and im pretty confident that my TRc is the best trail bike ive ever ridden. But that’s for me and i appreciate that they way it rides wont appeal to everyone

Mind you im just about to pull the trigger on a Nomad C too for more rowdy days and also the mega / Trans-Provence (if i get in).

Perhaps a Mojo HD with 2 shocks to switch between 140/160 would have been more cost effective…..

This post really doesnt help does it 😀

Uplift route is about 1.5 miles and 750+ft of elevation.

AKA not much fun to pedal up.

Proper hanger alignment tool is usually the best bet, might be worth a quick trip to the lbs.

Ridden everything there fairly comfortably on my TRc which is 125. There are a few sections (and most of the black-black) where a bigger bike would certainly be a tad quicker but overall i didn’t feel like the bike held me back.

Ready to roll, will report back after the weekend.

Got to say aswell, had my frame done over by invisiframe before i rebuilt with the xx1 and feel its worthy of a mention. Bloody fantastic job and very pleased with the finish. The gloss stuff (on matt finish) i had previous looked really patchy.

Matt I’ve been running Rise60s on it for a while and the freehub system took about 2 mins to change over – freehub kit came with everything for QR and 142×12. From what I’ve heard hope/dtswiss xD bodies are pretty much ready to go.

njee the cassette is very impressive – dont get me wrong its BIG but its not really that much bigger than a 11-36

Going on my TRc for now – its all built apart from the chain which ive only just realised hasnt arrived! Freehub/cassette lockring system is nice and neat too.

    Trigger (with inner cable) 108g
Grip shift (with inner cable) 105g
    Grip shift half grip 36g

Probably my no1 attention to detail pet hate on bike builds is a non-aligned headset! Regardless of the cables i couldn’t live with that. Shoddy job.

The point is it allows more people to comfortably use a 1x system as it gives a spread not a million miles away from a 2×10 setup.

Those currently running a 1×10 setup and enjoying the benefits can have the same but with a much wider spread of gears with no bigger jumps than current equipment allows.

Whats more the point in the long run is that if the front mech is taken out of the frame design equation it opens up many avenues.

Take your example 32-22 with 11-34
    (These are calcuatled for 26×2.25)
    Lowest gear inches = 17.2
    Highest gear inches = 77.1

    Most common 2×10 setup – 26/39 with 11-36
    Lowest gear inches = 19.1
    Highest gear inches = 94.1

    Now for 1×11 with a 32/30/28 ring.
    Lowest gear inches = 20.2/18.8/17.8
    Highest gear inches = 84.8/79.5/74.2

And for a common 1×10 setup with 32/34 on an 11-36
    Lowest gear inches 23.6/24.9
    Highest gear inches 77.1/81.9

I currently run 1×10 34 11-36 on my mtbs – i get a lower low gear and a higher high gear with no bigger jumps running a 32t ring on the xx1.. whats not to like!
