Mine’s on ebay right now – an estate like the one above, but in slightly better nick 😯 Did you walk away from that unscathed PJ?

    Item no. 280745312261 btw…

I can confirm that HTC’s help line is utterly hopeless, “Er, um, I don’t really know anything about computers…”

Orange not helping either, but at least the guy I spoke to spoke English.

After multiple installs and reinstalls I’m completely stuck. The only guys who seem to have sorted this issue were the guys doing something daft already (not using a USB2 port etc.).

It’s extremely annoying as I use my phone calendar all the time to help run my photography business. Just very frustrated and peeved with nowhere left to turn.

I remeber having these issues five years ago with my first ever smartphone – you’d think they’d have sorted it by now FFS!!!! How hard can it be?

There are plenty labs who will mount your photos onto foamcore type stuff for you – I had 12 done for my degree show and it ain’t cheap! All the materials are acid free and the glue won’t leech into your print, ruining it. I’d pay to have it done, rather than try and DIY it.

As for all your wee 6x4s, just do the rounds of charity shops and buy loads of cheap frames for 20p a time!

My main bike gets replaced every time it gets stolen 🙁 Managed to hang onto this one for nearly three years now….

That’s a silly idea. If compasses get beaten up (as a stem cap one certainly would) they stop working.

Yeah – Photobox are OK, but Peak Imaging if you want better quality.

Only two RLJers too (at least for the first red light – couldn’t be @rsed watching the rest, as I guess nothing much else happens…). Now that is impressive!

GrahamS – that’s also very pretty and I see you can buy one for a shade under £400… What I’d really like is a compact camera with an F mount and a hotshoe 😉 But that P7100 would be a nice compromise, especially given that it has Manual, AP and SP modes.

It’s a new accessory port for these add-ons.

Not being able to use existing flashguns or radio triggers would be a huge turn off for me… I know it’s really just a point ‘n’ shoot but seems a shame.

It does look pretty. And I see there’s an F mount adaptor so you can use any Nikon AF-S lens. I’m guessing that’s a hotshoe under that little slidey bit of plastic on the top too….

Tempting. Good job I’m skint 🙂

For me, it’s about having reliable, dependable kit you can trust to do a good job. And stuff that works the way you want it to.

In that case stick with Nikon. Over on the DWF (Digital Wedding Forum) screeds of shooters have migrated to Nikon over the last decade due to dodgy ‘L’ glass. Yes, the bodies are great, but the glass is unreliable in terms of focussing issues…

My mate’s doing the photography for that, for Privateer Magazine. His last Facebook update seemed to be saying it was taking somewhat longer than planned… What a mentalist, but hats off nonetheless!

Nobby – if it was a small dog, I’d have been tempted to pick it up, roll it in its own mess and hand it back to the owner. Dogs don’t mind poo, mostly, but she would 🙂

So it’s okay to allow your dog to shit on the beach and leave it then, because other people and organisations don’t care about our coastline either?

Yes mastiles. That is exactly what he said.

Sigh. Really din’t want to get drawn in, but the tractor beam was set to high… I have a dog and always pick up its poo, unless I’m properly out in the countryside, in which case it gets flicked well off the path and into the undergrowth.

I cannot though, control when and where my dog takes a dump. If he is having a walk on a beach, at the right time of year, and he decides to squat, there’s nothing anyone can do about it. And why on earth would you anyway?! So long as you pick it up…. Yes I know he’s going to do it at some point on a walk, but there isn’t a 6 foot square patch of grass where dogs automatically carp.

I hate getting covered in the stuff as much as anyone else though and will always let an owner know if their animal has fouled somewhere – they always pretend not to have noticed, or even deny that their dog did it. I always have plenty of spare bags so they haven’t any excuses.

Gary M – it reads to me like she just wanted to know what kind of stain she was dealing with initially. That is, she perhaps wanted to know if she could attack it with water and soap, or whether it was going to need ammonia or professional cleaning…

If I could, I definitely would upgrade to full frame (probably will next year depending on how many weddings I book). But not for the same reasons as you Elf. I also come from a long line of old, metal-bodied Nikons and still have an F4s and a couple of FM2ns.

But I use two D300s for all my work (and a D200 backup which never sees the light of day). And the only reason I’ll be upgrading is better performance in low light. The D300 is light years better than the D200, and I’ve heard from plenty of other pros that the D700 is light years better than the D300.

I’ve had zero issues moving from 35mm lens expectations to crop sensor lenses though – it takes about a day to get your head round the fact that your 50mm is now a perfect portrait lens 🙂 If I was going to get a do-it-all lens, I would get the 18-70mm one mentioned above – it’s immense. I had one which came with my first ever D70s – I gave the whole kit to my Mum and really miss the lens…

Allowing animals to defecate in public spaces has no place in modern society

That ^^^ is almost the stupidest thing I’ve read in one of these predictable ‘debates’. I’m tempted to go find a picture of, say, a badger in a nappy…

Was supposed to be working at the ski slope at 9 this morning, but was up until 6 looking for a runaway dog…. We’re looking after her for a few days – took her out with my dog for a late walkies at 8 o’ clock last night and she legged it off after a hare. Was still looking as the sun rose so didn’t make it to work. Found her eventually but far too knackered to go for a ride.

7dayshop.com. That is all. Well, not quite all…. I’ve been using their 2900 mAh rechargeable AAs in my flashguns since they started selling them. Their chargers also have a discharge function which I use regularly. Works very well….

Strangely, I’ve just posted my Ford with a towbar in the classifieds HERE

I thought having a towbar would have been a good thing 🙂

No good to you though OP – mileage considerably higher than what you’re looking at!!

    3) – allow police to do random stops – at the moment they need suspicion

Do they? Whenever I watch those ‘Cops with Cameras’ shows, they seem to stop folk willy-nilly. Occasionally, the voiceover will pronounce that a car has been stopped because “Gigsy’s copper’s nose” has smelt something….

May I just say, that I can’t wait for the local theiving barstewards to try breaking into my garage again (DH4 4LN – bring it). I can hardly contain myself! Suffice to say, they’ll leave with ringing ears – tinitus is for LIFE!!!! AAAAArrrGhhh. And that’s on a good day when I’ve unpluggd the handle from the mains…

OP – sorry to hear that. If it’s any consolation, my mate rode from the top of Glentress’ black run with no brakes at all, having wrapped the cables round a pointy tree. He still managed to beat the rest of us by 20 seconds 😐

+1 for the Snugpak – mine’s a softie in dark green. Bought it brand new off a dodgy quartermaster on ebay.

3 Season – check, down – sadly no. But if you kneel on the top-notch compresion sack you can get it down to the size of a football.

Not actually oficially endorsed by the military – but once the squaddies finish basic training, they all ditch their current issue bags and buy a Snugpak. Which is why I bought mine 🙂

Lovely here in NE England – hardpacked and just moist enough to give a bit of grip without clagging up the drivetrain. Four of us heading out on a nightride tomorrow from DH4 4LN if anyone fancies tagging along?

And yours truly got a once round the car park on the belt-driven monster too!

[duncan_bannantyne] Let me tell you where I am [/db].

This has rankled with me since reading a post on here a year or so ago, whereupon a guide in foreign climes (honestly can’t remember his handle) forced one of his clients to go and retrieve a skin thrown into a bush. It sounded like the client was horribly humiliated in front of all the other guests and was made to feel like he’d chucked a bag of sh1te out of his car window.

I’m most definitely in the camp which believes a well hidden skin is better off decomposing in natural surrounds than in a bin bag in a landfill.

EDIT; and for that reason, hope ye slip on my discarded skin – what tyres for banana skids?

You can easily bunnyhop a pile of horse poo. Postal workers with guns would need a decent take off ramp.

Hmmm. Spent a year cycling around Edinburgh some years ago and most days involved traversing the city at least twice. I really enjoyed it – especially the network of old railway lines / canals. And I honestly thought the cars and buses were, on the whole, quite bike-aware.

Sunderland though 😯 Up until very recently, bikes just didn’t go on the roads. There’d be the odd old chap off to fish off the pier with rod and baitbox on the rack, always on the pavement.

The lack of bikes meant that absolutely no-one knew what to do when they encountered one on the roads – they literally just tried to drive through you. It’s slowly getting better with all the brand new road bikes wibbling about all over the place, but I still drive to work, after several near misses in a row, a few years back….

(I hope that does not mean getting STW towers to kill the thread as a total loss of face would result)

Nothing to add really, apart from the observation that the fact the thread has gone on for five pages probably gives an insight into the thinking at STW Towers. That said, they’re swift enough to shut down completely disappear innocent threads when a big company gets all lawyered up, as I’ve discovered…

I’ll have to see who’s cheapest when I add a memory card and a spare battery

Not trying to be patronising, but different companies do different things better than others…. 7dayshop for your spare batteries (their own brand are brilliant – better than the originals IMHO) and the same for your memory cards (but buy branded – Sandisk / Kingston are good). Or mymemory are also excellent for cards, and you can be pretty sure you’re not getting dodgy copies (there’s a lot of fakery going on with CF cards).

    Enjoy the new toys!
