Just changed to the Met Kaos after five years with various xens. For my head its a much better fit and cheaper if you can bag an online deal.

no contest….the ride quality of a Heckler outshines the 5 IMO.

    I totally agree.

    Minimum security means:
The door used as the final exit from the dwelling must be fitted with a 5 lever mortice deadlock complying with BS3621 or a lock of superior quality approved by us.
All other external doors must be secured in a similar manner as described above or must be fitted top and bottom with mortice or surface mounted bolts with detachable keys.
All accessible windows must be fitted with key operated window locks with detachable keys.
Sliding patio doors must be fitted with key operated security locks top and bottom with detachable keys

We have double glazing throughout and UPVC doors front and back. Are these of superior quality?

Winlatter was chocker on Sunday. We arrived at 9ish and there must have been a dozen cars at most. By midday the car park was full. It was the 1st weekend of the school hols and the weather forecast was so wrong.

Road it for the 1st time last Sunday. South loop is way better than the north IMO. I like the more rocky/mountain feeling on the south loop.

Didn't do the blue but from others were saying on Sunday it is definitely worth a ride.

I was also rather impressed with the quality of the bike shop. Plenty of stock and a nice range of stuff to.

Mountain Hardwear Epic. Conduit fabric is very breathable. You can pick them up for £60 or less (1/2 price +). Pit zips, good hood that folds down. Lightweight and small pack size and short length.

In Kielder two weeks ago and the midge level was low. I usually get attacked pretty badly but left with only three bites.

    Autan works really well.

Its been chucking it down in the NE (like the rest of the UK), if this is followed by a nice warm/humid spell then the midge will be loving it.

Camped at Jasper last July/August. Very hot during the day, very cool on the eve/night. I used a one season synthetic bag – Wild country Yukon and was plenty warm enough.

I have a hope that has been on way over a year. Still A1. No jet washing is the key. Much better sealed than the acros one I had.

To remove the U turn unit remove the top dial (watch out for the ball bearings & springs underneath) and use a 28mm socket to undo. Undo the allen bolt on the lower leg part of the way out and give it a whack with a rubber mallet. Then fully undo and remove the U turn unit. For your mate he’ll be able to check out the spring to see if there is an issue. Not sure what the air unit looks like or what can be done with it once out.

Reverse to reassemble. You can stop loss of oil by carrying out the above procedure with the fork in a horizontal position. I did this to swap my u-turn spring out for a lighter one.

Oil can be had from a motorbike shop.

I had a MK1 130 BHP 1.9TDI SE. Two bikes plus kit no issue in bike bags. Without the bags I reckon three would go in with wheels off.. Check out seatcupra.net great forum. The only issue you may have is the ground clearance with the body kit. Thats why I went for the 130SE.

I ordered some 2.2 ust’s and they arrived Monday. Advertised as having BC. No marking on the box or tyre and made in Taiwan. I contacted the shop who checked it out with who ever does Continental tyres in the UK, here is the reply –

    Hi Philip,

Thank you for your e-mail and patience, we have now had this checked by the UK brand manager, he says that this is correct and the tyres are as described and contain Black Chilli, however if you are not happy with the product then you are eligible to send it back under the returns policy.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

    Kind Regards

    Peter

ISCG not an issue. I run a DRS with a Hope BB and Shimano XT chainset works great. Couldn’t get it to work with my RF atlas cranks, the chainline was just too tight.

All you need to know about owning a SC – http://forums.mtbr.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8

DHX Air is not good on the older models. The newer model handles air shocks better but still not A1. Bigger head tube = a stronger/stiffer frame/fork.

Not sure if this helps but the Lyrik can have its Uturn swapped out for the 2step air unit. I would imagine the Domain would be the same.

Wheel pro. He takes care of the seal strips and valves, plus gives the wheels a tweak. Cost is retail but worth it for the extra bits and backup.

I have been looking at just the same thing. Have gone for a set of Stans flow with Pro II hubs. Will hopefully have them Tuesday/Wednesday. Decided on a set of Conti Rubber Queen 2.2’s to go with them. This will be my 1st set of tubeless!

Should have also said about the bike. My mates have a reign and meta 5 both clamp really well, much better than my large heckler.

I have a pair of Thule 591’s and use an additional set of straps to fasten the bike to the clamping arm, so that if the clamp was to release the strap would do its bit to keep the bike in position. Touch wood all been well so far.

Following my mate (he uses the 591) down country roads shows the clamp system to be pretty good. A bit of bike wobble but nothing major.
