Put 2.2s with tubes on the GFs bike. I have 2.2 USTs on mine. The walls on the non ust are much thinner. Worth a go though.

Was there last Friday just after the snow, then Monday and Wednesday. Couldn't get off the forest roads on Friday. By Wednesday most trails were fully open or in the process of being cleared of tree fall. Rode the Blue for the 1st time with the GF. I really liked the blue decent the one with the steep bridge ramp – just before good game.

I believe the Black was the only one the forestry guys hadn't got to.

2 or 3 PIR security lights inside. Master switch somewhere in the main house.

Make sure they have more than enough light to work on the bikes.

Mates brakes failed a few years back when were out in the dales. He ended up hitting a dry stone wall, flew through the air before resting face down on the road. The rear tyre exploded as the bike hit the wall. Really nasty ankle/leg break. Airlifted out. Still has loads of metal work in place.

Been running RQ UST in 2.2 for almost a year. It's a great tyre. Much better rolling resistance that I thought for the size. The 2.2 is the same as my Bontrager Big Earl 2.5s

I have Hope pro II hubs and Lyriks. No issues at all. Are the cups on the correct sides, are they locked in correcty with the metal do-da clip?

I had a MULE before moving to an Osprey Talon 11. It was the best move ever. I find that the talon sits on my back much better. I don't feel as though its getting in way as the MULE did. The additional few litres on the talon meant that I didnt need to use a larger bag for winter when carrying extra layers, as i could squeeze all of my kit into the talon at a push.

The raptor has taken many of the features of the talon and added some bits and bobs that would be useful for bikers. Reviews in the walking mags don't rate the raptor due to its distribution of volume, ie pockets for your pump, tubes etc. But they did note that for biking it would be ideal.

I have had three MULES – old and new version as well as a HAWG and Mayhem?

All are long gone and I use osprey talons for both walking and biking. I have the 11, 22 and 33.

Not been up there for a while. But from work I can see that the hills are still well covered in snow.

Squirt some brake cleaner onto a lint free cloth or kitchen towel and then run the mouse ball over the cloth, few linear moves and a few circles. 2-3 mins will clean the scroll ball up nicely.

Aldi had some. £14 or so for tops, and the same for bottoms. My local Aldi had one pair of XL LJ's left. The material was pretty good. A very light weight merino very much like the lightest Icebreaker kit.

Cotswold has North Face zipped tops and LJ's in the sale. I have a pair of LJ's and they are nice.

My personal fave is Embers Merino. http://www.embersmerino.com/

A few bits and bobs in the sale.

I have a Octavia 2.0 TDI VRS. No issues carrying two bikes and two lots of kit inside. The car doesn't run that low to the ground. No daft sideskirts to worry about.

Check out briskoda.net a very active UK skoda forum.

If its only 6weeks they may still honour the warranty especially if its a known issue. The ECU is the cars brain, essentially a computer that controls just about all settings.

Have they plugged the car in and ran diagnostics? Do they know it definitely is the ECU?

Kaos UL is a great fit for me. Got mine for under £80 from CRC. A few shops on ebay have them for a better price than the £100+ RRP

Flaks, Half jackets. if bought as an array they'll have clear lenses as part of the package. If not I think they run at about £20 or so.

I moved from a xen to a Kaos UL. Best decision made for a new bit of kit in ages. Well built, good coverage, good peak and nice and cool.

Plenty in Vancouver. Was there last year.

Grouse Mountain and the Grouse Grind
    Callipeno (SP?) suspension bridge
A day in Stanley Park, hire bikes, roller blades etc. Also a sea life centre in there but didn't go in.
    Granville Market
    Maritime Museum
    Space Centre

Stayed at the Delta Suites in both Vancouver and Whistler. In Whistler this consisted of a double bed room, lounge with double sofa bed, bathroom and full kitchen, plus balcony

They go for silly high prices on ebay. You won't lose much on what you paid for it. I'd stick a new HD in. I have done it on an ibook and its pretty straight forward. Lots of DIY guides on the net.

Just get a map and string some route together, loads to choose from. I normally ride out of Reeth or Gunnerside, but further south (Hawes, Settle) are some other excellent routes. The Dales guide book (north and south) are also worth getting if you are in need of inspiration.

    Down or synthetic?

I have recently bought a rab quantum 250 bag. Really good, down, small pack size. BUT £150.

Any of the mountain equipment synthetic bags are also pretty good.

Mountain Hardware are also one of my favourite brands. The kit is pretty tough.
