Utter garbage, no basis in fact or science whatsoever.

Many years ago I ordered a cuatom built wheelset from a well known wizardy online retailer. Specced deore hubs but they arrived with pro2s. To my great shame I said said nothing and kept them, although I’ve made a point of using said retailer wherever possible ever since so they’ll have made their money back by now. Fantastic wheels by the way, nearly 10 years old and I’ve never even had to true them.

Unfortunately that doesn’t work on my phone. The best I can do is recovery mode where I get to chose between:

    Reboot system now
    Apply update from external storage
    Wipe data/factory reset
    Wipe cache partition
    Apply update from cache

You realise a headline isn’t meant to contain all the detail of the story? I can’t see why anyone would get worked up about this, but even if you did, you have to read all of 4 words into the article for the headline to be “corrected”.

Er… that article starts with the words “the last british resident”.

Junkyard, you’re banging your head against a brick wall here. There are some people on here with entrenched views so hateful and objectionable that I used to hope they got banned. Then I realised that they’re free to hold those views, even if it makes them deeply unpleasant individuals. Just do what I do now and ignore them, much of it is so ridiculous it just looks like they’re parodying themselves anyway.

Religion is just a mask that idiots on all sides wear, they’re all equally ludicrous fairy stories. Bad people exist and indoctrinate weak or vulnerable others, but if it wasn’t in the name of religion it would be something else.

I’ve nothing against vests or t-shirts so I’d say yes. It’d be a no to short-sleeved shirts though. Or guns, obviously.

Cool, so my new Volvo has had 14 (or 74) miles of being ragged around a track/port/to the bike/fish & chip shop then.

Went on Monday, it was actually better than I’d expected/feared. The band can actually play, Mick in particular is much better than I’d realised, but the vocals are pretty awful. Stage show is suitably ridiculous, I heard afterwards there are more than 350 pyro cues.

More importantly I’m completely in love with Alice Cooper’s new guitarist Nita Strauss. Google is your friend.

It was nothing more than a mistake, but he was too quick to make the decision and/or influenced by aussie appeals. He also knew he was wrong but wasn’t man enough to stay on the pitch to shake hands. Any one of those things makes him unsuitable to referee at that level in my book.

Excellent, so we’re in the semi final then? Or are we replaying the last 2 min?

Heard on the radio that Joubert headed straight down the tunnell at full time, without waiting for the players or his assistants. I’d say the guy doesn’t deserve much respect after that.

It’s very sad that after a performance like that much of the talk is about the referee. He shouldn’t get near another game at this or any other world cup.

Looked like a late hit on Hogg. Penalty there and the game would have been over.

That’s an exceptional bad call for a world cup quarter final referee.

What I’ve read above are people who had hired or test driven a Duster and didn’t like it, and people who actually own and live with one who do like it. So how is that I’m making excuses for something we’re perfectly happy with? Our car doesn’t rattle, rust or fall apart, it meets our expectations as a means of transporting the family around.

Other people might value some/more luxury, and that’s fine, but we’re not fussed about that. We could have spent more on a ‘nicer’ new car or the same on a ‘nicer’ second hand one, but we chose not to because we’d rather spend that money on things that do matter to us.

As I said, you either get it or you don’t.

Angeldust – did you miss the part where I said we have one and we like it? Neither my wife or I have any problems with the build quality, and I couldn’t care less if the interior is plastic. We’ve had 2.5 years now, from new, and had no problems whatsoever.

It’s a car for people who don’t care about cars. I suspect you either get that or you don’t.

Not really, no. They’d be different options though. The Duster is a utilitarian car for people who value that, who just want a car to be a car and don’t care about all the peripheral niceties or impressing the neighbours. It’s not competing with higher spec cars.

Incidentally I had a new Quashqai for a few months earlier this year. Hateful thing, couldn’t wait to give it back.

We hired one two years ago in Corsica and are still laughing about it

Then I’d say you need to get out more!

My wife has one, we both like it and would buy another (but we intend to keep this one for it’s full lifetime).

The inverted snobbery angle appealed to us, we find cars as status symbols quite an amusing concept.

I actually chose the Cooker 1 over the slightly cheaper and much prettier Marin Pine Mountain 1 because it’s QR front and rear, meaning I can swap in/out a set of 29er wheels I already have with zero faff.

No idea, but I’ve ordered a Charge Cooker so I’ll soon find out. I’m no niche-monger and the wheel size debate bores me to tears, but I liked the look of this for the riding I do and the price was right. I don’t see it as drastically different from running big DH tyres for everything on a hardtail like me and my mates did in the 90s, and it was fun then…

You seem to have made it abundantly clear you’re not going to be a client of theirs so why would they care about pissing you off?

In my experience on both sides of the fence, and as a candidate, people tend to get the recruitment consultants they deserve. Assume they’re all scum, act like that and the good ones won’t go near you.

I think that’s a difference between the 0 (singlespeed) and the 1 then. The spec on the charge website definitely says the fork is suspension corrected and the frame has a tapered headtube. Still leaves the issue of the hub but that’s not a huge deal.

    unknown

What are the issues with upgrading the fork? I’d assumed the frame is the same as the bikes further up the range which come with suspension, no?

So when I stuffed the biggest tyre I could fit on the back of my GT Timberline, and had a big DH tyre up front, in about 1997… that was 26+ then was it?
