looking at the real problems that should be solved – how many did Blair and Bush kill in Iraq ? North of 100,000 I assume

You don’t feel that maybe 9/11 set Iraq and Afghanistan in motion?

Anyway I’m glad that nothing’s offensive any more, I think I’ll dress up as the battle of the Somme this Sunday. Should be s laugh, eh?

The whole thing’s a bunch of arse, the fact that it now seems to last 3 months makes it even worse.

A couple of years ago I got permission from the wife to cancel Xmas. We didn’t do presents, told each set of in-laws we were going to the others, had a Chinese takeaway and watched die hard then gremlins. Best Xmas day ever.

What’s slightly different is that they didn’t dress as the person responsible but as the act itself. Would it have been OK to dress as a blown up London bus, or as Auschwitz? I’m not an easily offended hand-wringer but it crossed a line for me, more for it’s capacity to offend those closer to the tragedy than anything else. Having said that they’re not evil people or anything, just very very stupid. And with a couple of years to go before graduation they’ve already ruled themselves out of a lot of graduate jobs. Competition is fierce and Google doesn’t forget.

I doubt it would when climbing, which is when it’s likely to be used. Might do I’d you set off down the trail with it locked out, although I expect you’d realise your mistake pretty sharpish.

The saddest thing is those stupid girls would only have been about 8 in 2001. Is that how quickly something the true horror of an event like 9/11 slips out of the public consciousness or is it so normal to them that they couldn’t understand it would cause offense. Or are they just terminally stupid bints?

I am and will probably always remain a two-finger braker

Very much this for me too. Never felt like a disadvantage either.

My by-no-means-high-end x fusion 02RLC shock has pro-pedal-a-like and a full lockout. I’m glad it has both but the full lockout gets plenty of use and I’d be reluctant to give it up.

Indeed they are. Hope they’ve got some more left as my bike budget has been frozen until I sell my flat…

Aagggrrrrhhhhh! Or it puts you less in pocket, or it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference. The policy is what it is and you don’t even know if you’re up or down because of it. I’m out.

SO HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU’RE OUT OF POCKET?!

    Edit: Nice ninja edit

It’s totally reasonable to not be out of pocket when working away from base.

Be that as it may, molgrips isn’t out of pocket. If he’d answered any of the “wrong” questions about the impact of his free breakfasts and dinners vs paid for lunches on his bottom line that would be (even more) clear.

LOL at not answering the “wrong” questions!

Anyway, this expenses policy, does it have pictures? Presumably yes, otherwise how would you know what you’re getting? So my advice is to look at the pictures.

ds3000 just seen your post, that would be great if you could. I’ll email you later.

I used to get the train through, then get off and ride along the canal from either Falkirk or linlithgow, plus the occasional road ride all the way along the a89.

It’s getting so I don’t recognise my sport/hobby any more. I just long for the days when we all rode bikes… most of us had one bike… it was variously great, OK or a bit shit because it got used for everything. Sure bikes are way better now, and we’re probably all going faster, but are we having any more fun?

I call people that say “hence why” cretins. OP you are a cretin.

No deal for me. Parts should be replaced like for like. The whole reason for compulsory 3rd party insurance is so that those who weren’t at fault can be fully compensated, regardless of the state of the driver’s bank balance.

Yep, enjoyed that and only one off. I’d go back next year (with mud tyres), with a couple of tweaks it could be even better.

Isn’t the logbook different to the V5? The er… book that you um… log the services in?

    OP’s for sale thread

But… but… there are no pictures in your for sale thread – how do we know what you’re selling?

Some good advice here thanks. It’s not a case of struggling to pay the mortgage, more that we need to move (Mrs has to be closer to new job and elderly parents). Rental market is strong and I could cover any gaps of a couple of months easy enough, might see if I convince them to allow me to let.

If you’re watching Mr Bank, the handing keys back, faking death etc was a joke!

Faking my own death has been discussed, I’m worth a hell of a lot more dead than alive…

I’d much rather do it legitimately if possible, but they are making it hard to deal with them. Hopefully it sells and I don’t have to take either option.

I’d drop the price if I could but I can’t, which is why I’m looking at letting as a backup. As it is I’ll be lucky to break even on what’s owed on the mortgage, never mind the £1000s spent on improvements and 15% drop in value over the past 6 years. Mistakes were made, timing was bad.

I’d be happy to hand the keys back to the mortgage company if that were an option!

she is an SEN (special education needs) teacher in a rough-ass inner-city academy. Dealing with difficult teenagers and their ‘challenging’ behaviour is what she does for a living. And she’s very good at it.

Is the kid in any way resentful of mum’s job? Acting up like her “clients” would be a good way to get her attention. To be fair it does sound like it’s gone beyond that though.

Onto page 3 and no mention of the original Z1 Bombers? Suspension that actually worked (even if it was a bit heavy)!

Disc brakes weren’t universally liked in the early days. Don’t remember anyone having a bad word to say about v brakes though.

Regardless of the bike’s dodgy or otherwise provenance, I wouldn’t trust this seller to tie his own shoelaces, much less properly maintain an expensive mountain bike.

Looking forward to it but no idea what to expect – never ridden in the area and not done one of these new-fangled enduros before. Probably riding a cannondale gemini, but I won’t be troubling the upper reaches of the leaderboard that’s for sure!

    Yes, you have sold it.

No he hasn’t. When I sell something I generally like to receive some money in return. As nice as a handshake is, I don’t think I’d swap one for a car.

I thought the bazinga was implied.

The serious point is that morality is not an absolute so why pick an arbitrary gesture like a handshake as the point of no return over, say a verbal offer being accepted?

    unknown

According to my moral compass an offer over the phone is completely binding. Welching on an offer over the phone is pure greed, a low down shitty thing to do. Pfft, don’t people have any integrity any more?
