…and how on earth do you people cope with oral sex?

just fine (when the opportunity arises), but the major difference is with OS i do have a say as to who’s legs I shove my face inbetween.

Not as much of a say as I’d like or I’d be locked in a hotel room with Rachel Weisz right now, not conversing with you unhygenic poo-handed people ;)

Strava worry discussed in a few other threads, is both the sharing of secret cheeky rides, and the urge of people cut corners and straight line paths to get the fastest time on a ‘section’. Apparently it allows timings on specific sections.

Personally i don’t think it will help people do anything they could not do before, but it might encourage the type of epople who straight line to get fastest time to do so (or put in extra runs to shave seconds), or increase the number of people on a cheeky path which at the moment is tolerated by community/landowner. Its a factor in the big world of factors, how big remains to be seen.

You get on a train/bus/go to public place and sit where as many people can see you as possible and ostentatiously swipe at it in the hope of being noticed.

Find other Ipad owners and talk about your ipads…

I’m not being facetious, I just have very few qualms about the issue and wonder what life must be like for you guys..

It doesn’t change how i live my life, I’m just assuming that if you offered me a buscuit and I rubbed my todger over the packet you’d be a bit put out, but if i’ve been to the bog and not washed my hands, and fondle your buscuits you’re ok with it, as you don’t explicitly know about it.

@anjs, only at a certain concentration of urea, and only the moment it is produced, then it breaks down and gets funky (not in a good James Brown kind of way)

I can’t be bothered to wash my hands every time I go to to the loo

All you really needed to post there. thing is this is a prevailing tendancy, hence the story about the peanuts in a pub. Dirty mingers are out their, touching things, right now. Its best just not to the think about it. Especially when buying fruit and a veg…

Anyone else witness people going straight from the urinals to the hand driers? Seen this a couple of times… Then learned to leave the bogs by prying the door open around the frame…

No, the bike would almost certainly be braking the law and could be prosecuted. You’d be alright though.

Should it not be made a Strava segment?

that is an ammusing idea, two birds, one stone… (sorry I’m in the worried about strava camp)

Anyway, just to get serious for a moment. I have now heard from several sources including my MP that an Access Consultation is on the horizon. Maybe this is something we can also highlight as needing clarifacation in the short term. As it will allow people with inconsistent and bitty BW networks to link stuff together, pending further improvements and relaxations.

Individuals like this just like hating things and having arguements. Change the law and his petty hatings become irrelevent.

Normal Accompaniment… Just off the top of my head these things do not constitute a normal accompaniment.

    An Inflatable Shark
Giant Hamster Ball (a la Wayne Coyne)
    A Surf Board
    Stilts
    A stuffed Barn Owl
A 20″ canvas print of Paul Ross
    A Wicker phallus
    A Gimp

You get the idea, get some friends together, gather up some abnormal accompaniments, and put on a parade!!! (I’d suggest a sound system but that could give legitimate grounds for complaint, maybe you could all sing “bike” by pink floyd at a considerate and sensible volume.)

oooh swampi, could I offer you monetary exchange for one of them. You don’t live in Australia do you

@ Onxadog ahh, I though you were suggesting I just zip tie them on, I’ve had a long day and I’m being a bit of a dope…

I’d happily make do with a zip tie one, but would be interested in gecko ones if there’s a spare one floating about…

where are you? there should be a main station taking calls when the local one is closed.

Part of the standard blurb when hiring a car/van is you are responsible for all road use infractions during your hire. Company will dish the details out very quickly, there may even have been some damage to the van. Did you bleed on it?

for oil seals, google should give you the dimensions for Lyriks.

As bigyinn says, change them before they need it for happy longer last forks.

EDIT, it seems from Google you can’t just get the dust seals for lyriks, so you may be better just getting a seals kit for 20 quid.

At two years yes I would. TFTuned or other, you could get a full seal set or just the foam ring and dust seal and get some oil seal OEM from an online bearing supplier. I’ll find a link soonish. For fitting oil seals I would recommend the proper tool unless you have something hittable of just the right size, I didn’t and it took bloody ages.

You’ll only really know if they’re ‘needed’ once you get inside, is the oil dirty, is there crap in the foam ring, but by then you’ve taken you forks apart and are kind of commited, plus if you reach that stage you’re already riding about with nasty shit rubbing against stanchions etc. Having once neglected forks then opened them up to see the state inside I’m now pretty anal about fork care… There’s a definite cost to it but nothing to replacing forks at the mo.

Rockshox have holes in their online service guides, IIRC dual-air Pikes are pretty much the same assembly. 15w fork oil from memory. For starter pack the TFTuned fork service pack comes with fork greace for the dust seals and some fork oil. Same oil for the air spring assembly as well it think. And yeah don’t open the damping side at all, needs different oil(5w).

there are also good videos from Sram which are worth watching before your first go, take your time and give your self plenty of room to spread bits out. Lots of cloths for wipeing stuff down.

Its a vaguely worded and not very informative article, seems to be mostly about urban footpaths, which lets be honest we all ride anyway.

But the involvement of the Ramblers suggests rural access… still its a shame they’re not more open than they sound to be, you would think they would remember 12 years ago when all access was balls.

Unofficial advice from Pateley end, we do not have cheap accom, though Bewerley Hall Farm’s not bad, shame as we are the logical stop for those wanting to do it in two days. You’ll get good value around grassington i would have thought.

Please when descending down to PB don’t bomb down, when they warn about 1 in 6 and tight turns they really mean it and we have lost people off the edge of those corners… resist the urge to let go! Also quarry lorries have **** the road surface so emergency braking not as effective as it could be.

Then pop in to the TIC for a voucher for free coffee and energy bars if you detour via stif :D

I’ve always opted to have the garden under my own care when renting, but usually its something you can discuss when signing up. Check your lease. If it was a wild mess when you moved in then the soil will be full of weed seeds and getting it back will be very hard work. Maybe if the landlord has someone come in and get it manageable, you could then take stewardship from then on. Shove some herbs/shrubs in if you want low maintenence. Sage and Oregano smother quite effectively.

Yeah I’ve this. I was told once that because Dot4 is so hydrophilic it will take in water over time despite the seals and so increase in volume. ie your brakes now have too much fluid in them. I’d recommend a bleed, in the mean time let a little fluid out.

+1 for the wet method here. I don’t hair dry the frame as with the water its a bit risky (shonky hair dryer), but i leave it near a radiator for an hour before i start and use warm water. While its there cut your shapes but leave the backing on.

Wet method (bucket of water with a few drops of washing up liquid) makes it much easier to avoid bubbles, position the tape. Do flat bits first as they’re a doddle, then do the bendy bits, and once its all done (with wet you won’t need to get it all to stick perfectly straight away), move to none soaked location and hair dry the lot, starting with and focusing on curved areas. Spend > 1 hour going over the whole thing with the hair drier to really fix the tape to the bike.

And as said above resist the urge to cut perfect intricate shapes to fit shape of your frame and get 100% coverage, A) it’s not possible B) it’s not necessary.

    its only water

I accept the premise of that, but if it’s anything like it is round me, excluding one ride that’s all track, then all the natural stuff is just a mess and in no way fun… Water just pouring out of the ground. Its gonna take so long for this to dry out…

Thanking god for a well made trail centre up the road right now.

While the tone of the OP is a bit OTT, I must confess to a similar rant of FB this weekend (more supporting mass suicide over murder) after abandoning a ride around my local loop this weekend, in 5 miles I encountered over 70 walkers, I greeted all with my standard warm cheeriness but the insular, soulless, joyless cold way many (not all) responded (if indeed they responded at all) did defeat me, I knew there would only be more around the second half of my loop, four abreast on a double track and making no effort narrow out (it was a tough climb where often i receive a greeting and some encouraging comments, or cheeky requests for a croggy or something). I decided that it must just have been Miserable ***king ***ting Walker day, chalked it up to badluck, went home and played batman instead…

Something about this last weekend did seem to bring them all out, on the flipside a friend of mine was out near Settle and didn’t see a soul.

    Yeah what joao3v16 said.

Going horse riding on a busy road at rushhour may not be ideal, it may have been unavoidable, you don’t know. Lets be honest the bridleway network of this country is stupid, it doesn’t connect, they often just end. Not a lot of choice but to take some road in somewhere along the way. Since living in the dales again for a while i’ve become quite pro horse again (despite the way they churn up the trails), this following a series of encounters in the Leeds suburbs and outlying areas with some amazingly irresponsible and agressive horse riders (all on bridleways).
