First off, take many spares, get a facer (if only so you can wear it and be rad, they are fun), Next off, ride within your limits, explore, and have fun. The blues and greend are AWESOME, and often less bumped and rutted. The Green from the non-chevannes side of Let Get is just rooty bliss, also the trail at les Linderats are more natural, less berms and table tops.

What will shock is the relentless gradient, do some arm and leg exercises before you go… I prepped last year by find a rought and rocky descent and riding it on the HT 3 times a week for a month, great calf workout.

Doubt it, commencal freehubs are very difficult to get, which is a massive pisser as they are pretty decent hubs if only yopu could replace the freehub body.

could try CRC since they import them now, and EBC used to have some, but check carefully, the pics on EBC don’t always match the product for parts, go on the written text.

I know the riding style you describe and I would suspect the same thing if i saw that on a well specced bike. I also would not mind the police asking me questions about my bikes. Even if I don’t have the receipt I can describe them in detail, and name the parts without looking. Someone who’s come by a nicked bike probably won’t know its an On-one 456, or a 456 On-one.

Pikes run 2.5 HR no problem, and you don’t want any other tyre for the alps unless you just happen to prefer a 2.5 minion. ST front, 2.35 60a rear is the tried an tested classic combo…

wow… yeah that’s like when they find the hidden room in the serial killer’s house and there’s just photos and book with strands of hair in it…

He really is an unpleasant man. And alone it seems. No supporting posts.

Awwwww. I confess I was rather delighted to discover the existence Mike. I did a lot of research and I feel now like I’ve known him all my life. Mainly cos he has been pasting the same body of text for at least 6 years… probably more…

One of the favourite responces I found was to this one from 2010, sent unsolicited to a B&B in Canada.

Does seem Mike has gone away though… that’s a shame. It will leave a gap in my life :D . But also pleasing, is there a prize we can claim for having worn him down?

You should put a NSFW on this, not cos its aginst any work policy, but snorting with laughter and spraying coffee over everything tends to get noticed…

    thanks for that… :o

New drops are in the open on the Red loop, so different one i think. Shame about over the road, it was just getting dry… again…

Yeah but it is a black optional

Glad you liked, I couldn’t go building today. Heard they got a lot done. New drops are closed again due to alterations and tweaks. For the greater good to make it better, promise!

How was the stuff over the road riding?

That is balls, do we know what silly showboating he was doing at the time? :D Not knocking it, I love CG’s no hands off the most tech thing on the mountain style, but I’d rather see him hit the podium. Him and peaty will be in it till they die i reckon.

Massive +1 to stealthcat, my mum was having serious indigestion/heart burn issues for i think 2 yrs, and had been to the doctor’s so I thought it was all ok, but it turns out she kept refusing endoscopies in preference of old wives treatments (a glass of hot water and lying on her tummy :?). Mums are like this, its familiar story round my way, too busy holding eveyrthing else together to worry about themselves. I wish I’d being more questioning. 12 to 18 months earlier it would have been a different story.

She just got back from the hospital today, bones have start crumbling and has a fractured leg from just going to the loo before her scan. This is happening so fast.

I’m the same, I didn’t report any, despite how close they came to actually taking me out…

If its in the paper it my be because they suspect there are others.

wouldn’t do any harm, but its a shame you didn’t at the time, as you could then refer to the earlier report, given the time between I doubt they could take it into account, unless they had other reports, which is very possible if the guy does it a lot.

All the best for his recovery. Is horrible watching them in hospital in pain and surrounded by tubes. My advice from few years down the line of a different story is take the time when recovered and do some really good stuff together. Bowel cancer is one of the betters ones as I understand for recovery and you sound to have caught it early, but you can never really know its all chance and percentages.

Mother of Homer was diagnosed with a tumour in the oesophagus a little over a year ago. Chemo and then a really serious op and it looked good until about march. But sadly has spread we’re now in the six weeks territory. I was lucky enough to have moved in with my parents a few years ago and very glad I did now. We made the best of her recovered time and it taught me not to take things for granted.

Healing vibes to all others effected. Cancer is quite officially a bag of balls.

I took, and needed, spare brakes (for a friend and planned in all honestly), fork, headset remover, usual tools, pads…

Basically if you have it, and can spare the space, take it. Prices high and +1 on mudtyres. We had a washout week the first time. Was hell!

Just read and commented on it, that mjvende is a bit of an idiot and has wound me up no end! Cock, anyone would think he was being a troll!

Having never encountered him before that was what I thought too… A little research reveals he was 100% serious. Part of me thinks the UK needs their own MJVande, there’s nothing for an argument like bat-shit insane, foaming at the mouth, lunatic rabid opposition.

Air ambulance costs pretty much the same if its flying as if its not. It’s the cost of having it all which is big. Often they will send it if it is beneficial and there is nothing more pressing for which it is needed. It may not be essential.

As someone involved in another FE mtb site +1 to stumpyjon, its just physically impossible to be on site and not look with an eye to issue and improvement each and every-time, like wise it’s equally impossible to control how people ride.

Does that tell you whether you were slower today because you weren’t climbing well or because of that headwind on a flat stretch? GPS (any GPS, not just Strava) can.

OK no, can it really detect wind speed?

I can normally tell that sort of thing myself though…

check facts on the type of bee before you act. But even when bees get right in your face and fly round you all they are doing is checking you out because they know you weren’t there before, they’re mapping you basically. A mate’s brother did his thesis in bees and they really are utterly remarkable…

Wasps on the other hand are total ****.

Self contradiction seems to be easy if you can only remember the last 4 words you said… and make trees look like members of Mensa…

How do these people survive to that age? what with the needs of modern life to cross roads and interect with electricity. I’m actually now beginning to doubt darwinism… some other force must be interfering to keep these morons alive..

.If you want to race, enter one.

    THIS!

They should just make it impossible to create segments which lose altitude – that would be pretty simple

This is a good idea, and would solve potential issues. But they’ll never do it, why would they deliberatly hobble their own product.

I have my own way of checking my full ride fitness… As I leave I look at the clock… When I get back I look at it again. I’m yet to come up with a catchy brand name though…

10-15 less psi in the neg is the standard in my experience.

I don’t rate segment times, its whole ride times for me. Do one section in awesome time but destroy yourself for the rest of the ride, fail imo. I think Strava will encourage a number of other bad things, but bad things that were happening and will happen anyway.

I’m also getting really bored of hearing about it, it seems to be everywhere. Can’t we just ride bikes and enjoy that?

#unklehomer’s phone can make calls, send sms messages and take very bad pictures and thats it. It is utterly unfondleable.

No… I think Jedi just gets things for free. :P

But seriously, I try to make myself wait 1 month minimum for things, if i still want them then they are least partly needed. If i’ve decided I want something else instead it was fancy and I saved myself money… kinda works…
