I would argue better (though admitedly more work) in that instance to have a narrower road with just driving lane and part and integrate a cycle lane onto a wider pavement. Or at least once you change it take the old lines off…

Hmmm… I wonder if givent he parked cars they were worried about vehicles pulling out. How many parked cars were there?

Myself, even if the cycle lane was a worse surface, I might hop into it to let someone by, and then return to the smoother road surface.

The combination with 2 abreast does seem to be taking the piss. But I don’t think people are this awkward just for the sake of it. Maybe they had some dodgy overtakes earlier and didn’t want to chance any more.

I have shimano MT41s which are on their way out, and no discontinued. Great for clearence and grip for that oh-so-important dab.

nearest replacement model seems to be the MT43

Really, I guess the meeting I was in this am was all lies then?

What? NHS wastes time and money on made up meetings? Where’s the tax payers alliance I want my money back!

On the original story, I’m fine with it in principle but would be concerned it would allow development to be further skewed towards things they can sell us, over things we need… (more antidepressants and erection pills etc).

hmmm. post your findings please. Less keen on going to it if it means irrevocably changing the fork. Would you be going to Avy from MC or MC-DH?

Bos won’t let anyone other than distributor be licensed service centre… This is why I’m not getting bos too. No parts, no service manual, keep pissing people off. Shame, but RS do none of that.

I reckon once she got the bolt on she should have committed straight off, but she hesitated, and gave mears the chance to recover

I think VP races better from behind tbh. Here’s hoping. Race two, trackstanding at the top and VP puts on a MOVE!!!

Was VPs move a reaction to AMs? If so, it’s seems harsh. Need to see the replay.

Mears elbowed and then leaned into VP. VP shoved across track and leaned back to prevent leaving track, counter the force. Mears stopped pushing and VP with no opposing force went over line. Only thing is didn’t then return to the centre of the lane but stayed very much on the red line. Maybe that’s what lost it for her?

I still don’t like Mears being rewarded for that, best to void the race if you insist on penalising VP

I think they ruled against her…

Fair enough if she was out but to give it to mears is rewarding bad riding. Should null the race and give em both a warning. (mears at fault in the interests of impartiality etc…)

great bikes, to honest the cracking issue got over blown, there was a problem with some of the bikes. But if it was one of those, unless its been ridden on nothing but tow paths it would very probably have gone by now. Front triangle on mine was replaced on warranty after under 1 yr. Not a very heavy one either.

I’m just about to get rid of my 07 meta 5 (new front triangle over 4 yrs old now), and even on its last ride part of me was still thinking, i could just keep this. Its been ragged round the alps and all over the shop. But I came into some money so am getting a meta AM

My advice would be get it. FWIW.

I’m amazed at this thread. Many sports/passtimes/hobbies have womens night, Its cos men can be leary pervs, its not always our fault, sometimes its just genetic and our eyes naturally rest there…

I have no problem with a once the week exclusion/bias in the other direction. Even more understandable in sport where skin tight clothing is the norm. A pity, but understandable. Damn, sorry. mind, See? keyboard interface not editing well yet. Need more coffee.

Thing that makes me and my mates uncomfortable when we get talking about the cycling community, or the mtb one, the serious one. Well, (and we tip toe round the issue cos we’re not sure how to say it and not seem, unPC for lack of a better adjective…) well. round here anyway. It really is very very white. no one says anything. we can’t work out why. but it is. There’s not much can be done about that in a positive action way without it seeming being terribly offensive. But I hope in ten years that’s no longer the case. But if you wanna get upset about the inclusiveness of our sport. get upset about that.

As others have said, ring the family, or if that’s not possible ask the nurses when you get there. They have a way of being very honest with out saying anything. Actually saying stuff can undo people, but believe what they are telling you. My Mum passed just over a month ago, and even though they had said 6 weeks I still didn’t really believe as she was sat talking to me and walking about etc. They called it to within 3 days.

Be Jolly, talk about the things you would normally talk about, share some memories, you may have to be most of the conversation. Be ready for him to look different, he may have trouble speaking and communicating, depending on medication/painkillers. It’s a hard thing but you will be glad you went. I watched so many people hold it together when visiting my mum and then crumble before they made it to the door. Sorry, not particularly helpful. But I guess my point is you will find the strength when you are there, but be prepared for it to leave once you are on your way home. Sun glasses can be a useful thing to have with you. All the best, hope it goes a well as can be.

Yes it does. It was off centre but not wildly. Moved it back towards the middle… Will pay specific attention to that next time I have them in bits.

I’ve not encountered any for while now as i’ve been riding in the evenings. I shall await with interest.

I’m not anti walker, but I am anti rude miserable people who come to where I live and won’t even say Hello when i pass them. Don’t spend any money in the town, and then come into my place of work and complain there are nettles on a footpath, or not signposts every ten metres, or cows in a field. Often behaving obstructivley, and just sometimes, dangerously on the trails.

I have developed however a wonderful targeted tactic for really annoying the miserable ones, while in no way effecting the nice cheery ones (usually but not always, the women IME). Be Polite, and outwardly cheery, jovial and nice. The haters can’t bear it. And don’t know how to respond to it. And to the others, you’re just being nice, and they like it. Its 100% effective.

with all the BBC channels there was a channel that for 5 minutes, was just following him about while he just hugged strangers from the audience and shook peoples hands. Had a little josh with the guy in the mascot costume. I could have watched that all night, it was lovely.

sorry drac, I was too slow there… :D
