Hmmm, on 80s TV, A Very British Coup remains one of my faves.

Agree on Tinker Tailor, though I love the film, the did the right thing by changing everything, made it cinematic. But true Le Carre is in the dialogue… it needs time. Still hope they make Smiley’s People though, or go back and make Call for the Dead.

    hmmmm… Agutter…

It’s very different, more like the West Wing, but eeeeviiiil.

But I’m quite the Spacey fan. Not as much as I am a Richardson fan, but still quite a fan.

Pretty sure its first answer unless we’re playing by the Frankhouse deviations, and if we are no-one’s mentioned it, I think he gets detained by transport police and misses three goes.

there is no way that I can afford an account with bbr.com.

Neither in all honestly, can I, but that does make a good chilean merlot taste all the finer IMO. Everyone deserves a treat.

FWIW, I stumped up the capital for about 30 bottles 7 or so years ago, then Buy them from the system on a bottle by bottle basis, rounding up the cost to the nearest 50p, to protect against inflation, you get what would be a £10 bottle in a supermarket, for about 6/7 pounds, and the system pays for it self. This can be good with mixed from laithwaites, and bin ends, doesn’t look like BBR do those.

I actually presently run 2 systems, one for supermarket bargains at about 4 pounds a bottle [bought en bulk when i see good special offers], and one for really good wines at 6 to 7 which come from laithwaites. Just don’t go for a wine plan, they are so hard to cancel… [psychologically]. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Oh, and just to avoid going too far OT, errrr… reject the hate and embrace the love. also, go to your local asian veg shop, they are ace and sell such lovely things. The people that run them are helpful and often happy to share the secret of how to cook the things you’ve never seen before.

I’m also going to object to the term vigilante, gang is quite sufficient. If they were dressing up in tights and a cape then maybe, but I don’t think they are from the article…

This seems to have been over looked as well.

The behaviour was condemned by Muslim leaders.

In a statement, the East London Mosque said: “These actions are utterly unacceptable and clearly designed to stoke tensions and sow discord. We wholly condemn them.”

they’re thugs, they intimidate women, they should be mocked and laughed at for what I’m going to assume are their tiny cocks and massive insecurities.

    #knock knock knock

Can I come in? I brought a bottle!

As for the integration argument, it differs place to place. Leeds, really good integration and while there are communities and areas the lines are very blurred and never 100% either way.

    Bradford the total opposite.

I have no insight into why.

Do we really think there aren’t gang of white thugs too? They’re not muslim gangs, they’re not BNP gangs, or catholic, or protestant, or black or well dressed colour coordinated gay gangs (hey who knows?), they’re just thugs and they come in all flavours.

I did, but you will remember A2.16 is one of the clauses subject to the Trumpmarsh Provisions of 1983, chapter 4, paragraph 5 (p463, at the bottom under the coffee ring).

It is a sound Crescenting, though I grant you when someone wins under the Trumpmarsh Provisions I’m never sure whether to take it as skill, or blind fluke.

For those not able to consult the compendium, or who find its 15.16[recurring]kg, inconvenient to keep about their person, the Trumpmarsh Provisions of 1983 are one of the deregulatory additions from the Thatcherite arm of the MCCC (Mornington Crescent Council for Correctness), it invalidates a large number of regulations implemented up until that point, including (and this is the tricky part), itself.

Re the NHS comment from from the doc above, Our district nurses and care workers were also absolutely bloody outstanding, might not be as good in an urban area, but out in the dales they’re great (not sure why i think that but i do). The whole thing together meant we were never more than 2 hrs from a nurse being with us. The NHS isn’t perfect, it can be better, but we are very lucky to have it. I also get very annoyed with general anti NHS statements.

I personally suspect Mum waited to go until there were nurses present. Just a gut feeling but the timing seemed more than coincidence, and she would have wanted us not to be scared and to have people there who knew what was going on.

For my own experience my Mum’s decline was terrifyingle fast, too fast for Macmillan to be able to do much for us really, we were chasing to keep up with her cancer until she died. Marie Curie nurses were though a godsend. They basically sit with the patient over night. Doesn’t sound much, but it allows you to get some sleep, they tell you a little bit about what’s going on – reassure you if you’re worried about something, they were great with fitting into the house/routine, didn’t mind the dog coming in and out of the room, were great with my dad. One nurse who was with us also gave me the confidence and info to more to help my mum. That they have to be funded by charity is frankly insane.

That said an uncle of mine fought blood cancer for years and I know they found Macmillan to be of great value.

WRT Cromwell street stuff actually happened there, I’m not aware of anything having happened at Saville’s Scotland house. ( not read the story in detail, if stuff did then I can maybe see it)

At cromwell st the girls were plastered into the walls and floor, so the house itself was part of it.

When I had my old subaru, and was driving across the moors and there was no-one else about, in the snow, sometimes for fun I would stamp on the brakes, and lock the wheels, and skid down the road (only very slowly like 10mph) for a hundred yards or so.

My abs worked, when breaking sensibly on icey roads I could hear/feel it kick in now and then.

But when I did that it honestly seemed to believe I had stopped and did nothing. Maybe modern abs is better and more sensitive, but not everyone has awesome new cars with great abs. I call bullshit on this.

ABS is better than being clueless and flailing about

    there is always that.
