If in the lowers, not the internals, then this

Nothing. It’s just to keep the bushes lubed. It doesn’t control damping.

a bit more wouldn’t be the end of the world if you don’t go daft, but not much less, as it needs to cover everything.

Don’t vary the volumes in the internals. Them’s important.

Maybe you could implement some kind of pay per use system, and use the income to support a second better wife just for you?

No, it was supposed to be a joke about madness, then I just baffled you for the sake of it.

Sorry. I’m at work, and its sunny out, and I’m bored.

Oh its that sort of thing. I’m surprised you lived with it for that long to be honest.

    You want one of these

Though if she want’s it, then it’s up to her to build it surely.

I think more likely the Chinese do something. They seem to be getting fed up with them now. They could just roll in with little notice/prep (you can bet they have a plan tucked away somewhere), so probably have less bloodshed as less warning. I think things would have to get a lot more crazy first.

Yes it is, I follow the butterflies, the butterflies follow me, the same backwards as it forwards.

“Dammit I’m mad” is a palindrome.

So’s “The butterflies are following me.”

    What’s your point?

I’d get an engineer in to give her the once over.

Don’t think it even has to be a qualified engineer, I’ve heard plumbers, postmen, even the milkman can perform quite extensive servicing, at regular interval for years.

Fair point, its that point in the thread when it should turn to a backlash.

I tend to assume that sort of row is driver code for “I NEED TO CONVINCE MYSELF THIS WASN’T MY FAULT BY GETTING REALLY ANGRY”.

Signalling across the mini round about, that’s good that is.

She’s probably running too many background tasks and so communication processes can’t get any cpu time. Scan her for infections, common resource consuming malware includes Shoes, Decore, Gossip, Fad Diets and worst one of all – Frumpiness. If its frumpiness I’d just bin her and get a new one.

chickens are a couple of pounds

He he… no, they’re not. Point of Lay are about £15 round here. Depends on the breed.

No, they don’t have to be caged. Can wander about all over the place. Afraid your dog however should be under control. Not having ago, I have a dog and let him off the lead, though don’t let him run off where I can’t see him. Also have chickens

I don’t think their paranoia can be described as justifiable, there’s no chance at all at present that anyone will consider invadijng North Korea. I think Jong-un’s mental state is a fascinating question. He was been raised in a bubble. While his generals and others may be more in touch have they dared to tell his father? Tell him? Its crazy how little we know about NK.

No, at the moment I don’t think there’s a threat at all.

But later, when they have their ICBM technology sorted, and nukes to put on top of them, and they are still run by mentaly unstable indoctinated paranoids raised in a bubble of lies…

I reckon there’s a good chance China will go in before then tbh.

    Is this guy a nutter

    No

We don’t have a word for what he is yet. But he’s not a nutter. There perfectly harmless quite likeable nutters pondering about the place doing no harm who’s good nuttery name’s you are damaging by implying they are similar.

I imagine the reason he’s all cross is the book World War Z (if you haven’t read it, read it, drop what you’re doing right now – go out into the street, find it buy it read it), is considered by some as an alagory for Climate Change, its also about fear, ignorance, our will to beleive what is convenient. It is in short one a finest books about the walking dead, and is therefore about humanity. Something which as I understand it terrifies Jones to his core.

I certainly never lost several orings and so measured and specced and bought 250 to make sure it never happened again and then recouped the money seeling them on ebay until those epicbleed buggers came along with their brand name and undercut me… #grumble grumble grumble# still got hundreds, might have to undercut them in return to get rid of them.

By the way, once I had 250 spare ones in a bag, NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN.

Anyone on this thread found a source for the pivot bits? Mine are absolutely shagged but I don’t need/necessarily want to by new levers just to get the pivot bits.

Unless your fork is one where that is part of the design (newer fox will lift out and slide up the stanchion and you can do a thing with electrical tape that I saw and thought was neat but all mine are RS so i promptly forgot it), just put fork oil/teflon lube around the seal, cycle the fork, wipe with kitchen paper, repeat until kitchen paper comes away clean.

I might remove the seal when doing a lowers service but as above, every time you do you risk reducing its effectiveness/damaging it. I try to keep my oil changes and preventative work frequent enough for that not to be necessary.

K18s are a nice brake, very power full, for best results over their lifespan they do need maintenance. I would not describe as fit and forget a la shimano. Mine are 6 years old and 2 years ago had to be stripped down fully and new seals fitted and have had to replace the piston in the lever once. But they have lead a pretty intensive and gritty life and I don’t resent them for it. Coming up to the biannual full bleed (feeling like they need it) and may be looking at replacing some parts at the same time. They take DOT4 not mineral oil which is a bit of a PITA, not nice to deal with inside, ventilation advised.

My all time favourite loco is the Collett Goods, lovely little 060 tender, bags of character.

only one still in existence and the namesake of Charles Collett who as Chief Engineer of the GWR introduce the concept ofmass usage of parts, the same parts were used in many engines to allow for ease of repair and economy of scale, he retrofitted many of the classes he inherited.

But for all round usage the Pannier tank has a fantastic character, the Do It All HT of the Steam world IMHO.

That’s terrible Realman. I had to read the first bit twice to make sure it said what it said. So very sorry it did. Can’t begin to imagine the mental processes.
