You’ve got Mountain Creek Bike Park (used to be Diablo) maybe 2hrs away in New Jersey. Looks pretty good. Bound to be plenty of stuff upstate NY though

150mm 36 Talas here on my Pitch, spot on. Wind them down for the climbs with Pro Pedal on the back, open everything out for descending.

Only downside might be getting a decent set for the money.

I’m 5’10” also & riding a large Pitch. If it’s mostly descending though I’d try the medium, sometimes find the large a bit barge-like, though it’s very stable.

Same story. I got a replacement Hex a couple of years ago & the pads fell apart really quickly. Fortunately I’d kept the old pads so not a total disaster.

Ballyhoura FTW. Was there last year, great trail centre & not too far off the Dublin bound motorway.

Good facilities too, vending machines, bikewash & showers I think.

That, sir, looks tremendously nice and I am a little jealous.

Didn’t see that but found 12yr Yamazaki in our local Tesco last night (Norn Irn) for £23 down from £45. Result.

No kids. 20th anniversary for wife & me. Three weeks in total so reckon a couple for just touring. If it all goes pearshaped we can bail & head back any time.

Already thinking of a trip to the north of NY in a couple of years if this one goes well.

For the OP, if you can do it, might be a good idea to purchase $ now, sounds like it’s going to get stronger against the £ over the next while. Got $3k changed a couple of weeks back onto a Thomas Cook pre-pay card, so the rate is locked in.

We’re flying into Newark on the recommendation of friends over there. Worked out cheaper flights for us plus looks like it should be easy access into & out of NY. Looking at spending 4 or 5 days round the city then heading to Pennsylvania for Philly, Penn Dutch & Gettysburg, then heading south through Kentucky & Tennessee before swinging back up through Virginia & Maryland.

No idea what to see but I can’t wait 😀

Got one of these, or very similar, from eBay. Good job, held the camera pretty steady & came with a tripod adaptor too.

Castlewellan is partially closed due to tree disease & felling of same. Updated route is available on the mountainbikeni website I think.

Davagh is definitely worth a look if you’re in the vicinity, but bring your climbing legs for the opening section. Some brilliant descents make a 2nd lap well worthwhile though 🙂

Quite a surprising twist at the end though, when the real killer turned out to be deleted

Report to bus company, report to police too. One thing a transport company do not want is attention from traffic branch.

And follow up with transport company. If you make a complaint they should at least be acknowledging it.

Having just gotten a pair of Nanos I can recommend them (or the Exotics). Also have V12s which I like too, but they are a lot thicker meaning pedals get clipped a bit more often.

Disappointed. Thought it was going to be a thread about Cumbria-specific underwear.

Being STW, I’m surprised no-one has started that

Thanks for the replies, I’d been trying the Android Forums guide but it kept failing at the hboot install. The Mark Hatton guide worked a treat though, not sure why as it exactly the same downloads.

Got it rooted & Cyanogen loaded up, looks good. Next thing is to try updating my Desire S

So disappointed this isn’t a thread about rear mechs.

Awesome book, no way the film can come close. Having seen the trailer, it looks as though it takes one viewpoint & stretches it out, maybe touching on a few others in the neighbourhood.

In fact, I fully expect to be disappointed in the film, I fear it will have been all Hollywooded up.

Bargain. I paid about £100 for my smaller Mac box that had fallen out of a van, it was well battered about. Straightened up alright & looks ok with a coat of paint.

    Good find

Been checking prices over last couple of days and wondering about the insurance thing mentioned by molgrips. If I book through rentalcars.com, which says it includes CDW, am I also going to get pressured into taking Excess insurance, or SLI or some other thing that’s going to boost the cost?
Am I better to just get an excess cover policy here costing about £70?

Any thoughts on a Dodge Charger? Can be had through rentalcars.com for £350 for just over a fortnight.

I fancy something in that style but is it going to be a heap to drive? Bearing in mind I currently drive a 13 yr old 306 estate.

Cheers. Pretty much what I thought. Ordered a Lenovo with i3, 8 GB RAM & 500GB HDD for £300 with Win 8. Hopefully I should notice some difference 🙂

Does it make a noticeable difference to chain slap on a hardtail, or is it really only beneficial on a full susser?

Vast. Pretty much my favourite, though Follow Me is a close second.

Break the Cycle is good too, a Seasons style film looking at a number of Irish riders and the scene over here. Some great cinematography in it. Might still be able to get it at CRC or on iTunes.

I have an axle & end caps for qr if you’re interested in it. Easy job to convert, 10 or 15 minutes work at most.

That said, unless you have a good reason to use 9mm qr, daveh’s suggestion is a good one.

We get that occasionally from cubicle 2, accompanied by many varied, non-vocalised, sighs.
