If you can’t get on with Breaking Bad, I’d give Sons of Anarchy a miss.

Treme is definitely worth a watch. Dropped off a bit at the end but first 2 series are excellent.

What about Southland? Binge watched the entire 5 series recently. One of those shows which makes you HAVE to watch the next episode.

Actually though, James Earl Jones reading The Raven is very good

We booked a Mustang convertible (or similar!) for an upcoming trip through Argus car hire. Used Dollar last time & found them to be good. Car in good condition, easy pick up & return, in Newark at least.

Reading through some of the reviews, I would definitely try to avoid Hertz if you’re flying into LAX. Hardly saw anything good said about them.

I’d love to do the buy/drive thing, maybe cross the country & import it back home if it was good enough. Just not this year though

Just to add support to another contender, +1 for the MG TF. For 3k you could get a to spec 160hp VVC. Ideally look at a 2002/3 model for the best specification.

Surprisingly spacious for a 2 seater and capable of taking a bike on a boot mounted rack or with the wheels off, on the passenger side. Room in the boot for a weeks luggage.

High revving engine on the VVC which really works well with being thrashed, but doesn’t need to go fast to be fun. Shines on B roads & can put many an Audi or BMW to shame through the corners.

Budget for a head gasket at some time, but if you can do it yourself it’s not expensive, and if you treat the car right, you may not even need it.

Camping with a few mates, having a drink round the fire, one of them stated singing Metallica’s One. “Doctors in visiting me…”

Watched the first episode & no more. I’d seen enough to know I didn’t need to waste any more time on another mediocre show.

Ah you can’t just blame the taxi drivers. We had a Wright’s Renown written off when a Golf TDI rear ended it at a reasonable speed, hard enough to break the engine mounts and drive the engine into the bellhousing.

It was a driving instructor on her way home for dinner. Bus was dropping kids off from school. Could have been a disaster. Still have the VW badge on my toolbox…

Don’t waste your time. Not as bad as Lost but I definitely found myself looking at my watch during the last ever episode.

    It was nonsense.

Just got it OTA in NI. Doesn’t look enormously different but haven’t really looked round that much yet. Battery Saver came up 5 minutes after installing.

So far, 1 point on the game. It’s hard.

I was seriously considering a 9 for a holiday purchase in the States next year, but if it’s staying with 16/32GB storage then I don’t think I’ll bother especially if the price is significantly higher than the 7 I already have.

Looks like I’ll just buy a decent size USB key & OTG it.

Wrap a loop of thread round it tightly. Leave for, I don’t know, half an hour? This constricts blood flow. Then pull the 2 ends of the thread sharply to cut through the skin. Apply wipe & plaster.

That’s what I did a few years ago. Didn’t die. Yet.

The Northern Ireland peace process would have happened 10 years earlier (at least) if it wasn’t forstubborn, intolerant, entrenched, bigoted idiots like him, and his ilk!

Let’s be fair, Northern Ireland wouldn’t have needed a peace process if it weren’t for stubborn, intolerant, entrenched, bigoted idiots like him, and his ilk!

Cat C is repairs cost more than the value of the car, Cat D is if repairs are greater than financially viable to repair but less than market value of the car. Neither have reference to structural or mechanical viability, just that the insurance company found it cheaper to write it off.

I had a car written off as CAT C, repairs prices at £3k, I repaired it for about £500 & put it back on the road in a couple of weeks.

I was in the same boat 6 months ago, looked at a couple of MR2s but they just didn’t click & I didn’t fancy the MX5 at all. Went to look at an MG TF just because it was local & fell in love.

Surprisingly practical for a 2 seater, circa 40mpg, probably the largest luggage capacity in its class & bang on your budget. Only downside is that you may need to be the sort of person who enjoys tinkering to keep it sweet. Upside is there is a great community to help out with any problems, and the faults most people know about aren’t that big a problem really.

Nonetheless, great value for money. Even the Red Arrows love it

I tried the freeze spray we get in work a couple of weeks ago. Didn’t expect much but it did the job where penetrating oil had failed.

I found the trick was to get it into the rusty threads directly, not to use it as a penetrating fluid.

Part of the premise is that in the alternate world that TWD occupies, there was no George A Romero or entertainment subset based around zombies. If there had been, they would all have been much better equipped to deal with the outbreak as they would have known to equip themselves with access & Benelli M4s.

Therefore nobody uses the word “zombie” as it doesn’t exist in their world.

In that area, Bushmills Distillery. Great tour. Take the coast road from Belfast up north, fantastic scenery.

Titanic is worth a visit too. Crown Bar in the city centre is good for atmosphere & just opposite the most bombed hotel in Europe. Probably safe enough now though.

    Wherever you go, enjoy

If you’re near the Staten Island ferry, walk another 100 yards to the heliport & take a helitour of the city. Did it last year & it was a real highlight. Not cheap, but you can combine with the free ferry for a couple of hours sight-seeing.

Also recommend Top of the Rock, fantastic views. Check out the Lego shop beside the ice rink area while you’re there. Grand Central station is well worth a visit too, just for a walk around. Decent food court downstairs if you’re peckish.

Strawberry Fields in Central Park was good to sit & people watch for half an hour. Bring some change for the buskers.

Enjoy your weekend, you’ll want to go back.

How does the carrot wear those glasses hanging out the front of it’s shirt? Surely carrots would be better with a monocle or contacts.

Agreed, corn is much more suited to wearing glasses.

Halfords Industrial. I have a MAC chest but got one of the above on a voucher last year for home. The Halfords now lives at work in daily use & the MAC it replaced languishes unloved. Incredible bargain at that price.

Plus the badges will pop off no problem if you feel the need

As above, rivnuts are the solution, but failing that I’d choose a coarse thread self-tapper for this application over a rivet.

I should imagine being an elite pilot also requires not inconsiderable hand/eye coordination, something these paintings do not seem to indicate at first glance.

That’s sort of the plan. Still have my old Summer Season frame & intending to restore it to ht duties, or possibly build the Trailstar up for pump track/trail centre duties.

That’s what I’m going for Chris. Realistically, it’ll be mostly used for riding round the local forest lanes which are all pretty smooth anyway.

Reason for looking at the 470mm instead of the 450s is that I already find the front end fairly low so don’t really want to drop it further.

Probably a better use of the money would be to look at investing in a cx or ss but where’s the fun in just having another bike?

Sounds similar then. Think I’ll give it a try.
