    After a bit more research I think I need a flat bar which doesn’t taper for atleast an inch either side of the stem. It seems to be a thing but I don’t know what to search for to find one! If anyone has any specific links I’d appreciate it!

    Yeah, I’ve tried to do that and it doesn’t work. Hence I was thinking I could go with a 25.4mm stem and flat bar after which the clip on tri bars would work.

    Yes, I hope I’ve understood correctly

    2017 spring kit = coil replacement for air spring
    Cartouche = replacement damper
    Cartouche all in one = combined coil spring and damper

    All I wanted was the coil spring Tom has been so pleased with, the damping cartridges are an unknown to me so I’d probably look somewhere more local for any upgrades/adjustment

    Very helpful. So the spring kit is basically just a coil on the air side and the charger damper in a lyrik/pike remains on the other side. I guess the competitor to the spring upgrade is a luftkappe, but a spring seems like an inviting option.

    Which kit have people ordered from crc? My French isn’t particularly great and I’m wondering which option I should be choosing for a 170mm Lyrik. Is this the coil kit everybody is talking about: http://www.crconception.com/web_images/2016_all_in_one.jpg

    There is also a file titled 2017 spring kit which is €135. Not sure what the difference is?

    Thanks

    press fit isn’t the problem per se. It’s bad implementations and shoddy tolerances.

    I got a bb infinite one and it’s perfect. Well worth importing from the states. No creaks!

    Can anyone comment on how these insurers view second hand bikes. I have several second hand bikes, all of which would have been £5k-8k when new but I paid substantially less second hand. I don’t have receipts for all of them (but do for some). Would these insurers pay out if one of the non receipt bikes got stolen? I ask because I fear that I’m going to be paying to insure a bike that they won’t cover if the worst does happen.

    Thanks

    reggie; I still have the spare bushings. Drop me an email, it’s my username at gmail.com

    The only reason I’m thinking of changing to a slash is because I’ll be in the states and could get one for a semi reasonable price, plus I think I started to take the piss a little for what a 150mm travel bike should be doing. The other thing is that I only have 1 bike so I need an all rounder (rather than just get a trek session for example!).

    Remedy coil conversion is another league… A completely new bike in my opinion.

    I’ve got a remedy and have considered the slash as a frame upgrade. I put a coil on my remedy and it turned it into a different bike! I really didn’t like the DCRV air shock but with the coil I kept up or overtook almost everyone I came across in the alps. Big jumps and drops were no problem (big is relative, but I mean 25ft jumps and 15ft+ drops) I am almost certain you could follow the same instructions that I posted on my blog to do a coil conversion to the slash. In fact, that is exactly what I plan on doing IF I get a slash frame for a decent price.
