There really isn’t much to run-of-the-mill washing machines.

I just replaced the brushes on the motor on our “dead” machine over lunchtime today. It took the missus more time to make me a pot of coffee afterwards.

Door locks, seals, belts, motors…is all very user-serviceable. Have a go – you’ve nothing to lose because if you don’t you’re looking at a silly call out charge and £50/hr for labour or another £300 machine anyway…

Roclites every time. A very flexible use shoe. I’ve had multiple pairs over the years. They wear well too.
Just make sure you try them on – the sizing can be all over the place.

Drying out the tent is the biggest bane of my summer life…aside from cutting the bloody grass…

People are **** mad. £60k for a tiny van with the right badge on the front, or £40k for that thing Steve posted?!?!

You do realise that you sound like a lot of leisure cyclists outside the STW community?

“How much for that bike?!?!?! You’re mad….” :-)

Going on holiday and sleeping in a van is madness; four of you sleeping in the same van is even crazier. But if you have to do it, at least get something fit for purpose.

5 of us spent a week with a converted Hyundai i800 last summer, up and around the north coast of Scotland. Fit for purpose? Depends on what you consider fit. If you want rolling hotel room, then, sure buy a rolling hotel. If you want something that make your trips distinctly different from home life…well there are plenty of options.

For us, the Beach replaces our S-Max which spends much of its summer racked up with bikes, and roof box, and stuffed with a camp-gear.

The 3-seat bench option on the Beach still makes a bed. That’s what’s in my order (just placed last week)… :-)

    @coogan

I was in Glasgow when I bought it (from Edinburgh) but you I don’t think you going by @coogan back then. I do remember you were “trading-up” to a Turner 5 Spot at the time though.

It’s seen a lot of miles, and parts, since then. In late 2014, I stripped it back to frame ‘n’ fork ‘n’ wheels and replaced just about everything else (including pivot bearing). Forks could probably do with a service to get them back to being a bit more lively but otherwise it rides like it was brand new.

It’s genuinely now the sort of bike you can’t sell – not because it’s worthless (“It’s twenty-what?”) but because that anodised orange frame carries so many memories of trails around the world, campfire stories and silly falls.

Mine just keeps on going. Still a better bike than I’m a rider.
Seen its fair share of other countries too but here it is being very local

There lots of info out there and it really depends on what your “off-season” objectives are. I use a Strong Lifts 5×5 approach and add-in additional exercises for arms and core. Worked really well last year and set me up well for getting back on the bike/etc come January.

The thing I noticed though is that you need to really rigorous about it, otherwise it doesn’t really do much for you. Make sure you’re going on-schedule and following the weight increases each session.

What you need is one of these seats:
    Little One Comes Too[/url]

Had one for about 3 years and now using it with my second kid – who loves it just as much as the first. A doddle to fit and move between bikes, works with both hard tails and FS too.

I emailed them about the slipping strips and got sent a nifty tip. Basically you use use the rubber end of the strap as a wedge in the ladderlock/buckle!
