Again, just my opinion, there aint no such drug that makes anyone violent – or any other behavioral trait, it was in them to start with Au Naturel..

If you read the reports on Gat ( the plant with the natural active ingredients that are chemically synthesised to form Mephodrone- hence Khat, Mcat, meow etc) its actually quite safe.

Ingesting pie n chips and lashing of veg is slowly killing all of us, over do it and disease and death are gonna be put in to fast forward, same applies to anything, not just pharmaceuticles

Take this report as you will, there are lies, damn lies and statistics as they say…

This graph is harm to user alongside harm to society.. read harm to society being the gang violence and such associated with production and dealing, a case in itself for legalisation and taxation id say.

Mcat, miow miow, bubble or plant food is down here under its actual name of Mephedrone…

Miaow was a victim of the press too, there are studies shown it was over all, the safest drug per se.
The reports of deaths crazyness and ripping off ones own testicles were started as an internet joke, then the press got hold of it.
Accidental deaths with Mcat? about i recall, ill go and see if i can find the stats.
The worst offenders for deaths and harm done, and societal damage was- surprise surprise, the legal ‘uns -alcohol, swiftly followed by tobacco

Again, newspaper scaremongering… The amount you need to do before your nose rots and you get heart problems are unaffordable for mere mortals!
And again, ill reiterate its NOT cocaine, its some kind of mild stimulant, my best guess is ephedrine due to the short half life, mixed with a dental anastheatic to mimic the numbness.

I just came back from a full medical check up last week, 41 yo, clean bill of health. good cholesterol levels, no sign of diabetes, very slightly raised blood pressure but it was a stressful month at work, heart like an ox.

I’ll recap its been ages since i was on here, i started doing recreational whizz and LSD (ecstacy was unaffordable at the time regardless of all the horsesh*t said in the gutter press) around 1990 ish, till about 98 when i had kids. It was just on nights out. When E dropped in price yeah i also dabbled. I stopped all drugs once i had kids.
During this “Druggie” time, i also went out clean when it was my turn to drive. I DID NOT need or in any way have dependence on drugs, including booze. They just enhanced my night, when a partook.

I took up the music scene again in 2007ish and again do recreationals, Charlie, “Plant Food”, E.
Not every weekend because i’m an old fart now, but most weekends.

Despite this self abuse i came out with a clean bill of health, so go figure

To be clear, and this is just my opinion, mind, some people will get addicted.
To ANYTHING. Food. Lack of food, puking after lots of food, booze, fags, cocaine, H. internet porn. Any of them will do.
Because it will never be “their fault” they need something to blame it all on.
They are the ones who need a psychological crutch to mask personality flaws.
All addicts have one thing in common. In thier head THEY are always the victim.

    Oh yeah.. Serato is free…
    Of a fashion!
You buy the hardware for Serato, either an SSL box that connects the decks to your laptop, one of the Rane mixers that has ssl built in, or if you are going controller and Serato Itch, you buy a Serato supported modellike the Vestax VCI 300, Novation Twitch, Allen & Heath X1, numark NS6 or 7 and a few others.
Once you buy supported hardware, the download and all subsequent updates are freemans.

Serato also have a new beginner software released, Serato DJ Intro, for controllerists, which has support for the Numark Mixtrack or Mixtrack whicich is without doubt the best bang per buck entry level controller, which smashes Traktor, Virtual DJ, Mix and now Serato

Just decided to pop by after Ali (Xyph) messaged me on Facebook-
Nuthin’ wrong with Virtual DJ once you get the full version, It is my “Go To” software of choice for practice sesh in the house. Ill even play it out.
The freebie of VDJ has no headphone out or MIDI controller abilities which is really limiting. No headphone means no cueing or manual beatmatching ability. Not Good. BUUUUT
This can be overcome with prior prep and the mighty synch button.
You can put cue points on the tracks in your set for mix in/ mix out/ vocals/ breakdowns etc and use these instead of the cans.

Traktor is brilliant for modern house, from digital original sources.
If the music is from live drummers, hardware Roland drum machines, or ripped from Vinyl (wow & flutter problems ) you have almost had it as far as beatgridding is concerned but there are get arounds.
Find a lead in section were the beats are consistent, beat grid this section, then find a mix out section and do a second beat grid for the master clock to synch to and mix out on, these can be saved as cue points.
All a royal pain the arse for anyone who’s used TT’s or CDJ where you do all this by instinct, which is why i suggested to Ali Virtual DJ or Serato.
Serato is about as pure as it gets, decks, phones, pitch faders off you go. it requires skill and hours of practice to learn to beat match for a beginner. Very frustrating and requires dedication. So frustrating, just look on the ‘Bay for used DJ kit from wanna be Sasha dreamers.

Virtual DJ will do all the beat matching and even phase matching for you, and this can give you the confidence to turn the synch off and learn to do it yourself, knowing a hit of a key can get it all back and get you out the pooh if you trainwreck.

And do not believe the hype that any software DJ kit can “Hit a button and it does all the mixing for you” rubbish.
Nearest i came across is Ableton and that took a hard long month of learning how to use, then every single track in every set needed “Warping” (Abletons version of beatgridding where it quantises in to a 4/4 beat by stretching and and squashing the beats to fit a perfect metronome for any given BPM without affecting the musical key- unless you actually want to alter the key).
Perfect Sasha or Digweed-esque transitions every single time but the work put in before hand is tedious, and mixing in Ableton for me is dull as ditchwater.

Any how, Ali (Xyphon) is a member of my FB group, if you want some inspiration come and join us, most of us are Oldskool DJ’s from the old Revenge days around Blackburn 20 year ago, but myself and a few others do play more modern house sets too…
Be warned though, the language and humour may be a bit ripe from time to time
