Ive just bought a Large version of my current frame, 2016 bizango (yeah yeah, halfords crap- carry on!) as im getting old fat and past it, and want to see if a trade off for efficency over chuckability will suit me, so its getting built from all the bits i’ve upgraded on my medium frame.

Mine get rock strikes on almost every ride, the metal replaceable pins are rock solid, never moved, but the 2 plastic molded in plastic pins on the outer edge are both long gone… And they are still the same color as when I bought them in summer last year despite this abuse!
Bearings feel the same as when new too.

I’d not ridden for 3 years after this latest munchkin came along, to the point I’d sold everything apart from the camel packs. £20 for the first hour weather it took that long or not, another £20 if it creeps in to a second hour and so forth, this is made clear before work commences round here, then parts which does not seem unreasonable at £7

The age of the boiler has nowt to do with the reliability in my experience.
My Ma’s estate had baxi back boilers installed in 1976, those that were right to buy’d generally still have these systems fitted and are still working reliably aside from the separate heating circulation pumps which seem to last about 7 or 8 years before needing replaced. The back boilers seem to get by on the yearly gas safe checks and the odd igniter circuitry once every blue moon or if the pilot has been extinguished for 8 months of the year.
On the other hand, those with modern condensing boilers seem the be on the fritz at least once a year
