The sheer audacity to then stand there and tell us what we should be doing when his own advisors don’t. I think I will just carry on as I want and if caught just say “PLease refere to Dom Cum” He can do it so can I!

Probaably not but you know what I mean

My MP Eleanor Laing is very quiet on the subject, but I don’t expect anything from her. Have emailed her for a response. I’ll post up what ever I get.

I believe Hunt wheels use their hubs and they seem to get good write ups.

In the STW tradition of recommending what you have. I had the same dilemma as you with the same budget. In the end I narrowed it down to 2. Jeffsy 29 Comp and the Occam. I bought the Orbea Occam 2020. Mostly as I got a 15% discount on the H20 Shimano version. I liked the Jeffsy but the Shimano kit and discount swung it. Not a great fan of SRAM drivetrains. Plus the discount gave me enough money left over to get a set of Hunt Trail Wides which I can use on my other bike as well.

Love it. The suspension has taken a bit of tweaking and it’s still not completely setup but that’s more due to the lack of riding. It feels very planted and stable. The only thing I really need to sort is the small patter you get from the dry sort of broken up ground we have at the moment. I’m expecting the wheels tomorrow and I’ll let you know how I get on with them?

I saw a video of rip off MTB products. Can’t remember where but he was comparing pedals. I think the legit product was RaceFace the Ripoff was Fooker!

I have an Orbea Occam with the SLX 12 sppeed cassette. Never been noisy or difficult to change up or down. Only thing was when the bike arrived it wouldn’t go into the easiest gear but that was just the cable was a little slack. Once I adjusted that it has been flawless.

It is all Shimano though. I would change the chain first as that may be the easiest and cheapest.

Ordered a Chainring a couple of weeks ago. Took a bit longer than normal to get here but nothing out of the ordinary at the moment. No real comms from them though. Just turned up. No notice of despatch.

So far it’s cost the UK £20bn, if it runs until the end of the year it’ll cost £80bn. That’s a lot of money, but it’s nothing like the cost of the Credit Crunch bailout.

Still less than the vanity project that is HS2. Although that is over a few years

I put my old Giant 26 FS on Ebay with a start price of £300. Was hoping to get about £275. Got £350 offer within about half an hour. Sold. May have got more but tht will buy me anew set of Hunt Wheels so happy with that.

Sorry. Couldn’t see the hole on the others and the from the angle it looked like the splines on yours were a bit deeper

Edit. Actually watching the second video a bit longer there is a hole.

As above. I got the Occam. Really happy with it and got a 15% discount which made the choice a lot easier. I looked at most of the suggestions above but my choice came down to Jeffsy or Occam. Occam got it with a slightly better spec. SLX over the SRAM SX kit. I prefer the way you can select gears with the Shimano stuff. Also the matt black look is really nice.

Really happy with it but not really ridden a lot due to the lockdown. The bike shop has reduced the discount to 10% now but thats still £250 off. PM me if you want the shop. They do Wyhte and Specialised as well.

This is the response to someone who questioned Trump cutting WHO funding on Facebook. (I know it’s Facebook but gives a good indication of how his supporters think.)

This is the start, china need to pay for this world economic melt down!!! Trump is only man with balls to do it, the rest are in chinese pocket!!!ebook.

WHO and the UN are a waste of money and effort. What have either really accomplished? World still have wars, hunger and disease. Another is the EU.

WHO protected China until 1,000,000 residents could fly out of the country

The way WHO dealt with the China issue was detrimental to world health. They are really just a bunch of delegates who meet to discuss stats and data and publish the results. They DO nothing.

I think the SLX and XT have a slight bend. I remember reading a review somewhere that mentioned it.

I decided to tell him coc. He came back with I don’t understand so I just said I wasn’t comfortable with PayPal being able to claw back the money. Not heard from him yet. :-)

I would prefer the COC option but some people use credit card for this sort of thing. So I emailed him with a suggestion of Friends and Family which he agreed to. Can he use charge back via the CC to claw it back in this case or is F&F safer?

I thought I would provide some feedback n this. Thank you all for your suggestions. After all that I went for a Orbea Occam H20 witht the SLX build. Got a really good price as well. Bike arrived yesterday and I’m pretty happy with it.

Really impressed with Orbea’s attention to detail and the finnish on the alloy frame is impressive. It actually looks like a carbon frame with no sign of welds anywhere. CAn’t wait to ride it but will be putting that off till closer to the end of the month when we go to BPW.

Once again thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I think I might have to save a bit more or sell a kidney. :-)

Luckily it’s still pretty grim out there so no rush to get it just yet.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I also quite like the look of Orbea Occam H30. Any thoughts on these?

Nice but budget is around the 2K mark

Yes, Not for Epping so much but more for away days.

I like some of the Vitus bikes but a couple of the guys I know have or have had them and the quality of some of the frames has left a little to be desired. They are great value for money though.

Must admit that Orange is very tempting. Just wish they had a large in Orange.

You guys are not making this any easier. Was out today. Some places you really needed a canoe rather than a bike.

@Kryton. I should have said. I have a hardtail I use mostly for Epping. This bike is for Epping in summer but also for away days. I have ridden the hardtail at BPW and a few other centres and while it is doable it’s not as enjoyable as it could be.

I have had an Orange but can’t afford a brand new one. 2K is about the budget.

The Jeffsy has slightly lower spec. SX Eagle against NX and a Yaris RC fork versus a Fox Rhythm 34.

I’m not sure I’m the sort of rider who would be able to really tell the difference between suspension components

I have all I need now. As I said the Mrs spoke with Age UK.

That post was in replay to Zanelad.

    Now jog on.

Mate, You asked for advice. People are trying to help and you respond like that. While i think you may b stressed there is no need for that sort of response

For some people “work isn’t just something you do” Some people genuinely enjoy working. Why should that stop just because you have a kid?

Some people are fortunate enough to be able to work around family, some aren’t.
