uggski – it’s a ‘catch all’ term used to describe votes for lower level positions so state or local positions generally.

    Thanks. Makes sense!

My tip would be to get as big as you can afford. I got ours as an test to see what it’s like and wish I had got a bigger one.

I got caught out by a phishing test at work. We’d had an internal email warning us to expect a login request from a third party for a new system. We then got a link emailed, I didn’t really read it properly as I was talking with someone and so clicked through, onto a phishing landing page.

We had the Phishing test at work. Problem is I quite often open them just to see what URL comes up as the scam site never has the correct URL or has something close to it but generally has some small add-on to make it look close.

Anyway I opened the test email to check the sender email and then got the email saying I could have compromise us. I agree though, It’s entrapment.

Going to go against the grain here and say I enjoyed it. We only went to Disney Paris. My self and wife. Loved it. Went in October rode every ride about 10 times as there were no queues. Were there for 4 days. Took one day and caught the train to Paris for the day.

But I draw the line at a Disney cruise, maybe a cruise to see the Northern Lights as I have heard that’s pretty amazing if you get to see them.

Also a good idea to take out gap insurance in case you have an accident and the car is written off as you may not get the full value paid out. Gap insurance will pay the difference.

We did what @Onzadog did with Golden paste for our Staffie. It made a huge difference. Sadly passed to the big field in the sky from old age. :-(

loads of info online about it.

Also make sure the caliper is aligned correctly. If it’s just sort of catching an edge on the pad it may be causing vibration which you can hear as the squeal.

I have a theory that in the cold pads and rotor don’t get hot enough and glaze which also causes that squeal. I’m  probably wrong but I notice on my winter bike which is ridden in really muddy conditions all the time, and never really gets up to any speed it always has a squeal. A brake pad change and rotor clean solves it for a while but it normally comes back.

Summer bike which has long downhills with much fear led braking by me never squeals

Don’t write it off completely. There are genuine sellers, you just have to be careful. I understand that some people just don’t want to deal with them but generally if you look at the sellers profile and there is a huge list of available vehicles, that is most likely a scam.

I’ve sold 2 cars on Marketplace no problems.

The new and old V5 doc scam could happen on any site. Even Autotrader.

I must admit that I have bought a few lights of Aliexpress on the recommendations of people on here and have been happy with the quality of goods. As Big-Bud says, nearly everything we buy now is made in China. I guess the main thing is to realise that some retailers may not have the same QC standards as some of the big manufactures.

My dad works and lives in China and consults for a few of the big manufactures. Tesla is one. He says there is a huge issue with people stealing stuff and selling on. We are not talking small amounts either and some are so regular/large that they suspect that the sub contractors themselves are behind it.

Copying things is another issue. When I was there I spotted a dealership selling what I thought were Land Rover Evoques but turns out they were almost an exact copy but with a Chinese name.

I also saw lots of really small practical EV’s at reasonable prices. I think they are way ahead on that sort of thing. Small eMotorbikes/mopeds were also very popular,

Yes, I bought a 57 reg Mondeo for £800 with 90K miles . It had a years MOT. Some minor issues I’m working through but nothing serious.

£800 is less than the 1 years depreciation on MrsUggski’s Juke that we have.

Full disclosure, I do know the PO so knew it was in ok condition. May need a new cambelt but that would still make it a £1200 car!

From the technical part of the description

ROCKRIDER COMFORT GEOMETRY FRAME in 6061 aluminium with hydroformed tubes
    12×148 mm Boost
    Seat tube diameter: 31.6 mm
    Tapered head tube
    1 bottle cage mounting point

Only says tapered headtube. Probably should have a tapered steerer but looks like they have bodged it

I’ve ridden there, like a lot of others I would imagine. Not that line or any of the North Shore. That drop doesn’t look that high but believe me it is truely daunting just standing next to it. As is a lot of  the other stuff there.

Some thing came up and I needed a days leave. Not the days between Christmas and New Year. My leave request was declined for a totally unreasonable reason. We have a team of 12, 2 are on leave and they state we need the cover over the period, bearing in mind this is during school holidays.  Minimum staffing level is 7.
I have decided to challenge this just for the sake of it and because we have a management team that couldn’t find their arses with both hands. They have a leave ban from the 18th December to 12 January. Leave had to be in by October. WTF. What if something unforeseen comes up as it did for me?

I may not be working here for much longer :-)

Can’t throw a sickie now as I have made too much of a fuss about it.

well yes…. but people aren’t going to pay £2000 for a motorbike valet 😀

Some people would. Depends on the bike and customer. I can do cars pretty well but I wouldn’t even try a motorbike so I take my hat off to you there. I did see some pictures of your work from the KTM forum. I think it was that forum. And the results were amazing.

weeksyFull MemberI do it with motorbikes and have charged £300+ for cleaning and polishing motorbikes for people, they’ve always been stunned at the level of finish. However i’d say to do a motorbike well is 20+ hours of work. Wheels, forks, bodywork etc all off the bike to do the engine…bodywork is an hour per panel at a minimum to machine polish.

Sorry @weeksy but a proper detail is way more than an hour a panel. And the Pro’s charge a lot.

Watch this guys videos. Generally he works on a full detail for a week. And that’s full time. He’s booked months in advance so people obviously value the service from him.

    Common problem

Make sure you backup the registry first though, but if you are not comfortable doing this may be best to get your support team to do it :-)

There is a registry fix for this issue.

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\Preferences

    Note

    The x.0 placeholder represents your version of Office (16.0 = Office 2016, Office 2019, or Office LTSC 2021, 15.0 = Office 2013, 14.0 = Office 2010).
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type DelegateSentItemsStyle, and then press Enter.
Right-click DelegateSentItemsStyle, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    Exit Registry Editor.

Pretty sure the 1.5 Ford Connect I had as a work van had the wet belt. I think most Ford Diesels from about 2008 are wet belt.

Thanks guys. worked out ok. Plenty of parkig in the overflow. Tried to see where you were to say hello @Weeksy but no luck.

Got there about 10:30. So cold :-( but once out it wasn’t so bad. Spent the day getting in the way of the youngsers on the trails from the top of the push up road.  And getting jealous of the eBikers making easy work of it. Had to smile about the guy towing his kids up the road. :-)

I can see now where an eBike makes sense especially if your local trails are climbs like that. Where I ride it’s mostly flat flowing single track in the summer and a mudfest in the winter. No real need for one, but if I lived somewhere like that it would be top of the list.

All in a good days riding even if it was a bit busier than I’m used to.

No unorthodox traditions here. I do miss going to the beach on Xmas day though.

Not sure why people are trying to convince TJ to enjoy Xmas their way.  I too hate the way Xmas has become commercialised but do enjoy the family get togethers.

Let TJ do Xmas his way and you do it yours.  Leave us bah humbugs alone :-)
