Does it only stick when not installed on the bike? Mine would stick down when installed in the seatpost. I found I had over tightened the clamp slightly. Took a bit of experimentation to get it right.

I’m watching Top Boy as well, really enjoying it and it strikes a cord with me. When I first moved over here I worked for a major computer company doing warranty work and that area was my patch. I hated going in those tower blocks. To be fair to the residents I never had a problem but the walk in was always a bit of a worry.

I understand what Silverneedle says but for some people that’s their reality. It is a London based Wire though.

I have an Expert 2.0. Easily gets two enduro bikes in and loads of camping gear. Has sliding doors on both sides which makes things a lot easier. Most bikes we got in was about 12. Took all the bikes on a group get away to Peebles. Was bit crowded but with the front wheels off and a bit of careful loading, it’s achievable.

Ca you explain a bit more. If everything else is in order. MOT and insurance. Why can’t you tax it?

Easiest way is probably to do it online.

this weekend i yelled at someone for reversing out of a parking space with out looking. Luckily I had seen that they had not seen me as they did not even look my way. They then proceeded to tell me i should be stopping for them as I could see they were reversing.

Bear in mind this is onto a main road which is dual carriage way. I would have moved to the right lane but there was faster moving traffic in that lane. They then dually reversed into that lane as well forcing a 7.5 ton lorry to a standstill. He was not as polite as me in explaining their error to them.

Sorry to hear about your mutt mate. Make the most of the time you have with them. It always seems unfair how short a time we have with them.

I’ll be honest i never knew what the term Gammon meant. So I looked it up today.

Gammon is a pejorative term used in British political culture since around 2012, which received press coverage in 2018. In 2018 it became particularly known as a term to describe white people, especially those on the political right or who supported Brexit, who appear pink-faced when emotional.

    Love it

I had a crazy mortgage and a lot of loans, credit cards etc. I was earning good money but was always without. I had a good job in construction but suffered badly from mental health problems, partly caused by work.

I jacked it in, sold my house in the uk, bought an old sweet house in Austria with an amazing garden. Managed to get enough from sale of uk house to buy my current house outright. I have a 7 year old 69 ps Fabia that I got for little money.

I’m now a government approved tour guide in Austria mainly doing bike or alcohol based tours – vineyards, micro breweries  along the river Danube.

I don’t make much money but then again, I don’t need much. My monthly outgoings are approx 350 euro all in (food, leccy etc). I’ve never been happier

    Your richer than most. :-)

To me, this seems to come down to “I want money” rather than “I want to maintain the children”… I dunno…

More like I want to punish you. My ex was like that. It wasn’t the money for her. It was getting back at me. And I wasn’t the one who had the affair. :-(

When I got divorced the other half got half of a small business I had. I had to sell it to pay her out. pretty sure it would work the same way for you. IANAL. It was a long protracted and bitter divorce. Try to avoid it because only the lawyers benefit.

Bikebouy your £2k mortgage payment is more than my take home pay and I live in the SE. So yes I consider you  pretty well off.How you spend your income is up to you but however you look at it you could choose to have lower outgoings. I admit that in the SE mortgage payments can be ridiculous but the other outgoings are pure choice.

I have a mate who is ridiculously wealthy on paper but has very little disposable income. Asset rich money poor. He has a long term plan to retire early but in my opinion he is missing out on life. No good having loads of money and too old and infirm to enjoy. It’s about getting a good balance.

I missed that one. Holidays and “good” food are both luxuries, of course you can make decent food with considerably less outlay if you plan properly and buy sensibly. It also depends where in the country you are, around here (Largs) you could get an upper 3 bed quarter villa (cottage flat?) for 80k.Of course all that is dependent on being approved for a mortgage but to be honest if you can afford to rent you should generally be able to afford a mortgage.

The problem is that £80k flat in outer London will cost £350k. So a couple earning a good combined wage of £70k will still struggle to afford it

I have the same phone and the only problem I have had with trava is when I forget to press start. :-) The first time I ran it it came up with a warning about excessive battery use with the option to ignore. Since then I have not had an issue.I think you can change the setting in Apps. Go to settings. App launch then turn off Strava

You can disable this by going online and changing it in the settings

My understanding of that is you cannot enter the byway if you are going to stop for camping sleeping or cooking. Enduro bikes and bikes should be ok.

    prohibition of entry to all
vehicles (which includes caravan, caravanette or like vehicles, horse box, trailer, carriage or horse
and carriage) for any purpose including sleeping, camping and cooking on Byway 11 Amesbury,
Byway 12 Amesbury (south), Byway 12 Amesbury (north) at their junctions with the A303.

But the any purpose is a bit worrying

I had a similar thing, it was my fault. Reversed out of driveway just as neighbour parked. I didn’t see them parking so swung out and hit their car. they didn’t want to go through insurance so i agreed for them to get a quote and get back to me. I really thought there was not a lot of damage to the area I hit but there was a bit further over on the door which I didn’t do as I know it was there before. Car was a 10 year old Micra.

Quote came back at £1400. I said I can’t afford that and went through insurance. My excess was £100 so made sense to me. Neighbour has not spoken to me since. Suits me really :-)

General comment on state of UK mtb today – does no one actually ride their bike uphill any more?

I think the heat was a factor in it as well. I battled with it

I have a 15 reg one for work. No problems with it so far. Only done 29K in it though. Coming up to 4 years and no signs of rust yet. Nice to drive, quiet and comfortable. Nicest van I have had for work.

The Bonneyville qualifier used to be rollable but it seems to have been dug out massively at some point before July last year.

When I was last there I think someone I was with thought that and rolled it only to go ove the bars and do some serious damage to his neck and back.

Were his eyes moving from side to side fairly rapidly. Battle to get up. Looks as if he is having a fit? Look up drunk dog syndrome. Our Staffie had this and the vet said it is fairly common in older dogs. Vet said it is more distressing for the owners than the dog. Ours developed this but seemed to recover well after each incident. He was about 11 when he developed it and lived for another 2 years. Died of acute renal failure.

We have a place in Villamartin that was left to us by my wifes Mom. I like the area as it’s fairly quiet unless you go down to the square. It is very quiet out of season. Lots of nice restaurants. There is a huge expat population but not only Brits. Plenty of other nationalities as well. We normally fly into Murcia Airport and it’s about a 20 minute drive to where the house is. Bear in mind that Murcia airport is not really Murcia. Drive is along a well maintained motorway. L

.There are loads of really nice places to live around Villamartin. I would recommend you take some time and go and have a good look round. A lot of the of the Urbanisations are pretty deserted out of season. It is also very very dry. Like a desert.

Not much mountain biking there but the mountains are not to far a drive. Road riding is great and there are pretty good local clubs. Car drivers seem to show a lot more respect to riders than here.

PM me if you want to know more as I know the  area fairly well but have not really ridden there
