Thanks to OP and everyone who’s replied, good to know the feelings are pretty common eh.

    “Well that’s much better. 😂”

I’m pretty selective about my heroes 😀

My admiration is based on what he did for bitcoin, including a promise to chop his dick off on live TV if it didn’t hit a million dollars.

No idea about his other activities being quoted here.

Worth noting there was a slow drift in this euro trade to eurozone anyway as some wanted control back.

Unless anyone knows better than I do, there’s no sign of the big business like structured trading, advisory, mergers etc that the city excels at being moved out?? And this is the stuff that really pays.

Happy to be corrected if there’s news on this business moving out of the city.

    That 6b isn’t -6bn from UK economy!!!

It’s the loss of the city’s cut on the tiny margins of trading 6bn shares. Equity trading isn’t what it used to be before electronic trading, and reduction of middlemen.

This is real but it was expected and although the loss is non-trivial its not huge. (The loss is also the small number of equity traders and their salaries, plus clearing house operations)

And remember that the banks that remain big in equities are principally the big American banks and any profits go to the mothership.

But big money in the city isn’t this, it’s the more sophisticated stuff that it’s so good at and takes decades/centuries to establish.

I like this from Warren Buffet…

“If you buy something like a farm, an apartment house, or an interest in a business,” Buffet once said. “You can do that on a private basis. And it’s a perfectly satisfactory investment. You look at the investment itself to deliver the return to you. Now, if you buy something like bitcoin or some cryptocurrency, you don’t really have anything that has produced anything. You’re just hoping the next guy pays more.”

Sums it up for me, but appreciate there’s others who see it differently, here’s Michael Saylor on bitcoin, it’s gibberish to me, but hey ho he’s doubled his millions in months!

“#Bitcoin is Digital Gold – Harder, Smarter, Stronger, & Faster, Cyber Hornet Theory, Active & Organic Defenses, Fragility of Chinese Walls & Gatekeepers, Darwinian Response & Network Evolution, Smart Money, Monetary Force & Acceleration, Fast BTC Energy.”

    It’s gone BONKERS!
Who knows when it will stop?

If you ever follow Crypto Twitter (like the Twitter accounts of the Winklevoss Twins or Michael Saylor), it is very disturbing. They hype it like it’s guaranteed to hit 500k in the future.
I’d be concerned that people are putting money in that they can’t afford to lose, putting it in bitcoin instead of a pension, even borrowing to buy bitcoin based on these recommendations.
If a banker came out and said the kind of moronic garbage that these guys do about BTC, they’d be in prison!

That said, it is going bonkers up at the moment, and with the miniscule amount I have – I’m HODLing for now!

Reading this by Steve Abraham made me think more about what I need versus what marketing people want me to buy!

All respect to @speedster above with a 6 month old getting up at 3am to do his turbo sessions.

It was a good decision to allow turbos this year. I was getting really run down at one point, and by doing long sessions at a very low intensity in the warm, it helped me finish. I think if I’d gone outside and tried to do more, I’d have got ill.

So good call to allow turbos by the organisers.

    Great work all!
Agree with comment that it’s contrived but it does put you on a bike at a time when you’d usually be on the sofa 🙂

Got it done today, using marginal gains of a Thermos with tea and honey, and freezer bags over the socks.
Well done to all the folks on here who had a go at it. See you next year?

Nice stories to read here. My status:
    150k done on mountain bike
    150k done on road bike
100k done on turbo today, just to recharge cos was really feeling tired.

    Got 100k to do tomorrow.

Good luck all, and super respect to those who haven’t reached for the turbo, wherever you are.

FT, weekend edition is my favourite.
It keeps me going all week.
In depth articles, well written, no idiot journalism.
The weekend Kindle edition is only 1.50, but 4 pounds for the real thing is a good deal.
I don’t find it right wing, it’s mainly unopiniated, often even socialist.
They seem to have a thing against Brexit,a bit like this place 😉

If I could crank one of those out I’d be very happy. Mine are coming out the wrong side of charred at the moment.

Not sure how to get pics in but really happy with today’s results. Amazing to have pizza that tastes as good as in a restaurant at home!!
Such a fun process to make it as well.
Just got to use it a few times now to justify the cost!

    better results today, cheers!
Came out better today, thanks guys.

One thing, we’re seeing a small thin burnt line all the way under the crust on the base.
    Any tips on removing that?

And any tips on avoiding surface charring?

Great advice. I’ll get rice flour/semolina and a wooden peel. Trying again later today without those, so will do the keep moving it technique.
The second problem was my dough balls really didn’t want to stretch into a disc at all.
Thinking that’s lack of kneading for initial mix?

    ugarizza

Tried mine yesterday, main issue was they didn’t slide off the peel.
    What’s the answer to this?
    More flour on the peel?

Has anyone seen “into the night”?
Pretty enjoyabke and fast paced if you like that sort of thing.
Ok it’s not going to trouble the Oscars but it’s worth a go.

It has some funny lines in it too!

    Sounds like a plan then!
I like the idea of staying on the same course and only changing things very slightly until we find the right competitive balance.
I guess the composition of the hares and hounds will change each week but nothing to be done about that.

On the objective, what exactly do the hounds have to do to “win”?

Is it just one hound beats one hare?

Great place for road rides. You can ride two or three countries in a day. I used to ride towards Remich then go along the river. Cars respect riders too.
I dream of going back just to ride one day!
