I had a 2008 FN2 Type R (hence the user name) for 3 years and it really was a solid car and never went wrong in all the time I had it. You’ll definitely get a decent one for 7k. Like others have said they are surprisingly big inside and with the back seats down can hold loads of gear. Mine averaged about 30 mpg and servicing etc was pretty reasonable from Honda so they aren’t massively expensive to run :)

I’ve also got a 2014 26er with a 140mm Fox 32 fork. It’s a brilliant bike and can pretty much do it all including xc and trail centre duties. I don’t think it’s harsh either, my previous Cube HT was way way more uncomfortable :)

They were 150mm floats, but I reduced them to 140 as I still wanted to be able to clock up the miles . To be honest though they would have been fine as they were so I’d imagine 160 will also be fine, especially with talas :)

Looks great mate, not to dissimilar to mine ;)

It is exactly like an oversized bmx, and I don’t find it too stiff at all. I’ve just given a cube hard tail to the Mrs that could shake fillings loose. This is way more compliant and so much fun :)

I’m slightly apprehensive that I’ll just not use it as it may not be as fun as my full suss, hmmm

Thanks for the feedback lads, sounds like they could be worth a punt. Just checked chain reaction and they have been reduced to £270, even more of a bargain then when they were £340 a few days a go.

I’ve been looking at the Oozy wheelset, like you said all the reviews are good but they don’t specifically mention the hubs.

I’ve got HD trail star upfront with a pace star rear and I find them very grippy in most situations although they are absolutely terrible in thick mud, don’t shed the muck at all. Moved over from Conti Barons which were just as grippy but more draggy.

2009 A4 Avant here, you’ll easily get two bikes in the back but lying on their sides. I wanted some sort of floor mounted mount for the fork but the bike is too tall even with the wheel off as the roofline is pretty low. Very comfortable car but not the most exciting to drive. I had a 2007 3 door civic before this and with the rear seats down you could get two bikes in there standing upright with the front wheels off as the seats folded completely flat. The boot was cavernous with the seats down, more useable space than the A4.

I’ve also got one, I built it back in January and I really couldn’t be happier with it. Very confidence inspiring bike. Mine is a small frame and I’m 5’8″. Originally it weight just over 30lb with a 150mm Fox fork but I’ve since beefed it up to a 170mm solo air Lyrik and fitted a reverb so it’s probably closer to 32lb now. You won’t be dissapointed if you get one. Oh and I’m yet to see another one out on the trails :)

Normally just lurk here, but I’m running a M785 26/38t with a 40t max blackspire defender as I couldn’t get hold of a smaller one at the time. You can get it to work but there is very little clearance between the front mech and the defender (maybe 2-3mm) so it takes a bit of faffing about to get the mech set up ;)
