Thanks, I now feel slightly more confident about being able to get money out once I’ve put it in, even if it’s a bit of a hassle at first :)

Thanks lads. Gav in what way was it a pain getting the payments set up from Coinbase > Revolut > your bank?

And did you sell in Coinbase then transfer from your GBP wallet to Revolut?

Thanks, I’ll have a look at that gdax free trading video later on.  What are the actual fees like through Blockchain?

I’ve been keeping my eyes on this thread for a while and have decided I’m going to have a dabble in the whole cryptocurrency thing. So I’m going to throw in a couple of hundred quid and see what happens (Well prepared to lose the lot).

I have signed up to Coinbase but haven’t purchased anything yet as from what I’ve read it’s actually next to impossible to get any money back out of it to a UK based bank account. So I’ve also been looking at blockchain.info. For those of you using this is it any easier to actually get any money out of it and back to GBP?

    Thanks

As other have said, just go and enjoy it. I’ve just got back from NY on tuesday for the second time. It really is an amazing city and if you haven’t been before just doing all the touristy type stuff is good fun :)

It may be controversial but I’d give the Highline a miss, I found it pretty underwhelming to be honest………  way way over hyped ;)

Pretty much what ianc has just said, my computer indicates a  slightly higher average at about 38-39mpg and there is a lot of slow moving start stop in my commute too. I don’t know where Audi got their official figures from but they’re way off….. it’s a big old beast of a car after all.

Brilliant choice, what’s the lead time on it?

Here’s mine, got a lot burner too…… just need an Orange 5 as my transition doesn’t fit the stereotype ;)

It’s my 40th on Monday. Me and the wife are going to New York next thursday for a few days without the kids. Got nothing planned for the actual day (at work) but I’ll hopefully get out for a ride this weekend with my mtb mates and maybe organise a night out for a curry/beers as well :)

Ah nightmare. Yeah it’s based on list price, I paid nowhere near list and it made no difference. Just has to suck it up :(

What other options have you spec’d? No way to get it under 40?

I’m on my second C7 A6, they really are a great family car. I didn’t really have any intentions of getting a new one but they really are giving them away at the minute. Over christmas I changed to a 2.0l Avant black edition. The only sting in the tail for me was the road tax as the list price was over 40k it’s costing me £472 a year…… so be careful which model you go for if you don’t want to be raped for road tax :(

Good mate ..miss the old home though ..hope you are well too?

Yeah I’m good thanks, not been out on the bike much over the past 4-5 months. Had a pretty bad smash at BPW last year which left me out cold so that kind of dented my enthusiasm a bit. Got plenty of stuff planned this year though so should get back into it soon :)

Could well be, trail names at Thrunton confuse the hell out of me.

Out of interest, what’s the conditions like up there at the minute? I have a bit of a love/hate relationship going with the place but haven’t been in well over a year.

Eiger bypass? Isn’t that down the same was as Trail of Destiny and has a big rock slab at the top of the steep bit???

No experience with any of the banshee bikes but I was torn between a scout and a patrol. Ended up with a patrol in the end as it wasn’t though the scout would give me a weight advantage and the extra travel of the patrol would come in handy for some of the stuff I ride. Very happy I am with it too :)

Yeah I did think about recovering it, but then decided I just couldn’t be bothered. I’ve ordered one from Decathlon that I’m picking up this afternoon… so I shall see what that’s like :)

That saddle with flames is brilliant :)

Yeah seen both of those but they both seem to be pretty long. Ideally after something a bit shorter

I’ve got 2017 patrol and it’s been rock solid since day one, all the bearings are still going strong and I’m pretty unsympathetic in my riding and have been known to jet wash the thing every now and again :)

Great fun to ride as well.

Northernmatt, that sounds like exactly what I’m after. I’ve been looking for a Cnoc 16 that needs a bit of TLC as I want it to be a bit of a project that I can rebuild/repaint and customise for the little one. What exactly needs doing to it?

There is an Isla bikes sale group on Facebook you’ll find something there. We’ll have a cnoc 16 up for sale in the next few months as we’ll be on the hunt for beinn 20

How much are you wanting for the Cnoc 16 and where are you located?

Yeah I’m still feeling it Mike, headache has finally cleared up but my body and neck are still a tad tender. Luckily no permanent damage done apart from a slightly dented ego :)

I was there Sunday gone and it was running nicely until my day was cut short by an off on Insufficient Funds, knocked myself out cold I did. Concussion, bruised ribs, bruising over my right kidney and slight whiplash……. not to mention a ruined TLD full face and mobile phone.

    Sure you’ll survive though :)

Another vote for Collinite 476 wax as it’s pretty durable. Wash the car then clay, wash again, polish with autoglym super resin polish then a coat of collinite 476. Takes ages to do it properly but the results are worth it :)

I reckon it’s probably doable if you stay sensible with the gearing and wheels. My 2017 alu Patrol build came to just over 4k but that was with the top spec lyriks, Hope tech wheels and M8000 XT. Would have been another 1k for the carbon frame which I couldn’t justify :(

Does your company start with B by any chance? The US Pharma company I do love their BS Bingo
We had a Town Hall meeting last week

No, starts with an M, but I’m guessing they’re pretty much all the same when it comes to the b*llocks they speak :)

Working for a large US Pharma company we get bombarded with some of those already mentioned nearly everyday. My personal hates are:

    ‘Town Hall’ meetings
Putting ideas into a ‘Parking Lot’

As others have said, yeah you can. Here’s ours, the twin wall flue goes straight through the bedroom above and through the roof. Flue does get pretty hot in the upstairs bedroom so we will be getting it boxed in at some point.

I was up there a few weeks back. We did the Beinn Damh loop on the friday just using viewranger and to be honest you probably couldn’t have gone wrong just using a map.

We had a guide hired for days two and three and his local knowledge was priceless to be honest. The weather was horrendous on the saturday so he recommended another ride in the Fionn Loch/Fisherfieield area that we probably wouldn’t have found without him. The next day we just did the classic loop. This was the company we used:

I love mine, actually looking forward to the cooler weather so we can get it back on. If you leave all the doors open you can comfortably heat downstairs but it only has a negligible effect upstairs.

Like other have said it probably won’t save you money if you have to buy fire wood but there’s nothing better than having it on in the winter. The only draw back with me is that it tends to send me to sleep once it’s on haha. As for cleaning, I just wait till it’s cold and the hoover everything out with a Henry Hoover and you don’t get any dust :)

None, but I’m heading up to Laggan on thursday followed by three days in Torridon so I don’t feel as though I’m missing out this weekend :)

I’ve gone a bit mad this year with Jalapeno, red and yellow pepper plants. Have grown them all from seed and now have a greenhouse full, need to get shot of most of them :)

Like others have said easy to grow.

I bought a Merlin XT groupset for my Patrol and that came with 175mm cranks. Had read loads about about how low the bottom bracket is on the Patrol and 175mm cranks would leave me with no end of pedal strikes……. In reality, I very rarely get any. Go for it I say, it’s a good deal :)
