    @ chakaping

    Look / weight / price

    Bfe / Bfe / Surge.

Which do you prefer for climbing duties? ( or am being anal again ).

My 55’s are the ata2 model which I had converted to coil last year. I’ve lost most of the travel adjust but can win down to about 145mm if necessary. Although I like the Bfe if the SA is too slack I’m gonna have a crap time climbing ( which isn’t my strong point anyway ). So small surge + 50mm stem or large with a 30 – 35mm?

What Pikes do you recommend? So in yor opinion I should be looking at a Surge with Pikes?

This father of five will have to put it on his ‘ To buy ‘ list..

Do you have any experience of either frames mentioned?

    Explain Trolling in that instance!

….and how much do you think I’m gonna get for 2008 55’s? So according to you I now have to buy forks and a frame.

I have a 160mm fork already, Steel for the bit of flex it provides, low bb, slack HA. This will be my do it all, one and only bike so woods, jumps, singletrack, trail-center, all-dayer. Ideally a slacker Slackline.

” British ” is good. With the slack ha on the Bfe does that mean the front wandered when pointed up and was climbing a chore with either bike?

Which is easier to manual & hop and is there really no difference in the ride quality? Are their geo’s the same? A lot of questions I know, sorry.

Thread steal….what size Bfe for a 5′ 10 rider, bike to be flickable..small frame with 50mm stem, large with 35mm stem? How easy is the Bfe to manual? ( I’m considering a Bfe or NS Surge )

Are you talking about the ladder in the middle?

I’ve used ladders for the last 20 years at least and you wouldn’t get me working at that height off that ladder.

@ stevied..nice work. It’s a great feeling standing back and looking at a finished project eh? Bet your still doing it.

Those twin-walled polycarbonate roofing sheets are a good idea and they will help structurally when it snows..( don’t underestimate the weight of 6 or 8 inches of snow ).

Have you got any flashing planned for the brick & roof junction? ( think about the rain splasing up off the roof onto the brickwork ) flashing will provide a bit of protection as well as stopping water running past the roof and down the wall.

What bencooper & jackthe dog said. Wet enviroment not a problem but one fibre can kill you. The danger was known back in the early 1900’s but was still used in gas-masks

Was it a bit of corregated asbestos if yes then its Probs a maximum 15% asbestos.

Wash the tyre down, wash your clothes ( Don’t go into the house! …just kidding ).

If you’re hyperchondriac you’ll be worrying about something else tomorrow anyway. Eat your greens!

Here’s a couple of pics of my first pergola which I built last year for someone

    .

    18 foot span between front posts, 12′ posts 9″ x 9″. Very heavy. Knee braces all recessed mortice & tenon jointed & pegged a la timber-frame. Beams are 22′ 9″ x 3″

    http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac50/tymbian/Bespoke%20softwood%20Pergola/IMAG0243_zpsbfc58d69.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5Dnull

All beam & rafter tails cut to the golden ratio…

A small amount or type 1 ( hardcore ) tamped around the posts enough to fill the holes will stop any movement as stoner said. Make sure any backfill aggregate is angular.

ps. You can’t successfully tamp/ compress wet soil or clay.

My son would probably sell his for £250 as he need to fund his motorbike insurance although he’d ideally like more. Fantastic bike which cost over £600 so its right about bmx not holding their value. I can post a link if you’ld like… let me know.

    How tall are you?

    tymbian

What do you want the bmx for: street, park, race, pumptrack?

What bike you getting the lad? I’d recommend and bmx race in size mini or micro mini. Lightweight, correct size bars, cranks etc. Don’t forget his safety gear. :D

The Shans not cheap though at £600 + a headset and the 92mm press-fit bb means a new bb & new crank so not just the cost of swapping the frame out .

They do look the dogs danglies though.

The nubs would have to have a suitable base. You’re not gonna just be able to build in a RSJ without calcs. What span, and what load does it need to take. For your own safety I’d get the calcs done.

I had mentioned to the school that paying £350 for a Devon trip comes at the wrong time and was there a bursary or something….? I was given the contact details of a religious group that might help. I read on their webpage that they can only help children who are in their Parish which my son is unfortunately not. When I mentioned this to the school/ trip organiser she just said oh I’m sorry! Ther was no indication that there were other measures in place or that the trip costs were voluntary.

I have the same issues with my sons school-trip to Devon, there probaly going to the same place. The price of the trip is disgusting. My forum post click here

What makes me even more pissed off is I found out on Monday that another local school just down the road from my sons school are going to Paris for the same price..£350 4 days with trips up the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre etc. etc. ….seems like a better educational journey & the better deal to me and value for money.

Do I have a right to ask the school to justify the costing?

A client of mine had one, too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter until I put a false ceiling in it with insulation on top….overjoyed he was, bloody fantastic. He can use it all year round.
