@ peterpoddy..no scorn intended in my post to 2unfit 2ride & I’m sure njee20 is the fastest…doesnt make him any less a dick though for ridiculing someone who has offered up an opinion. He didn’t try to contribute to the op’s question whatsoever.

What part of my post deserved ridicule?

Ask again for a pay rise…tell them if the answer is no, that you’ll leave. if they say go ahead tell them you will open up a print firm near them which would potentially force them to close. You can be sure they know all about the 25% you make..

    @njee20 you’re a dick!
Yes at 48 I use the words rad and sick frequently & have only ever ridden Swinley. I wish I was brilliant like you. I’m sure your wife loves you very much.

@2unfit2ride.. sorry bud but no. You riding xc/trails? at 6′ I don’t know why you would want to ride with a bar width of 680mm unless it just tame bridleways etc you’re riding. I think a wider bar enables more leverage which equates to less force being needed to hold the bars straight at high speed when you hit something that tries to pry the bars from your grip.

Just left her husband afaik.. But I’ve called bagsies..

I also have the Answer bars at 780mm and find it spot on. I’m only 5′ 10″ so dont have the ganglest set of arms.

Proper fun when riding the red at swinley. I’m sure that if I went back up a section and actually stood and tried to fit my bars through the gaps between trees I wouldnt ride half as fast through the trees..Best not to know..

In answer to your original post though, 1m 60 would defo be too wide..

    how tall are you OP?

I felt exactly the same about 8 months ago. Constant Hawthorne punctures. Got fed up with going to the shed to get the bike out for a quick blast only to find the tyres were flat. 7 punctures one week.

Took the plunge, bought Chunky monkey & Smorgasbord tyres, some stand fluid, bmx tubes…and haven’t had a puncture since. Fooking brilliant. Best upgrade to date..

I’ve just built this for a customer, fully lined & insulated with power. Lights & sockets. The possibilities and build options are endless.. this measures 2.8m x 3.0m approx

RRR Chesterfield is too far for me..( Banbury )

Had a thought today ( like you do )…Remove the floor from the bathroom, put a decently thick polythene sheet on the rafters, replace floor. Let the joists dry out from underneath via the removed kitchen ceiling. This way you, Mrs RRR and the pink one wont have to do without a bathroom.

If the floor-boards are solid timber then there’s a good chance they will dry out ( without ply etc. on top ). when they do re-fix. I, personally wouldn’t re-use any ply or chip-board that’s had two weeks of saturation.

Go for a race bmx as the sizings are better. ie not just top-tube but crank-length, bar width and height. How tall is your lad?

Second hand probably best, 150 – 160mm travel, Spesh pitch, Nukeproof mega ..

I’ve heard that there are many hidden gems at Swinley: maybe these could be incooperated so as to be able tofurther skill levels. As much as I love blasting around the blue and red a few more techy sections would be a bonus.

The floor will need replacing end of. Once the old is removed you’ll need to let it dry out…for at least a week depending on the amount of heating you have..when the floor is removed have a look at the ‘ top ‘ of the Kitchen ceiling ( probably plasterboard ) and look for damage. If the kitchen ceiling is sodden it’ll need replacing also..

    Good luck with the bab.

Go for a pressure treated structural grade timber, C24 ( preferred ) or C16. It would be stamped on the end or somewhere on the face.

+1 lead flashing. Be careful on the asbestos roof as brittle. Keep the roof moist whilst working on it. & before working in the shed spray the underside of roof with a pva/ water mix to bind the fibres ). Better still get rid of the asbestos.

@ chapaking…I know there are differences but if he had his way he’d have a full on DH bike. Apart from Aston hill there are no DH tracks around. I don’t ride DH so it’s going to be a case of having something he can pedal up and ride down. I currently have a BFe but will be going to get a squishy soon.
