My travel insurance is with Flexicover Direct – about £40 for my wife and includes Winter sports. Had to claim twice on the policy over the last 3 years and they have paid up both times with no issues.

Still raining in the Surrey Hills area today with more forecast throughout the day. Should be dry tomorrow, but as already pointed out above the ground is fairly waterlogged at the moment so expect plenty of mud.

Monster.co.uk is a good place to look as for a job as well as post your CV.

You might try and get a profile up on LinkedIn if you think it is relevant to your skill set. LinkedIn is a professional networking site and is good if you think that a job might come from a referral, from someone one of your friends/colleagus knows.

As Downsman states the Land Registry may have inadvertantly made a mistake and carried it over. As a slight aside LR are currently diigitising all the boundaries so that eventually you will be able to access a digital version of your property overlaid onto an OS map.

I’ve had an iPhone for the past 2 months after 10+ years with Nokia ones. Despite it’s shortcoming (agree with Mark’s list – also would like turn by turn GPS)I wouldn’t swap it.

Some great advice and really helpful posts.

The only thing I would suggest is to try and set some medium term goals for stuff that you have always wanted to do but for some reason never gotten around to it. Something like doing a 24 hour ride, leaning to scuba dive. As others have said things will get easier over time. I found that having a goal – (mine was to do a marathon) helped me keep things in perspective and gave me something to focus on rather than always dwelling on the past.

If the new job exists I would take the redundancy. One of the problems with a company that has laid off a lot of people is the negative atmosphere that seems to prevail after the event. Also if the company is in the sh*te it will take a while to recover. Better off joining somewhere that’s more upbeat about their prospects.

Been in this position twice in the past 6 years. I wouldn’t take any job as I’m with Samuri – would want to have flexibility to attend interviews and networking events.

Also I don’t think it would look too good to potential emploers if I did just anything because the perception would be that I not good at my job if I can’t get a role in the line of work I have spent most of my career in.

The only reason I would sign on is not for the money but to keep my NI contributions up to date. Also as I previously had mortgage insurance at the time it was worth more to sign on and claim the insurance than it was to take any old low paid work.

At least your hair is likely to settle down with no long term side effects. Something simialr happened to a friend and the next day he had a large tuft of white hair appear in the middle of his normally dark brown coloured hair. Made him look like a skunk and he acquired a new nickname from then on!

Always a tough one. As previously stated the buyer normally wins these types of disputes via Paypal. I would ask him whether he would consider a discount to avoid the hassle of having to get the goods back and relisting.

If he wants a full refund – get him to return the item and give him a refund less the original P&P cost. If he was concerned about the extent of the scrtaches he should have asked for more detailed pics.

I use a Chef’s Choice Compact sharpener which was a cookshop recommendation.

Not very happy with it and wouldn’t recommend it myself. Also considering the MinoSharp – so would be interested in what people think of it.

I would have thought it was bordering on the commercial. Funny how the poster only registered today and hasn’t made any other posts.

Been looking around myself for a cheap copy of Vista. Lowest cost was for an OEM version from: Digital Sunrise.

Don’t know anything about the company though.

Yes, I use the maps application which is based on Google maps and is better than nothing. What I want is an in car SatNav. Apparently Tomtom have got it working on the iPhone but can’t agree terms with Apple. I don’t know if it’s the size of the app or the pricing/competition with Google that can’t be sorted out.

Following the knive thread that I think you are referring that was on the forum last year I went and got a set of Sabatiers from TK Maxx at about 20% of the RRP.

I really like my iPhone. The main gripe I have is not having a "turn by turn GPS" application such as TomTom. I would suggest that you get a better set of earphones to replace the standard Apple ones.

A bit more than you want to spend (around £150) but I got a Revo iBlick Radiostation for Xmas. Great DAB radio with WiFi streaming. Also used as a dock for my iPhone.

2 fully programmable alarms – e.g. weekdays and week-ends with either DAB radio or ipod coming on at whatever volume you want. Might be some others in their range that offer what you want for less money.

Similar to Spooky but mine was a Western Digital 1TB from PCWorld online for £68 with instore collection. Also has USB2.0 connection.

I think that DSG – owners of Dixons, Currys and PCWorld is struggling and would expect to see quite a few Curry’s stores closed down before too long.

Would be good to have a search facility like the old fourm had; which I guess would come in time.

Will there be any sticky threads – if so, why not start one with the features we would like to see added to the forum.
