There’s a new pump track on Hove seafront too which opened a week ago. Worth a look if you’re local

+1 for MW7’s. I’m a 43 in cycling shoes and they are roomy allowing for thick socks.

    Bird Zero 29?

I’ve just got a Zero 29 and even though the geometry is pushing boundaries it climbs really well, is comfortable on an all day ride and encourages fast riding on the downs. I can’t speak for your other options but you won’t be disappointed with the Bird.

    DMR’s or these Shimano’s

I’m racing male pairs although my team mate is ill and may not be able to come 😬. 6 year old daughter is doing the mini dog race too!

Thanks for all the responses. In the end I went for the A530’s and so far they have been great. They are are lighter than I thought and the grip on the flat side is really good (although I have only tried this side in the dry).

I used to be ‘in the office’ all day so proper spd’s were fine but now I often have to pop out to meetings etc once at work where spd’s aren’t suitable to wear so combination pedals are a must (although a compromise).

99% very lucky to be 100m from the South Downs National Park and 10 minute ride over to Stanmer Park in Brighton. I only have to drive if I’m going to some sort of event.

what’s the difference? Haven’t got a lezyne to compare, but I presumed it was the same light from same factory just rebranded

From what I can see the main difference are the modes you can choose from.

Looking at a toro for this winter, will i be disappointed in the output. I really don’t need the light of a thousand suns and i have a joystick for my heed!

No, the toro is a great light. I use mine in combination with a sirius and it perfect for the tight twisty trails I usually ride.

As with anything though, the more you spend, the brighter you get. Depends on your budget.

No, I monstercrossed it keeping the 2.3’s on it. Perfect for the sscxeu course… In my opinion

Do it! I put drop bars on my inbred for the SSCXEU chanps in Brighton last week and it has been great fun. Needed to put a 45mm stem on the keep the reach acceptable though.

We got a balance bike for my daughter when she was 2 but she didn’t really start riding her balance bike until 2 1/2, and even then she would only ride for 20 mins max. She’s now 4 and we bought her a pedal bike (no stabilisers) for christmas, straight on it and riding really well after 30 mins practice. As others above say don’t try too hard to get them on it, they will start riding it when they are ready.

I have a Brite-R Duo II and its been great so far, the clamp was a bit rubbish so I reused an old hope one. The batteries seem fine on my light (4 battery pack) still holding their charge well after having them for 18 months.

Yes, it is probably just a rebadged Chinese one but worth an extra couple of quid for a uk warrenty.

Another vote for the uberbike one here. I have 2 of the ss ones and they are still spinning like new after a year of daily all weather use on the commuter and HT.

I cycle up and down that road all the time and the bendy buses almost always drive on or over the white line. I might take note of the red button too (incase of an emergency…)

I bought a Viner Strada Bianca from PX, the 2×11 Rival Hydro version and it is great. I don’t have a lot of experience in other cx/adventure road bikes but it covered my want list and I liked the colour. I think they have a great deal on the Tomac version (same frame different graphics) at the moment.

    Worth a look.

I’ve had no problems with mine and it does everything I want it to do. The mapping is good and easy to follow, it uploads to strava easily through Garmin Connect and I use basecamp to create routes (have only done this a couple of times though). I didn’t want any of the extra features the 810 etc offered so it offered much better value.

BSP are great, my band (Brighton & Hove City Brass) have supported them a few times in Brighton including playing Waving Flags with them on stage. Will be a support act again at their Kristmas Krankenhaus @ the Haunt in december 😀

This happened to a colleague of mine, he told his insurers and they said keep it.

It usually works out better telling the truth at the start.

I’ve got them (alloy version) upside down on my Kona DrDew and they feel great. Also used them on a HT the right way round.

Worked well for me too with 32c tyres. As others have said you get a higher bb than on a road bike but that’s not really a problem.

The Schwalbe chart is better (more modern) although I have run tyres too wide / too narrow and its been fine. I think I’ve got them running @ about 60psi at the moment miranmtb.

Should be fine, I’m running 32 & 37mm tyres on 23mm internal rims on my hybrid at the moment. The 32 was tight to get on though…

I read you can use a ‘normal’ qr wheel, its just a bit of a faff splaying the fork to get the wheel in.

I used them last year and they were great too. I did have to supply them with the dimensions though (which I got from the frame manufacturers website to be sure).

Just bought a 34t chain ring for the 29er to go 1×10. I also need to change the bearings in my front wheel (they’re currently sitting in the toolbox).

I won’t need anything else for a looooong time but wanting is another question.
