If your car is still under warranty you’ll invalidate the warranty if you don’t get it sorted at a VW garage. I speak from experience (Volvo). Amazingly my insurance covered everything…entire new fuel system including 5 new injectors. That’s what Volvo insisted was done even tho I only drive 30 feet…tho I’m not convinced the garage really did it!

Apparently in older diesels it’s ok as the tolerances are much less fine than modern diesels.

What Jamie said…you have no idea what that dog has been through.

High blood pressure isn’t always stress related and if you have gentically high BP, relaxing won’t make any difference. As Dibs said, 10mg of ramipril will tho :-)

lose weight, give up processed food, do lots of exercise….. take the drugs. I’ve been taking an ACE inhibitor for 3 years…my BP was about the same as yours (measured over a 24 hr period to get rid of the white coat effect). The doctor asked me about my lifestyle and basically said I’d done all I could to reduce it naturally, so had no choice (other than risk stroke, heart attack, etc etc). I’ve had no side effects (fingers crossed)

Brechfa…black and red combined starting with the black (gets the hardest climbing out of the way first)

    Twodogs

what Creamegg said…Brechfa much closer to Carmarthen…you could do the black and red combined for a longer rider (about 38km). was up there at the weekend and it was lovely and dry…a bit of the red was closed for repairs, but only a small bit

What Bigmick25 said unless the Ts&Cs are deemed unfair by a court

    Twodogs

Sadly I think the only way they will change those crap Ts&Cs is of they are challenged in a court of law. If it were me I’d go down the small claims route…and name both Royal Mail and the Auction house. I appreciate the OP might not want to bother with the cost and hassle

Whether terms and conditions are legally enforceable isn’t a police matter…That’s for the courts to decide

Why would the police care? they’re just following their Ts & Cs

(Not that I agree with them but I can’t see why it could be considered theft or fraud)

I think shouting from the rooftops on social media is the answer but you have to give the chap from head office a chance to do something….he has, after all, got on touch twice

The climb, 16.2 km of fireroad, 760m of new single track and the final descent?

That’s a real shame..Gorlech is great fun…it’s a great trail to nip up to and whizz round for 90mins in the winter..And manageable on my singlespeed too, unlike Raven! (Maybe with more training!)

You can ride them both together without transferring along the road between the two car parks, as mentioned above

it’s a good ride…about 36km altogether. to me, it seems slightly easier to do the black (raven) first, as you get the two biggest climbs out of the way earlier. there’s signs as you drop down from the highest point of the Raven pointing to the Gorlech, then at the top of the final descent of the Gorlech, there’s signs to the Raven…

    is it signed?

    yes.

I’ve had XM1550 Tricon wheels for 2 years…light, stiff and still holding true after all that time, including a Transrockies

it’s not the noise that I’m worried about…it’s the slipping (if that’s what it is)

    Twodogs

OK. I give up. I tried another wheel…exactly the same result. I wish I could see what’s actually going on, but it doesn’t happen with the bike in the stand.
I really have no idea what to do next :|

it’s a 16T cog. I’d not thought about the freehub being knackered…it has been sitting round unused for a while. I could also quite quickly swap wheels for one that I know has a sound hub.
thanks guys…I’ll let you know how I get on

It’s a Hope Pro2, with spacers to put the cog in line

    ok…just checked:
    Middleburn Mono 3/32″ chainring
    KMC 3/32″ singlespeed chain
    Surly splined singlespeed cog..3/32″

so that should all be fine. I guess the only thing I don’t know about is the pulley wheel on the tensioner…I think I read somewhere that it’s a “Shimano standard”..whatever that is. maybe that’s not OK with a 3/32″ chain

    Twodogs

the Yess tensioner gets some good write-ups around the web.

Psling, I’m starting to conclude that the chain isn’t compatible with the cog…I’ve spend some time today fiddling, and putting more tension in, but I’m still getting the “clunk”. I’m starting to wonder if the chain is not sitting on the cog properly, and then slips onto it under pressure – which would explain why it doesn’t clunk with no pressure.

not sure what chain I’m using, other than I knowa KMC (?).

you can feel it through the pedals, definitely.
Hicksy, the tensioner is made specifically made for FS frames, and looks, and works, like a rear mech., so it takes up the slack as the chain grows.
I’ll have a play today and take a couple of links out of the chain, and maybe see if I can put more tension in the tensioner (the spring position is adjustable)
thanks for the ideas so far!

    Twodogs
    Full Member

Yes i have but i can’t see what’s happening….with the bike upsidedown it barely clunks (more clicks!). With me on it….I can’t see what’s going on!
Chain tension seems like a good place to start maybe?

    Twodogs

yep new chain, sprocket and chainring. I wondered about a stiff link, but it seems to be very irregular. I’ll check the whole chain again. maybe take a couple of links out? (sadly Yess don’t provide any setup guide)
