Whips are ok but not in this way. As someone said above they are largely used for light touch, when you can’t reach. Horses can feel flies on their skin so you don’t need pain.

Sorry, I’m being thick…how is using something to irritate a horse positive reinforcement?  You might as well use a small electric shock.  I’m genuinely not trolling, and maybe it’s not being explained well.

Yep, modern dog training is about positive reinforcement, not punishment.

I’ve been doing Duolingo French for a while now, but for the last year have supplemented it with a weekly 1:1 conversation with an actual French teacher (who is French)

I would agree with others, good for basics, and vocab, but not great for conversation.  I’ve Also found the duolingo french podcasts very helpful for improving listening skills, but you need to be at a certain level before you can get anything from them.

I can’t see how Trump’s choice of running mate increases his voter base.  It’ll cement what he already has, but it needs to expand….and that guy will put off some “don’t knows”.

Also, Vance is going to spend the next 4 months explainig that he didn’t mean it when he called Trump “America’s Hitler”.

OTOH the VP candidate probably doesn’t make any difference to the average voter.
