Grip strength is number 1 if you have massive grip strength then everything becomes a lot easier, my moto is if you can’t grip it you can’t rip it.
Try single arm hang toes to bar, makes pull ups look like a walk in the park.
The gym i used to go to had an 85 year old who could do full ab wheel roll outs.

It’s also important to keep tension in every muscle you can muster, so no dangley legs, the more tension equals more power. Don’t try to pull yourself up pull the bar down, i used to get the bar to waist level, oh and don’t crane the neck over the bar.
Don’t cross legs because you need to be symmetrical while in tension. Using a fatter bar also builds power and protects the elbows which are usually where the problems begin once you get beasty.
I would throw in some deadlifting to compliment them.

Dead hang first then work on grip, most can’t pull from dead hang and only cheat themselves. My best pull was +40kg, could also do a one arm a few years back. Negatives can build some decent strength.
Just remember you are learning a skill, it takes practice and time.
The key to powerful pull ups is core strength, do not cross your ankles/legs.

Just a quick update, i had my surgery full prosthetic on both hips on Thursday and came home Saturday, I’m really glad i had them done at the same time. The physio was amazed at my recovery, I’m able to put full weight on both hips and recon the crutches will be gone pretty soon.
Yes it’s tougher than one, but you only have to do it once and i feel six inches taller, happy days. 🙂

It’s not resurfacing it’s complete hip replacement, it’s interesting to know there are folk on here who seem better informed than my consultant who has looked at my xrays and chatted extensively with me. I was looking for things that have been experienced first hand that may help AFTER I’ve had the operation. I know some of you mean well, but telling me i should only get one done at a time is NOT helpful.

Thought this may be of interest, i started playing two years ago and had my first practice yesterday with a drummer and bass player with a plan to gig next summer. It was really scrappy and i need to listen more but at times it didn’t sound too shabby, luckily the drummer is very good. Hoping to work on some original tunes as well, the only real problem is we drank enough beer to refloat the Titanic.
I now need a gigging guitar amp so happy days.

There’s a recession on the way, some raging inflation for a while and plenty of misery of epic proportions for us minions.

Life is short, yes make plans but live in the moment, the last company i worked for asked me for my phone number and i said you can’t have it. Man it was tough the pressure was enormous but they didn’t get it, i also had three more days holiday than everyone else, that caused quite a stir when colleagues found out. Sometimes you have to be a NO man and not be ambiguous about your feelings, I’ve found it garners respect.
