    My training just now is.

1 weekend ride quite long – 107 miles on Sunday
2 weekday rides at mental pace with other roadies – total including commute about 55 miles
3 other days commuting – 27 miles each
1 other day off riding casual so only about 20 -30 miles but just a chilled out relaxing day
    1 -2 weekday night rides of about 20 – 30 miles each.

1 thing i'm gonna do though is lose a commute day to just relax and rest. Not done any of that recently

My money's going on radoggair For The Win, if he's truly doing all this and continues to do so! 😀

TBH you'd be better off getting some designers create both the graphics…and the whole frame for you 😀

Sometimes you'll feel rougher after 6hrs that you will after 15. My legs often ache more in the first 8hrs than they do later on.

You'll have good points and bad points (and you will have bad points), it's your head that'll be the limiting factor. 🙂

Whre's the chocolate covered flapjack I bought to go with my cup of coffee gone?

    Burp. 🙂

Yup, have entered. Have stood, agasp, looking at the sheer number of 'heavyweight contenders' and, having ridden round Newcastleton a couple of times now, have realised that the course could very easily turn the event into a full on epic!

It will be fast and it will get very, very hard

    OY!
I had some of my groupies wash it down. They'll do anything for an autograph 🙂

igm: it's a lot more forgiving that you'd think from the description – it just makes you want to go all 'head down'

Never met him but from what I've seen/read he's just a bloke that really, really likes riding bikes, buggering off into the countryside for long periods of time, isn't up himself and has a nice writing style.

Not sure what else you'd want or expect?

Rego rapid's good if you're doing day after day high intensity/long duration training, or a stage race.

For most people and most training schedules just a normal recovery drink – like the powerbar/torq/other SiS/maximuscle/etc ones wil do everything you need and cost a bit less.

If you're somewhere in between the two situations, try a "normal" recovery drink and suppliment it with some of the Rego Nocte stuff – seems to do the trick for me when I've got a few rides lumped one after another 🙂

    Mine:

Looks a bit different now, as I've stuck lighter and nicer stuff on it, but you get the idea.

Please, pleeeeease let the race course go through the beer tent, I want to crash in there 😀

Squirt's certainly the longest lasting wax style lube I've used – by a long way!

It's much easier to clean off too, so it's thumbs up from me 🙂

The big berms were still closed off on Tuesday.

And much of the top half is still in ruins! 😐

I'm on to week 3 of waiting for my new wheels from them – the original processing time (when I ordered) was 5 days according to their site, it's now up to 2 weeks 😕

The order did go from "received" to "processing" within 24hrs though…so I'm assuming my wheels are v hard to build (in fact it might be my fault everyone else's orders are moving to "processing" so slowly 😛 )

It just sits there, crying out for adventures and big long rides whenever I'm not out on it.

any advantage over technical terrain ?,any more stable going downhill ? or do we just spend more time cleaning them and talking "nicheness"

Yes, they roll better over lumps and bumps, hold their speed better and the newer ones don't feel much different to 26" wheels, handling wise.

    They're lovely 🙂

Bit of salami, extra mature cheddar, blob of brown sauce on the side.

    Hungry now!

But of course most 29er riders are such riding gods that we have 2 bikini-clad pit pixies to polish our wheels each lap and give our nipples a tweak if necessary…

I do not, under any circumstances, want to see my usual 'pit pixie' in a bikini.
Nor do I imagine Wayne would want to wear one.

Don't forget that, no matter how much faster you might be able to ride while you're out, with a 29er you've got an extra 3" of wheel to clean after each ride at either end.

    Bang goes your free time.

Logan's Run – the first time I watched it, it was introduced by Mark Kermode, who advised turning off ten minutes before the end. I did and it was a great film.

I made the mistake of watching it right to the end years later and was dreadfully disappointed!

As for films with 'sad' endings already – I loved Invasion of the Body Snatchers, particularly the 1978 remake – top notch ending 😀

    That looks ace!

Yes, it looks smooth and, in some ways, kind of generic but I imagine that was the idea – I doubt they were trying to recreate the gnarliest of lakeland descents, or build a mini Fort William, just something for the local population to 'nip out' to for a quick blast in the fresh air.

I also think that's the best sign I've seen for a while too. I really like it 😳

If you can see out the back it's not full 😉

I ran out of stuff to take last time…and still had a clear view behind me!

(ps spirited driving in the berlingo can be done at 30mph – it's all about the comedy body roll in the corners 😀 )

    twinklydave

Thinkgs kep going wrong with my berlingo, but for some reason I still love it!

suspension snapped (possibly overloaded while being driven "spiritedly")
    instrument cluster died
water pump failed (luckily it was fixed at the same time as getting the cam belt replaced)
rear windscreen wiper died (yesterday in fact)
oh and the brakes were sh1t, then I got them replaced…and they're still sh1t 😀

the joy of just throwing bikes in the back, without having to worry about taking bits off/scrubbing stupid carpeted interiors afterwards seems to make up for it

yup, been using bog standard spd's and non-carbon soled shoes on the road bike for years.

ridden for over 9hrs and over 140 miles of country roads without my feet falling off (so far)

I can't really justify the expense of new shoes when the bike isn't raced or anything like that

    collar bone – 1
    ribs – 3
    nose – 1
teeth( do they count?) – 2

pretty lame really, though I did rip my nose clean off and got to see down my own nostril, which was somewhat unexpected.

Have they designed any of the singletrack with beer tent locations in mind? 😉

    Planet X rims?
They seem quite prone to the whole "metal shaving" thing, not matter how clean the brake pads…riding round rivi in the wet on them was nigh on terrifying!

    Your missus sounds ace! 😀

There does seem to be a lot of muppets on the roads at the moment, sadly there's not much in place to stop them being crap 😕
