This in not the cockney rhyming slang thread I was hoping for

Me either – boring isn’t it?

    Dear UKPC

Your letter arrived today, in which you wrote to me as the registered keeper of the above vehicle, describing your claim as a creditor of the driver at the time.

Having considered your request, I decline your invitation to name the driver, which is not required of me as the keeper of the vehicle.

In your correspondence, you allege that the driver of the vehicle remained “at the car park for longer than the stay authorised or without authorisation”. Two photographs of the vehicle were provided, however neither show it definitively in the location you allege.

Please be aware that I hold evidence of the vehicle being elsewhere at the time in question, and will not enter into further correspondence with you on this matter.

    lots of love.

For a short while longer all that travel will be within the EU, so I think you should (in theory) be able to do it with photo ID, rather than a passport.
Driving licence ought to be sufficient, but maybe check with the airlines concerned first (in these troubled times).

    sorry for your loss.

Any way of locking an android or apple device to ONLY display a particular app unless password is re-entered?

Android Kiosk mode is the thing you want. Think you might need another app to do it though.

Decathlon velcro strap thingy here. Not 100% waterproof, but good enough. Phone is inside, strap round stem so plenty secure.

Were it me, I think I’d go for a second hand off ebay (e.g. item 254070118036) (not mine) – unless the colour needs to match? As noted above you’ll be going the ‘right’ way for 9/10/11 compatibility, so pick one and go for it!

iirc JIS and ISO differ in taper angle and length, meaning the end is thinner so the cranks go on further – I can’t remember which way round it is, but the net result is that it’ll work either way, but might change your chainline. Or the inner ring will hit the chainstay (guess how I know…).

have PM’d you the guy that did ours – fewer tiles on my house than yours, but I spent quite a bit less than 7K (inc all new sarking) . Think he was from Denny or somewhere that way.
Fascias seem to be stupidly expensive for what they are, so might be worth doing the lot while the scaffold is up?

I have experimented with a cheap adapter that is essentially a metal tube, with the appropriate bayonets at each end. Manual everything. You can have it if you want.
PM me (if that’s still a thing on here)?

instinct puts it in the same box as PPI, but I do have a nagging doubt.

Suspect it’s likely to boil down to how good your records are (or if the insurance costs are less than putting them in order…).

Yeah, it’s the path length/destination folder.  ‘cut long names’ is a wee app thingy that sorts them out if they are buried all over the place.

I have been in my current position for over 10 years and am proud of my contributions to missions that enhanced understanding of earth and space; the apogee* being the Rosseta/Philae mission landing a spacecraft on a comet in the outer reaches of the solar system.  I am seeking fresh challenges in a new environment that will test the skills and experiences developed in my career to date.

    *couldn’t resist

I’d put all this in the covering letter though.

Can’t quite make out the detail on the ‘chart’ but I wonder if your first instructon should refer to the West Cardinal at the southern end of the estuary.

(Easter Egg and Wasp Waisted) for assistance in poor visibility (or poor resolution in this case) – Cardinal top mark arrows point to the black stripes.

Oh there’s no doubt about the legitimacy of the story – last time it was a woman who was wheelchair bound I think.

While the thought had crossed my mind for a bit of messing about, you are probably right that discretion is the better part of valour.

That said, i’m tempted to ask about the pudding (even if it does sound a bit like an offshore euphemism)

    Further thanks to all.

Since writing I have double checked firmware and drivers – Cougar’s link was where I think I did this when I first set up the dock, and both said ‘you are already up to date’

Power – good point DaveP.  90W supply (came with dock), vs 40W on the laptop – swapped and got an error message about low power.  USB and network all behaving as expected, just the display ports (two of them: neither works).

I did have a DP-HDMI, and swapped if for DP-DVI (thinking it was the cable).  Same symptoms (display not detected).  The dock has only DP outs.  Monitor works with HDMI-HDMI.  I don’t have another DP source to test with unfortunately.

It’s not one of those directional cable things is it?  I thought that was just for HiFi buffs?

Lenovo forum suggests drivers, but I think I’ve addressed that.  Have logged a ticket.

    you lot are quick, thanks

Dock has it’s own special connector (a onelink port according to lenovo).  Dock driver and windows up to date.

Attempting to duplicate output gives a ‘no display detected’ message.

No idea about 2nd hand costs, but i’ve always found the keyboards on lenovos to be pretty good.

you get a nubbin as well as a trackpad on some of them too!

Question I’ve always wondered about. Does the value of a given hnnnng vary proportionally to the proximity to exposed chainring teeth?

No – that’s where the aaaaahhhh scale come in.

    twicewithchips

pretty sure 50 is “hnnnnng” (on a standard ratchet), I may be one or two n’s out.

Posssibly try Polyframe in livingston if you are happy doing your own measuring (it’s not hard, the tolerances are huge), then get a local joiner to fit?  Or talk to the joiner/fitter first and do it that way round

As above – plastic is plastic, glass is glass.

Miche Primato might suit.  The BB used to come without shoulders on the threaded bits making chainline adjustment dead easy.

I think officially for track use, but I found them pretty robust (scottish winter commuting)

yep – pretty sure its the badger divide route.  Breaks into three quite well with stops at Fort Augustus (Morag’s), Loch Ossian (SYHA) and Lochearnhead (Tomrannoch Bunkhouse)

Gravel Bike is fine.  The wild but mild thread has some useful stuff too.

Limited food in Fort A, so plan your arrival (or fill up at Abriachan on the way).  Top route in the great glen is surprisingly tiring.

Route finding wan’t too complicated.  I probably have a gpx, but the TRC site looks like it has what you need.

    Highly recommended!

Depending on the degree of accuracy needed, you could estimate as follows:

17th Aug 2019 is the day after full moon.

Spring tides (and neaps) are about 0700 (BST) at Kings Lynn (http://www.kingslynnport.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Kings-Lynn-HW-2018-July-Dec.pdf)

Tide goes out for 6 hrs, then comes back in for 6 (more or less).

So at noon the tide will be on its last hour of ebb.

    i.e. tide’s out at lunchtime.

edit: I was typing while MrHoppy beat me to it (and am quite pleased that they concur)
