I’ve never heard a dog owner admit that their dog:

Worries sheep: he has hearded sheep of his own accord on occasion yes
Shits on paths and it doesn’t get cleared up NO! he likes do do that in long grass or bushes at the side god knows why as it a PITA to clean up and YES i Do!
    Attacks people
has never attacked anyone that didnt deserve it, i.e the theiving TW*T trying to steal my bikes, and never will
Runs at/in front of people on bikes [/b]never really did in the fisrt place but after i ran him over one day he now steers well clear of oncoming bikes[/b]
Is not under their control (or often anywhere near them)[/b] No he’s never under my control really, and does chose when to listen but he’s never out of eyesight, and always comes when needed

    And yet……

Same can be said of parents etc. most are responsible, some are not. That goes for people too. I’ve had more issues on trails form inconsiderate areswipes on bikes than I ever have from dogs.

+1 there are far more inconsiderate and down right rude idiots on bikes who dont GAF about anyone else but themselves out there than any person on a bike with their dog

and to people saying its a fashion these days to be seen with dog,,, I have been MTB’ing with my dogs since the 90’s

Always take plenty of water and a folding bowl.

my boy would never drink (apart from muddy puddles) until one hot day he gave in and now happily drinks from a water bottle when we go out, me squirting of course

I have ridden mainly swinley for 3 years with my jack/corgi cross and he loves it especially the berms, can manage 15-18km, is nearly always in front of me or directly behind chasing, yes he does poop in the woods but so do everyone esles dogs, foxes deer squirrels badgers etc and he’s naver pooped on a trail, if he poops anywhere near a fire road it gets cleaned up, has never caused anyone to come off their bikes or got in the way of anyone, i always keep an eye out for oncoming riders and warn them. I havent taken him up to the new trails yet as i feel it is too busy now.
your springer will be much more obedient than my terrier and also able to go further(longer legs :))so dont worry about ridng with her, just get on with it and train her to stay close to you.

You said 75-80. You can easily travel at 70mph and this will save you a good bit of fuel.

not so sure about that… i have an Audi A4 1.8T (1996) and 75-80mph it will average 36-37mpg….. however when over in europe (honest officer) and doing between 85-100mph it averages 38-40mpg!! work that out…. (german car geared for the autobahn)

    anyway back on topic…

I was only taught how to drive on motorways after I had passed my test and went for and advanced driving course, maybe that lack of training people have to drive on motorways is the problem…
other things like how to use your mirrors before changing lanes and indicate when changing lanes would be seen more often if proper training was given too…

oh and people who sit in the overtaking lanes (middle and outside) rather than using the correct lane when not overtaking!! maybe compulsory training would be suitable…

are superstar any good half the price of hope

I very nearly went for SS switch evo hubs as they are cheaper and do look to be of decent quality. but have always wanted Hope so saved up for a bit longer. and they are british designed and made which makes me happy.

hope pro 2 are the most irritating hub on the planet, it was a blessing when I changed my bike and got silent hubs back.

but walker’s dont get out of your way with silent hubs, they do with the racket hopes make 🙂

get a Hope pro2 evo rear hub, adaptable to most hub sizes and fully serviceable, all your future woes will dissapear… along with a small chunk of cash from your pocket!, but they are worth it 🙂

If you’re working at St Peter’s try West byfleet, much cheaper rent / hosues than epsom way, very good rail connections to London and the south west, not far from the A3 & M25 if you need to commute by car, reasonable shops and some nice restaurants, 15-20min cycle to the hospital. 20mins drive to the surrey hills or swinley forest…..
from living around this area for 12yrs now i have found it the nicest suburban place to live round here 🙂

Far from it, it’s great fun on a hardtail.

    +1

just mentioned that my rear end had recieved more of a pounding than I usually got round the old swinley trails, still very enjoyable up there

Have Charge LR and its much better than than the std ones for me. At 6’1″ I struggle with fit and the charge keeps the weight off my shoulders nicely, plus it has lots of extra storage pockets too 🙂

I only managed time for the blue trail on Saturday, but was impressed at how good it was and they’ve kept and improved on the good parts of the original trails. will try the Red trail soon, must have missed all the walkers and joggers… deffinitley worth the £2 parking fee 😀

hmmmmm… I notice a trend for pump users on this thread….
How do the pumps and implants hold up to trail centres and general singletrack and DH duties? or do you not wear them when riding?

    tell me more.

My word there are a few of us here! 🙂
Type 1 from birth, have ridden MTB’s since the age of 13 (I’m 36). I exercise when i can but have good BG awareness and try to keep them in control. it does take time to recognise the symptoms of high / low BG so dont be afraid to test yourself, I do 7-10 times a day, and adjust my insulin / carb intake accordingly.
Have you been on the Dafne and carb counting courses yet?

When out on the bike i test before and every hour during (good excuse for a rest lol) then also after. I usually lower my insulin intake slightly before exercise and always carry plenty of glucose with me just in case I need it (more often than not!)also if you BG is slightly above normal before excercise dont worry too much just monitor it.

only tip i would give is dont worry what anyone else thinks and if you feel you need to stop for a blood test and have a mars bar then do so dont let it get to you its just the way things are, and Diabetes does not stop you from doing anything

sounds like he may not have realised your intention and may have been a bit eager to get past you without checking your indictaions or lack of, put it down to one of those things, at least is sounds as though you were in the correct lane and indicated at the correct time and you knew your surroundings. As long as no one was hurt everyone is ok. put it down to one of those things…

Its all easily rideable for the experienced Mtb’er but for a novice some of the descents could prove interesting! take it easy and be prepared for the hills too 🙂

warm up on the south loop first then hit the north

+1 for the XR650 as its bulletproof almost, but it needs the engine uncorking and the suspension sorting properly to be anywhere near as entertaining as a KTM or berg.

horribly uncomfortable and get dull a bit quick

Not for me i sold my 600 and went beck to the SM fold for that reason.
though for big distance yes you’re correct they aren’t the greatest, I could manage about 100 miles before soreness krept in on my berg, but it was a lot more fun in those 100 miles than the kwak, and all within legal speed limits too…officer..

I have used them many times, very happy with their customer service. Recently got some hope hoops and other bits from them and they where the cheapest around. I did have to wait for some other bits but they kept me informed by email as to what was happening and when I phoned they were always helpful. 🙂
