it’s been shown that shopping is stressful for men whereas it has a calming effect for women, although what that means nowadays I don’t know.

Can I just self-id as a women before a shopping trip to make sure I enjoy it ?

if you actually think about my comment, I did not actually say I thought he was a disappointing human being

I’ve looked and that is pretty much what you implied, not the rest of your excuse…

being a commercial and design ‘genius’ and being a disapointment as a human being are not mutually exclusive

no mention of different peoples perception

wasn’t going to take the voucher from customer services and then also get the manager to honour the original price – one or the other, maybe.

after some more complaining and pointing out the error customer services are sending me a voucher anyway.

    Its pretty obvious TBH

what is obvious, if you’d read the posts, is that the flaw is in the order amendment process, which is not rerunning the same validation that it did on the original checkout of the fresh order.

If it had of then it would have issued a warning that the offer had expired by the amended delivery date.

Failure of their QA to spot it…

as you are implying that he is a dissappointment as a human being what are you basing that on – that he is a brexit supporter ?

or is it just a case of ‘it takes one to know one’ ?

but still recognise that there are practical difficulties in implementing it.

pretty easy to enforce – surely?

just a traffic warden on a push bike with a tape rule – if there is less than, say, 2m of path available then it’s a ticket.

As long as there is a single lane with down the road then that is good enough.

If there isn’t then the council need to take a look at alternate arrangements – like pavement only on one side of road and a good crossing setup so it is viable.

If you buy a house somewhere with parking problems, buy a narrower car…

I still hope the skilled folks get other jobs when it does go pop.

he has said that there are enough vacancies for most of them to be absorbed into other parts of the business, and ‘For those that cannot, or do not wish to, find alternate roles, we will support them fairly and with the respect deserved’

Dyson employs people from many different places/races and actively supports getting more women into science and engineering, but he gets no credit for that amongst the brexit bigots on this forum.

1835 highways act (section 72) I think, prohibits driving a carriage on the footway, unless to gain lawful access to premises or in an emergency.

precisely – the act of driving up on to the pavement or off again is inherently legal – it is just that they need to see who the driver is at the time.

If any person shall wilfully ride upon any footpath or causeway by the side of any road made or set apart for the use or accommodation of foot passengers; or shall wilfully lead or drive any horse, ass, sheep, mule, swine, or cattle or carriage of any description, or any truck or sledge, upon any such footpath or causeway; or shall tether any horse, ass, mule, swine, or cattle, on any highway, so as to suffer or permit the tethered animal to be thereon;. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . F2; every person so offending in any of the cases aforesaid shall for each and every such offence forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding [F3level 2 on the standard scale], over and above the damages occasioned thereby.

    Also

f not specifically prohibited, parking a vehicle on the pavement could lead to an offence of obstruction being committed – this could result in a fixed penalty notice being issued to offending vehicle/s. This is because parking on the pavement can obstruct pedestrians and wheelchair users, forcing them to use the road to pass a parked vehicle/s.

    and

It should also be noted that unless you are accessing your property via a lowered kerb driveway, it is an offence to drive on the pavement even for a short distance.

    from

    https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q387.htm

There should be a minimum clearance for the pavement stipulated – you cannot park on the pavement uness there is, say, 1.5m of passage left on the pavement. Make it clear that a car is causing an obstruction.

If there room isn’t then tough, go find somewhere else to park.

Cars have been getting ever bigger and wider over the years, why should the pedestrian, pushchair user, diasabled person in a wheelchair, or blind/partially sighted person suffer ?

Cyclists already suffer from these bigger cars because of less space on the road.

A recently elected government is about as legitimate as you can get.

no it isn’t – an election will be completely tainted by other issues like people always having voted for a particular party and not being able to vote for anyone else.

And other people won’t want to vote on a single issue like this, as it will bring along a whole load of other policies they might not want – but the politicians will think that they have a mandate for.

the brexit issue needs to be dealt with by a seperate referendum before any GE.

Later, when I was cleaning the paint brushes I was using, one of my kids asked me why I was taking such pains to clean brushes when they can be bought 3 for a quid in most discount shops.

“Not ones like these, son” I replied, “these are Purdys, they’re the Rolls-Royce of paintbrushes”

so you didn’t point out what a terrible attitude that is – to just throw stuff away and replace because it is cheap?

Finance guy on LBC said his daughters liked Primark because you could wear their stuff a couple of times and then throw it away.

Apparently it is now common to throw stuff out once you’ve been seen in it on social media 3 times.

And that’s ‘throw it away’ and not ‘take it to the charity shop’

A study of 2,000 people found that one in 10 would throw away an item after being pictured online with it three times. The survey also revealed one in five throw their clothes in the bin rather than give them to charity.

thing about Corbyn is that, even if some of his ideas are worthy, an increasing number of people don’t trust him after witnessing him effectively misleading people over a number of issues – everyone jumping on statements about labour wanting to be in the customs union, whereas he was careful to say “a customs union” and not correcting the misconception, letting people believe that he was going to cancel all student debt because he was on a wave of popularity at the time, denying ever meeting any IRA, etc.

Add that to the general discontent and distrust of politicians/the establishment that is prevalent now and he needs to go.

Johnson is popular because people are believing his commitment to try to do what he said he would do.

    pretty ignorant comment…

what is it about being a remainer that makes you GAF about people?

From what I can see most remainers are basically thinking about the economic impact on them, rather than any other principles.

the way I see it is if we hadn’t have had free movement then peoples attitudes towards taking refugees would have been a lot better.

I am also uncomfortable with the fact the immigration to the UK is easy for europeans but difficult and expensive for anyone else.

And then you can get on to the neo-liberal arguments and say free-movement is bad for the working classes…

Why did they ask to change your delivery day?

the delivery date I choose was too soon for them. The problem was that the amendment process didn’t warn me, although it did later send me an email with the increased amount on.

Why would you not just send (for free) the capsules to be recycled by the official Nespresso company?

I think you would need to buy their capsules, I am buying L’Or ones.

    TurnerGuy
    Free Member

Did you not contact them to ask them to sort it?

customer support this morning offered me a £25 voucher for ‘goodwill’

went to the store and eventually the manager offered me the original price, but I thought his attitude was a bit too much ‘no fault of our’ so I cancelled – will buy elsewhere. He can deal with restocking 300 capsules.

Phoned customer suport this afternoon to point out the error in their amendment process – I would have been warned about the discount ending on purchase, but not when amending the delivery date forward, and he offered a refund to the original price. I asked why the girl this morning hadn’t done that, he said it was at their discretion so she could easily have sensed that a gift voucher wasn’t cutting it and refunded to the price and not p1ssed me off into cancelling.

And I only amended the date at their request.

It wasn’t so much the money but the fact that the whole process almost silently added an extra £30 to my bill. If I’d had a more complicated order then I might well not have noticed.

Yep, checking out will warn you that the offers expire, but amending your delivery date doesn’t…

    TurnerGuy
    Free Member

Yep, all normal. Would you prefer to have money taken from your account a week before you receive any goods?

no I would prefer the amount I agreed to to be taken from my account when the goods are delivered.

    Which is not what happened.

The online checkout had £60 at the time I made the purchase, but I would have paid £90 on the day of delivery if I hadn’t told the manager to cancel the order.

Maybe amending the delivery date AT THEIR REQUEST fell through the gap of it warning, but choosing the delivery date is done at the end of the purchasing process.

Pretty sure that’s simialr to tesco – I’m sure I’ve seen a warning that X discount/offer will have expired before the delivery date when putting goods into the basket.

no such warning though – the price increase just happened by stealth.

What a screwed up process. It’s a failed process, basically.

I only moved the date because they asked me to.

Couldn’t see similar on John Lewis’s site.

He once said that Germany was the rape capital of Europe because of all the immigrants, as a random example

what an idiot – when everytone knows it is really Sweden..

“In August 2018, SVT reported that rape statistics in Sweden show that 58% of men convicted of rape and attempted rape over the past five years were immigrants born outside of the European Union”

“In March 2018, newspaper Expressen investigated gang rape court cases from the two preceding years and found that there were 43 men having been convicted. Their average age was 21 and 13 were under the age of 18 when the crime was committed. Of the convicted, 40 out of the 43 were either immigrants (born abroad) or born in Sweden to immigrant parents.[51] Another investigation by newspaper Aftonbladet found that of 112 men and boys convicted for gang rape since July 2012, 82 were born outside Europe.”

Well nobody mention Receiver Radio if they leave a poor review for BBC Sounds, just in case it alerts the BBC to them having competition.

We used to tune the radio in to pirate radio stations when working at the BBC Research Dept. The problem was we were in the TV and Radio planning department so invariably a radio engineer would come in, notice the frequency, make a phone call and a few hours later that station would go quiet !
