This isn’t on your list at all and not be anywhere near what your thinking, but I’ve got a pinnacle dolomite 3, full new spec sora (only 9 speed though) takes guards, panniers and 32mm tyres. It’s a large and I’ll take £300 posted..
Was looking at a defy one advanced but have heard different things about what colour schemes will be available.. would like an advanced one with the colours of the 2 or 3!
Campag zondas.. ive got the same giant wheels as you and i tried a pair of a friends zonda’s.. great set of wheels and can be had for £249 at ribble. 🙂
I bought it as to take on holiday as I needed something that would take 28mm tyres. Would make an ideal winter bike as it’s got plenty of room for guards and panniers etc. Full sora group set. 🙂
yeh, think im just gonna give that idea a miss.. a lot of people are reiterating my thoughts regarding debris on the wheel taking some lumps out my carbon!
not a lot of flex in the wheels..its a defy composite running the standard P-SL1 wheels. theres loads of room to the sides, its the lack of room at the top of the tyre and the seatstay bridge?? Im taking the bike on holiday for a week, so probably 4 or 5 rides..
I too would reccommend rhodes..as has been said above, pefkos is nice as are most of the villages around there.I have family out there and try and get out at least once a year. Also great roads for road biking!
I go to rhodes quite a lot (got family there). i usually take my road bike as theres better road cycling. I have used rodos cycling, and to be honest, its more of a sightseeing tour. Ive also used rhodesroads as toasty has done and it was better..
As above- got the alu version and love it! running fox talas 100-140- i think the sweetspot is 120 but use 140 when i point it downhill. Best bike ive owned… 😀
I was actually going to try and stay away from the towns and head out into the hills on the roads. But if everyone says the roads are bad i’ll just take my m/bike. Shame, as i taking the roadbike lets you see a bit more of the country.. 🙁
Is it that bad? I’ve cycled abroad quite a bit (greece, italy, spain).. heat doesn’t bother me as id be riding early morning.. I was more worried about road conditions etc.. 😕
Ive got an S40 (essentially the same but with a boot). As peeps said above its a focus with a volvo body.. but some of the 2.0D dont share the same engines as the focus.. parts are cheap if you dont buy from the stealers. Usual problems if its a diesel- dmf’s.. dpf’s, egr valves etc. You can get them without a DPF.. just few and far between.. I managed to track one down without a dpf, roadtax is a bit higher but i dont mind as it saves a world of problems with the dpf. head over to http://www.volvoforums.org.uk for a wealth of info. 😀
I had the exact same dilemma. Managed to get a defy comp 1 for 1400 from pauls cycles. . Glad I went for the carbon.. beautiful bike to ride and won’t need to upgrade for a while. .
