Thanks for all the quick replies. there is a plastic cable stop at the headtube end so wouldn’t be expecting a full run of outer. I think there needs to be some sort of cable stop like the cervelo one.. just need to try and source one!

And if you have to use flat bar shifters go for 4600 tiagra as the 4700 is a different pull ratio than all other shimano stuff.

I recently used 10 speed xt shifters with a 105 triple road . They are different pull ratios but when installing the cable into the FD you have to install it looser to compensate for the pull ratio difference.

Would shimano sora Flat bar shifters not do the job.. they also do a brake lever for rim brake or cable pull discs. I just built up a planet x pro carbon flat bar using tiagra 4703 shifters and levers on rim brakes and didn’t have any problems.

As above, dunkeld has some good stuff. If you fancied something a bit longer one day, glen tilt is good.

Thanks for replies. tried several different things at the same time so not sure which one solved the problem!  i wasn’t using a genuine sram bleed kit so the hose connection’s on the syringe’s weren’t the best – i had to cable tie them to stop fluid leaking!  Also, i had the pad contact dial rotated the wrong way.. All sorted now and finally got a brake that works.

    thanks

@jeffl, yes all seller refurbished units from fleabay. Majority with 30-60 rtb for ‘some’ peace of mind. Got the impression lenovos were better than hp/Dell etc, so maybe not chojin. Need to buy one today as I’m leaving the country for winter next week.. like the look of the vostro, so might plump for that.

Used a bleed block between pistons and the pistons were replaced as well so not seized. The brakes work fine but there either on or off..

Thanks for replies folks. didn’t buy new so no receipt unfortunately. I think i’ll buy the kit and try and fix myself – just wasn’t sure how hard/easy it was. i had loked at the instructions on the sram site.. looks a bit dawnting but i’ll give it a go.

    cheers

@pacerc100.. I just sold my phase 2 gtt. Had it 20 years but would rather have seen someone restore it than it just sitting rotting away. Hopefully he’ll make a good job of it!

I’d buy impact shorts and wrist guards as many have said, you’ll fall quite a lot and you don’t want to break/bruise anything. 🙂
