Have you tried the B-screw adjustment?

Have been using this stuff http://www.wilko.com/pests-control/wilko-repellent-granules-cat+dog-500g/invt/0330910 to deter the half dozen cats that liked our freshly dug over garden beds. It was a every three days application for the first six weeks but now down to every other week. Just need to remember to do it after heavy rain washes it away. It does smell strong though.

When I was a complete novice moving from a BSO to a ‘proper’ drop bar road racer, I went and got professionally measured for £25 at a shop using this system bikefitting. Used the output to guide me on what size bike to buy and as a starting set up for riding. I didn’t want to drop three weeks wages on a bike when I had really limited experience and test rides where limited to riding round the block at the bike shop. Been riding that ever since, in the last 9 years I’ve just reduced the stem length as I’ve got older and more inflexible.

CTC groups will normally have a slow ride on the weekend and are generally happy for you to try before you join. They also know where the best cafes are.

I’ve been thinking about a bike with similar requirements as I find my Ridley Crossbow a bit uncomfortable on multi day tours. I keep coming back to the Kinesis Tripster (also available in Ti)

    Anyone running a sektor coil?

Yep on my 456 for a year, I really like them, plush ride (I was upgrading from a bike with Darts so not a great point of comparison). I’m lucky I fit in the weight range of the standard springs, if you don’t that’s worth factoring in the price. Took me a few rides to work out where I want the compression. But having got the feel now find it easy to adjust on the fly from locked. Setting to min travel requires a hefty push, not something I’ve managed to master on the fly but I’ve fairly low riding skills.

They feel a bit more flexy at 150 than 120 but that could be my imagination formed from other reviews of the forks I’ve read.

I’ve got the 310 as it plays fairly well on the bike too. I found this guide invaluable when choosing which version http://www.dcrainmaker.com/product-comparison-calculator

I treated my 456 with boiled linseed oil before building it up as an alternative to framesaver or waxoyl.

I pack a spare tyre when touring. On my cross bike (tourer) I can squeze a folding tyre zip tied under my rear rack, it also stops the mudguard rattling too. Continental Gatorskins, not touring tyres but have coped fine with light touring.

Three years with them now. I intialy tried them after getting wrist ache with straight bars and not getting on with bar ends, have ache free on marys. Could be a bit wider and fitting lights is more of a challenge

They do work, I also find that in the darker months the sunrise wake-up lamps really help too.
+1 on the sunrise wake up lamp

As the route all but goes down my road it seemed rude not too. I’ll be the one pushing my salt n’ vinegar 456 up the longer draggy climbs.

Currently raining lightly in the Chilterns.
