5’8.5″? Since when? Gary’s got a medium capra in Ross I think. As far as I know he’s doing the WVW ride Saturday if you’re about

I’d avoid the Sony X, reviews aren’t great and unlike the Z series it’s not waterproof (if that matters) . Z5 compact instead?

Mine’s been improved greatly by fitting a ks southpaw lever, still slow to compress or return though

I found tape didn’t stop the sp clamp from slipping, might try some paste instead if that works

S-works storms are light and not too draggy for a (proper) mud tyre. The 29Er Dirty Dan is a skinny 2″ job as well.

It won’t be, there’s just enough moisture to make the limestone in there pretty entertaining. Enjoy!

Just to muddy things further, the Vitus Escarpe 29er is good. Similar to the stumpjumper in terms of travel

I seem to be one of the only people who has got that combination to work! It was a faff though and if I was buying new rotors anyway I’d get Shimano ones.

Mudhugger. I’ve got 2, one of the originals with an extender and one of the newer FR? versions. Both on 29ers. It’s definitely worth taping the forks as they can rub

Alex, just take one of the other bikes. Or put some proper wheels in the cotic

I use magic mary on the front all year, does well in pretty much all conditions. I’ve a big beaver on the back for winter, does fine there but I don’t know if I’d use it on the front. As said above, the shorty is closer to a magic mary. Might try a shorty this winter on the ht.

Look at the vitus escarpe as well on CRC, extra 10% off if you’re a BC member too

I only thought there was a debonair version? I put one on my stumpy evo, much better than the original Fox. It may also be for sale…

Jake at Sprung did my old 44s, they’re much better now

Pretty much what’s been said above, great combination. I’d definitely go for the Trailstar razor, manages well in a surprising amount of conditions.

My monarch plus also had wear within a couple of weeks of summer riding. When I opened it up it was virtually dry, so with all rs shocks I always open them up and lube them. Fisher did replace it, although they weren’t happy about it

Grants for housing adaptations due to disability are called disabled facility grants. You usually apply for them through social services, and your mum would need an assessment by an occupational therapist. She may be financially assessed in the same way as she was for home care, if your mum is self-funding for that then she may be over the threshold for a DFG. It’s definitely worth an ask though

Rain only stopped here yesterday lunch time, so I’d expect it to still be a bit slippy. That’s only an educated guess though

Just had my frame “won” by someone with no history, which is strange as they’ve been a member for 4 years.

Also lives in Chile, so I won’t hold my breath for payment….

So is the performance compound harder than a pacestar? Thinking it might be ok as a back tyre

29er hardtail and full sus. Vitus escarpe which is 150/135 and a trek stache with 130 on the front. Mainly ride the full sus around here (FOD) unless it’s really manky then the ht comes out.

Both bikes are also set up so most parts can be swapped over if necessary

Thread bump! Any more thoughts on these? Trying to decide between the i29s and i35s for my trail bike. Usually run schwable tyres, hans, magic etc. Any thoughts?

Winstanleys have got American Classic wheels reduced to £300 a pair, I’ve been running a set for nearly 3 years and they’re great. I’m tempted to get another pair myself…

    You didn’t take much convincing

Had the same issue on the monarch plus I put on my stumpy evo. It had started to wear in less than a month! Fisher warranteed it (eventually), they are assembled pretty much bone dry apart from a smear of grease for some reason.

Also interested in this, bike currently has a Rockshox Monarch, light compression and medium rebound and wondered what the equivalent fox tune would be?

Mine is a mix of XT shifter, mech and cassette with sram chain and cranks. Works fine. If it’s a X0 crank the whole spider should come off, there’s 3 bolts on the back. You can then fit a direct mount chain ring

Same height as you, on a escarpe 29 in large. Ive managed to squeeze a 150mm dropper in too. Great bike, prefer it to my 2014 stumpjumper evo

Ta, some stuff to think about. I’ve been running the shock with a couple of bands in it ti resist bottom out, maybe have a play between that and the compression damping

Depends on the bike, my fs 29er has 150mm forks so it’s got flat bars to keep the front under control. My ht has risers, but a shorter fork so it keeps the bar height similar between the two.

Chief, it’s only a light compression tune, so why higher on the hsc? Not arguing, just curious.

For rebound as the existing shock is a medium tune but with rapid recovery I was going to go less lsr damping, but more on the hsr. Make sense?

Cheers. I’d had a look at the field tuning guide, just wondering if there were any short cuts!

That’s good to hear as I’ve just bought a new set from Burgtec!

Also looking at one of these due to problems with the last couple of RS shocks I’ve had. So what’s different with the mounting hardware?

    trusty
    Full Member

It seems like a fairly common problem then! Hoping spares are available, I’d rather not have to buy a new shock to tide me over

Ta muchly all, looks like it’ll be going back to CRC later.

Cheers, seems to work ok but the knocking is very noticeable. I’ll look at sending it back

Blueadvocate, grading is a bit mixed. The dh graded black is harder than the enduro black we did, however parts of the enduro red trail were just as hard as the black! The enduro tracks had more of an off piste feel, and I’d say were graded the same as a proper Scottish black. I rode open face lid and just knee pads, the only place I felt under kitted was the black dh stuff.
