It’s a 45mm jobie so plenty enduro enough for me. Going up to 140mm would be entertaining right until I had to go round a corner!

Isn’t the new 2018 Pike compatible with a lock out? Boost only I think though

Alex, it’ll be the saracens I expect, cold beer by the river. And it’s close to home!

Yep, Staunton trails tonight and tomorrow night. Be rude not to

Anyone tried a coil on a nukeproof mega 290?

On a more serious note, I’ve got a marsh / enduro guard thing lying around if it’ll be any use

Option B, use the Cotic? :D

    Eulach, it’s R2 bike.

Cheers all. I’d looked at the Huck Norris, but that’s around £60 as well plus I’m unsure what us life expectancy is. Procore it is then… Hopefully it’ll keep my wheels out of the Lbs a bit more!

Is the flat tyre defender available in the UK? It does seem to be even heavier than procore

I think the one for the 29er had a low compression tune, I can’t remember now

    trusty

I’m not a biffa, but on my 29er stumpy I had to put the max of 6 in otherwise it would blow through its travel as the compression tune was pretty light

Schwable supergravity tyres have been tough enough for me in the alps, and can be pedalled if needed!

I’m also looking at one of these, or the smaller one. What are they like for getting whole bikes in to? I’m liking the idea of something that’s a van, but not a van…

I’ve borrowed one of these but can’t get it to work with me rear shock. It’s a 2016 fox factory DPS with the evol air can fitted. I can’t get the blimming thing to calibrate, I go through the steps (and I’ve watched the video) but I keep getting a message saying it didn’t measure enough of a pressure change between full extension and compression. Help!

*I’ll try where I borrowed it from tomorrow, but thought I’d ask here as well

The supergravity RR is a great tyre, the carcass on mine is fine despite having been on 2 wheels I’ve pringled due to being over enthusiastic  longevity is a problem with the trailstar compound though as it does wear quite quickly. I’ll be interested to see how the new schwable compounds and Apex carcass look

They’re not the longest bikes. I’m 5’11 on a large escarpe 29er and it fits me well (and I can just fit a 150 Reverb). Are they running any more demo days? It’s a great bike for the money if it fits.

Strava is woefully inaccurate at times. Followed a mate down a local 2-3 minute track, finishing 3 or 4 seconds apart. It gave me a time of around 10 minutes, and him 6. It’s a bit of fun basically (awaits stoning)

I run a Magic Mary on the front of my hardtail with revs (29er,not boost) and it fits fine. Running it on a 27mm internal rim

I just use a couple of drops of fork oil, the same with fork stanchions

30mm is fine, and make sure you tape the rim join well! They leak otherwise…

Northwind, I don’t think so! I just looked on the Mavic website :D there’s no real reviews of the new mavic rims so thought I’d take a punt. I’ve trashed a couple of Stans rims so wanted something a bit cheaper to replace!

With the Mavic rims the 427s are non-eyeletted and sleeved (pinned? ), the 627 are sleeved but have eyelets and the 827 are welded and have eyelets. I went for the 427 as it was the cheapest and lightest.

No useful suggestions for hubs, but I’ve just had an old set of American Classic hubs rebuilt on the new mavic 427 rims. 27mm wide internal, reasonably light and about £30 a rim

Do the bikes go in whole?

I’d been looking at the transit (van) version instead of the tourneo, as I’d be concerned about trashing the interior. Ramsey, is the one your wife uses short or long wheelbase?

    trusty

I had the same problem with my xx27 rims, fixed with wider tape.

Do those Mavics need a specific tubeless tape? Only asking as my lbs are building me a set of wheels using the 427 rim (same but wider)

If you’re taping a wheel that needs multiple wraps, try putting a single layer on the whole wheel first to seal it. For additional layers only tape to either side of the valve. Then the valve is only trying to seal through one layer of tape.

Hose the bike in the dark, hang up to dry indoors. Next day, spot the bits you missed, wipe chain and relube. Maybe 10 minutes all in

To be honest I used Gorilla tape and cut it down as that’s what I had. I then put a layer of 27mm tape over the top as reinforcement as gorilla tape is quite thin. I’d go for 30mm tape next time

A quick update. With wider tape they sealed easily, mine were losing too much air through the rim join for the sealant to do its thing. Hopefully ride them tomorrow

    Edit – delayed double post

    trusty

First point, they need tape wider than the 27mm I tried as they were losing air through the rim join. Try again tomorrow…

I had a pair arrive yesterday, seem to be great for the money. I’ll be taping them tonight and fitting tyres ready for BPW at the weekend. They’ll be spares for me, so didn’t want to spend much cash

One of the Ross boys has just got a whyte t129, loves it

Widge, have you bought this one or still looking

I’ve got the large beaver (no sniggering) on the back of the hardtail, seems to work fine but it does seem to be a lighter carcass than the shorty on the front. The full sus still has a Nobby Nic on the back, and it’s been fine on the local mud and isn’t scary on hardpack. It’s a 2.35 though so might be a bit big

Mine are with UPS, who are unable to deliver them as the delivery address is wrong  I suspect UPS have it wrong as everything else I’ve ordered from superstar has arrived with the correct address

They recommend a large Jeffsy? That’s surprising as the measurements are similar to my large Vitus.
