Did it on an ally Titus ftm. Apart from checking tyre clearance and stuff, it slackens everything off, including the seat angle. I ended up having the shock re-valved due to more weight on the back end (and I could push the bike harder)

I’ve gone from the horizontal tt measurements on both and also the 29r stumpy that I’ve ridden. Head and seat angles are the same so there shouldn’t be anything weird there. I like a longer bike, but the comments on the reviews were concerning me as pretty much everyone recommended a medium. And yes, a test ride would solve it. I can always send it back to crc but it’s easier to get it right the first time!

Anyone ridden the pike against the revelations in 29r flavour? Much difference in stiffness? I’m used to the 26 version and like em but wondered about the 29 version

Mine went last pop year, ended up in 3 bits. Replaced under warranty tho. Then snapped the axle this year

I’d seen that one ta, dirt did one as well. I just wondered if anyone had used the 2013 one in the UK

    No-one? I guess that’s why it’s reduced then!

The Wye Valley Monduro has been running for a bit as well, more of a mates race though.

Dry ride tonight until I headed back. One minute throwing it down, 100 meters up the road bone dry. Bizarre.

Tbh I’m not fussed about the timing, errors would only mean a place or so difference. I’m more than happy with my placing, much better than 115th or so I managed last year!

Nickhead, stage 1 was a case if keeping it steady and not crashing or blowing up! Not my favorite. As for stage 2, it’s a trail I’ve ridden before so I know it a bit. It’s the only one I did though. 1.51 for it felt pretty quick. Not sure how another rider was clocked at 1.07 though, that’s nuts!

It is a nice write up. Somehow I managed 25th overall and what looks like 2nd in the veterans 8O I may now turn pro :D

I loved it, better than last year’s I think. Stage 1 was looonnggg… but fun in a hard work kind of way. Stages 2 and 3 were superb and 4 and 5 were fun but a bit pedally again. A very good day though. There’s a cracking OTB to faceplant clip on the FOD facebook page, where someone got a drop on the transition from 1 to 2 very wrong. I was no 61, so hi to bedfordrd and boxxer7!

FOD / enduro1 enduro in, strangely enough, the FOD on Sunday with a local spin around Bringewood / Mortimers Forest Saturday. Pretty slippery both days but a good weekend.

A mate and I were up there riding the day the falconer and camera guy were there scoping it out. We got to have a live display when he let the falcon off and was using the bait on a line. The falcon was coming in close enough over our heads to make us duck several times. Very, very cool indeed. The show came to an end when a wild bird of prey came in to see who the intruder was so it had to be called back.

Plenty of overseas riders at glentress last weekend, and passed a group over from Sweden at Inners as well. Don’t see many round here in Shropshire tho!

Mine are showing a bit of wear in the same place, but not as much as yours! Not much help I know :D the oil left did look like stewed tea so it’s not a surprise. Must service more often… A new csu is £200 – 240, plus service. For that it’s cheaper (or as cheap) to buy new forks in the sale so I’d leave them now until thier proper knackered

I’ve got the switch hubs. Fronts been great, but I managed to shear the freehub into 3 pieces and snapped the rear axle. Apart from that it’s been fine!

Thanks mboy. Taller is fine, it’s wider that’s the problem (no giggling at the back). Any other suggestions for an all round tyre that’ll fit?

Cheers for that. If they come up like a Maxxis 2.3 then job’s a good ‘un. I like Spech tyres but they don’t seem to do anything grippy in a 2″, and the 2.2 / 2.3″ tyres are too big. I’ve tried the captains and ground controls and they’re great in the dry but lacking once it gets a bit wet.

Anyone say how they come up size wise? Appologies if it’s in here somewhere but there’s 7 pages of threads to read! I’ve got a 2010 Stumpys FSR, and clearance in the back isn’t great so I’m looking for something gripy, fairly cheap and can be run tubeless. I can fit a 2.3 swampthing in there and a Spesh 2″ tyre, is the smorgasbord similar size wise? I’ve got a Chunky Monkey on the front and it’s great but huge!

I thought this thread had died! I definitely ordered the right bearing from crc so it shouldn’t be a wheel bearing, plus it fits the bb cup as it should. It just seems that the id is about .5 mm bigger than the axle. The old one’s gone in the bin but I’ve ordered another so I can compare.

It is a hope bearing (even says hope on it). It’s loose on an old set of race face cranks I’ve got in the shed as well. Very strange

I rode what I usualy use – chunky monkey on the front and Spesh ground control on the back (6 inch trail bike). Both were run tubeless to stop pinch flats tho. I did fine on that (and I wasn’t mincing either) but with hindsight something a bit toothier on the back would have been nice as the gc did sliiide a bit sometimes. It’s a great place though, I loved it and can’t wait to go back. Take a ff lid though as you’ll need it to do the red and blacks.

3 rides for me around Bringewood / mortimer’s forest with a mix of xc and dh. Had planned to go elsewhere but conditions were so good I didn’t bother so I could ride from the house :D. No idea how to upload photos straight from my phone, sorry!

Sorry to hijack, but is there much riding near Bromyard? I live close by in Ludlow and no-one’s ever mentioned it?

    trusty

I don’t know about Eastridge or Hopton, but Bringewood is rideable if you don’t mind d/h in the snow! Rode it last night, and as its north facing its still covered top to bottom. It did go tho. It’s a push back up, forestry roads have too much snow on them. It’ll be a bit clearer by next weekend, but as its taken over a week to get as clear as it is it’ll probably still be white in places!

    Edit, beaten to it!

Washing up liquid helps as well, tubeless or not

Mostly fine when I did it on Tuesday, and it’ll have got drier since! One muddy section, but it’s flat so nothing to worry about. If you’re riding there this weekend it’ll be rammed…

Blazing Bikes at Marshbrook described the snow on the Mynd as “thinning” on FB this morning, might be worth giving them a call though. All the other hills in the area seem to have a good covering though (another ludlow rider here)

Most MTB stuff in Austria does seem to be in other resorts, but we’re both keen to get some summer skiing or boarding in as well so Mayrhofen came up. I’m sure there are trails there, but there doesn’t seem to be much information about

I had, their grading system seems a bit strange, mainly graded on the climbing compaired to the descending!

Anyone been there in the summer?

Plenty of stuff there, Minton bach is the favourite which is great fun. As well as Plush Hill cycles there’s also Blazing Bikes at Marshbrook for spares / advice.
